Jenelle As an indie author... at a first book signing... with a lot of marketing help/having it in my hometown... at a Barnes and Noble the week of Thanksgiving...

how many books should we have them order for the event? (keeping in mind that any we don't sell we'll have to buy back)

Thoughts? Opinions? The number they default to is 50... is that enough? Too many? Not enough? What would you do? Please help!

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 2274 comments Hey Jenelle, I had a book signing earlier this year wasnt a good turnout but it was at a small bookstore. Id say 50 is too much cause like you said any you dont sell you gotta buy back so maybe half of that? It depends on what ur books about and if B&N ur at fares well with signings. whatever u do decide best of luck to you!

Thomas Smith | 37 comments Hi Jenelle. I've done book signings for a bunch of clients prior to my becoming an artist myself. The week of Thanksgiving is a horrible time for a signing since most people will be out of town. Turn out will depend lots on what kind of promotion B&N intends to do for the event and, of course, how much you intend to do yourself.

Given those variables, I'm going to suggest 20 tops. We'll be doing our first signing in either early December or mid January. We plan to bring 10.
