We bought this house in 2009. My wife, who is sensitive but tries to ignore things, told me at the viewing that she felt something, but no real malice. So we bought the place. It was perfect for the two of us. And the occasional shadow flitting through the living room (we noticed this after a few weeks) did not bother us at all.
Then our daughter got in a jam and we took in her four daughters, aged (at the time) 3,4,5 and 7. It's a little crowded, but we get by. The shadow continued to play about the living room occasionally, sometimes the kitchen. As if someone were standing at the sink washing dishes. I saw a blue orb in there on a number of occasions.
Very late on December 29th of 2010 my mother died. I got the call on my way out the door to work at 5:30 am on the 30th. You can imagine how that morning went for me and obviously I didn't go to work. I had to plan a trip to Ohio (I live in Kansas), etc. About an hour later my oldest granddaughter got out of bed (no one but my wife knew my Mom had passed at this point) and hugged me, asking "Did my Nana die last night?" She had no way of knowing about that phone call. But sometimes, children just know.
For the next several months a new, larger shadow moved through the house. Usually on a straight line from the kitchen to the girl's room. We tell the girls nothing of the things we see (we don't want to scare them and the oldest scares VERY easily), yet all four of them reported dreams of their Nana, or outright conversations, for the better part of a year.
A couple of months ago, we started seeing more of the smaller shadow. Most of the time we write it off as one of the girls getting up for a drink, and sometimes it is. Sometimes there's no one in the kitchen when we go to see.
Then I was touched. Once on the back while I was drifting off to sleep (my wife was in another room as she tends to laundry and dishes and such after the girls and I are in bed), another time on the shoulder as I was wide awake and reading a book. I asked whatever it was to not touch me anymore and I haven't been touched since.
But there's something in our bathroom now. And I don't like it. It growls. Scratches on things. This thing is different than anything else we've experienced and it feels different. Our oldest granddaughter is now scared to shower, and will only do so with both the bathroom and shower doors open. She says someone keeps looking at her from the mirror, from the reflection in the shiny white surround, and she told me something talked to her in there.
Understand that while I write horror and have a very vivid imagination, the girls are not allowed to watch anything rated over PG. Kids are open to suggestion, so I suppose they could be picking this stuff up at school, but then, why just the oldest, now 10? And why do I brace myself before looking in the bathroom mirror?
Something is here.

but what you said is the only thing that has given me chills in a while.

I felt a presence of one possibly two spirits in the house at the time. When I was downstairs by myself, watching television, it felt like it was standing in the corner of the room, staring at me. I also had this feeling in the kitchen, where we have the computer. I felt like something was standing in the room, and staring at me. It followed me around the house and whispered my name, and stood very close to me, so that it made the hair's on the back of my neck stand up.
I thought I was going insane, that there was something wrong with me. This happened for a few months after my grandparents were buried. The next time, the spirit was around, was the scariest experience of my life, I will never forget it it. I was downstairs by myself, I felt a bit cold, so I covered myself with a blanket, I noticed the door handle to the living door was moving by itself. The door was not closed completely so you could push it open, if you wanted to. The door handle was moving as if someone was trying to open the door to enter the room. This happened to the door handle a few times, then the door, very slowly opened, but there was nothing there. However, I couldn't see anything, but I could feel it's presence. The room felt like all the air had been sucked from the room, and it was extremely cold, like a freezer. Even though I had a blanket on me, I could still feel this cold air. It felt like a vortex of cold air around me. This really scared me, and it takes a lot of scare me. Not long after that happened, I turned off the tv, and ran upstairs to tell my family what had happened.
My nan, knew her brother was going to die before he did. The same day the police told my nan, that he passed away. My mum had a dream, about a plane crashing when she was pregnant with me, she found out the next day, that there was a plane crash on the news.
Once when I went with my family to look at a house, they were interested in, my mum had a scary experience. She said we all went outside, and shes was upstairs by herself in the bathroom, and it was really steamy in the bathroom, so my mum wiped the mirror. She said that it was icy cold in the room, and there was someone in the bath, and it touched her shoulder. This really scared my mum, so she ran downstairs and outside and told what happened. My mum saw a ghost of a little girl with ringlets in her hair singing the oranges and lemons song (which I never liked, it gives me the creeps)She said it looked like a Victorian child. My mum also told me about, another house that she lived in where the owner, comitted suicide, and their dog would sit and howl in the direct spot where it happened.
Personally weird things have happened since I was 16.
I can also tell when something will happen before it happens. On the day my grandad died, I had this really intense feeling of sadness, and depression. It wasn't until later on in the evening, that we were notified that my Grandad had passed away. There was also other, strange things that have happened. One day my mum had to go to the bank in town, but I had a really bad feeling about it. Later when my mum returned, I found out that she was robbed in town, and no one helped her. In a previous house, that we lived in, I always felt like someone was pacing the landing, at the top of the stairs, outside of my room. There was also a robin,in the garden that kept appearing, every time it was in the garden it would get a little closer to the house. The way it moved was weird, because it was at the back of the garden, til it reached the window. Not long after this my nan, passed away.
Another experience I had, was when I heard something scratch my bedroom door,so I assumed it was my cat, but he was outside and waiting to come in.. I personally think this sixth sense is a gift, but sometimes, it is disturbing and depressing to know when people will die before it happens.

There is a spirit in your house. They try to communicate with us, by making noises, sometimes there is a smell associated with their presence, or you might see or feel their presence. If your uncomfortable or frightened by their presence then ask it to leave your family alone/leave your house. You have to be direct and make your intentions clear, because otherwise it might linger and never leave.
Once I left candles in my room in a particular way, so it looked like a symbol. Then there was something outside of my room, it was scratching at my door, and then the door opened, and it came in my room. I was terrified, I didn't know what it was. I felt like something was sitting on my chest, and I had my duvet held up to my face. That was one of the scariest things that has ever happened in my life.
