Pirene’s Fountain, a very nice online journal has included my poem, The Bartender’s Guide to Summer Drinks, in their special Beverage Anthology. You can see it here.

Yes, an unexpected turn at the end, a Bavetta specialty....

Carol | 10410 comments Don't some people say gin tastes like quinine?

It's tonic that tastes of quinine. That was its original intent in the drink. Quinine for malaria.

Carol | 10410 comments I knew it was something. I always use to think gin smelled like old dirty feet.

To me, gin has just a faint medicinal smell.

But it's all just a faint memory. My wonky heart prevents any more alcoholic indulgences.

Nature's first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold
Her early leaf's a flower
But only so an hour

Then leaf subsides to leaf
So Eden sank to grief
So dawn goes down to day
Nothing gold can stay

G&Ts were always the drink at the cabin when my parents were alive, and still are. Only mine is a T&T.
