In the book it clearly states that the runes are written in red. Is there an edition that has a coloured map?
Today I was browsing the books while shopping and noticed that the latest printing of the Hobbit does not include the second map. The one of 'Wilderland'.

This is their response
Dear
Thank you for contacting Audible!
Based on your email, I understand you are wondering why some books, such as the unabridged version of "The Hobbit" by J. R. R. Tolkien, are worth more than 1 credit on the Audible website. I would certainly be glad to help you with your query.
We make a commitment to our customers that less than 1% of our titles cost more than 1 credit. Instead of limiting these books to credit card purchases or removing them from the Audible website altogether, we have elected to price a small selection of audiobooks at more than one credit.
In an effort to increase the value of membership and improve the member experience, as of November 16, 2012 all 2-credit audiobooks have now been moved to 1-credit and no new audiobooks will be priced at 2-credits. With this said, you can now buy the unabridged version of "The Hobbit" audiobook for 1 credit only.
I hope this was helpful. Please let us know if there is anything else that we can do for you, we'll be glad to help.
Thanks again for contacting Audible and have yourself a wonderful day!
Isn't a coincidence that there is a change in policy on the same day I complain! Except I can still see books including "The Hobbit unabridged" for two credits. So I'll give them a couple days and see.

I think it's an anniversery adition of some kind and it's not called the Lord of the Rings (Der Herr der Ringe) but The History of the Great Ringwar (Die Geschichte des großen Ringkrieges).

I did spot World War Z though, which seems to have finally landed over here, so I might have to check that out at some point...
Anyway, back to The Hobbit, loving it so far. I'm even tempted to pick up a physical copy.

From Audible after I complained again this morning
"...The books are sold separately because this is how Audible has acquired them from the publishers and this is the stipulated marketing from the publishers. There is still a collection of multi-credit products on the site, however they are not classified as “audiobooks”. I do understand your frustration though, and with that being said, I have issued a complimentary credit on the account that you can use to purchase a version of the book..."
So the original reply I got back obviously didn't realise I was an Australian customer. They also forgot they had already given me a credit from the last time I complained last week. So tip for all UK and Aussie customers - complain about 2 credit books and get an extra credit for free. Even if you've already paid the two credits I would complain about it and you might get one added back - who knows.

Can't speak for print, but the illustration of Thoror's Map in the Nook Enhanced version has red runes on it.
I'm 50/50 on this edition. Having the option to listen to Tolkein sing "Chip the glasses" and "Far over the Misty Mountains Cold" is rather neat, except I can't follow along in the book at the same time because turning the page stops the recording. The 16 minute segment of Roast Mutton is right out.
Likewise, there's a few pages of illustrations before the book starts that are interesting to look through... once the ebook registers that you want to turn past the first map on the first page.
