Shuhan [On Leave] (Inyourclosetinyourhead) I quite like Elementary! It has quite a nice twist and I love how they managed to make Sherlock seem more human but still manage to make him a high functioning sociopath. XD

Khalif I cannot stand Elementary. Its a classic example of ow Americans take the literature of other cultures and butchers it

Brayden Doane | 3 comments When I first saw Elementary, I was amazed. I had seen the Sherlock Holmes movie and read The Adventure of the Scandal in Bohemia and was half-way through A Study in Scarlet. I felt like this show had Holmes represented in an awesome way.

Then I watched Sherlock.

I tried to go back to Elementary but had trouble.

I've decided that while Sherlock has the best mysteries and effects, Elementary is the most accurate representation of a modern Holmes. He is tattooed, dressed like a dork, and always moving from one odd obsession to another. While I love Bennedict Cumberbatch, Miller makes a much better modern Holmes.

Bruce I agree, Braydon. Sherlock is BY FAR the better series, and while Cumberbatch is still great, it's more like a first-half-of-the-20th century Shakespearean actor portraying a 21st century Sherlock. I also loved that Jonny Lee Miller is covered in tattoos, although I really don't care much for the hipster dress on either him or Cumberbatch. I'd rather see t-shirt and jeans. It would be accurate too - Sherlock was messy (although with a method to the mess), and today, he probably would have dressed down even more. Jonny Lee Miller in tatts, in more punk or grunge style in NYC would have been AMAZING.

I think the thing I'm most disappointed about Cumberbatch, is that they didn't do a period set version with him, as he would have been PERFECT for that. Then they could have done an actual by-the-book version of A Study in Scarlet, which I've been waiting over two decades to see. Ah well. I guess they'll have to leave A Study in Scarlet for one of the next versions.
