The rest of part 1, after chapter 15, was just as good as the beginning but the first half of part 2 was boring and tedious. It picked up after Grenouille returned to society but still wasn't as good as part 1.
I agree, Lilac. The psychological part was interesting, but I found myself really skimming a lot of the description. And I strangely found myself sympathizing with him. Did anyone else feel that way?
Yes, I did a little but only whilst reading these chapters.
Yes, exactly. In these chapters. In the rest, his ego and thorough lack of empathy (or any positive feeling) really comes through.
