Here's the deal, we all know that our fearless leaders like the Doctor Who. We also know that Veronica is a new series fan and Tom has said that he is an old series fan. I have never seen him at the conventions (ChicagoTARDIS this month or Gallifrey One in Feb) that I work at, but it's cool, he's a busy and successful guy. Essay books aren't exactly what we do here at Sword and Laser, but hey, this is Doctor Who.

This book is a collection of the entire 160 stories of the classic first seven incarnations of the Doctor as explained by fans of the series. We have wilderness years authors, academics, and well, me.

The cover of the book boasts these ten famous people.

ANDREW CARTMEL
DAVID J. HOWE
DEBORAH STANISH
GRAEME BURK
JONATHAN BLUM
KATE ORMAN
KIM NEWMAN
L.M. MYLES
SHAUN LYON
TAMMY GARRISON

I kid you not, my wife is the last person on the cover. She wrote the script for Torchwood Babiez, which got some press for being cute and muppet babies meets Doctor Who. She was in that Chicks Dig Time Lords: A Celebration of Doctor Who by the Women Who Love It and also Chicks Dig Comics: A Celebration of Comic Books by the Women Who Love Them and when Robert Smith? who wrote Braaaiiinnnsss!: From Academics to Zombies asked her to do one of these essays, she said sure. Then a few months later somebody wrote an essay that didn't work and Robert asked me to quick fill one in.

ME!

I KNOW!

So my essay is about "The Three Doctors" with the Doctor meeting himself and trying to save the Time Lords from a guy. I love this story, one of my faves of the Pertwee era. I forget which one my wife did, who cares. Read mine.

Anyway. That is how I lucked into being a published essayist. The book is available for pre-order now, and we have our big launch panel at ChicagoTARDIS the weekend just after Thanksgiving. http://www.chicagotardis.com/ if you want to join us. I work Security all weekend there. Come out and meet Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred and me, a guy that got lucky and got published.
