My apologies - for some reason, I never got a notice for this!
Technically, yes, you can overlook the "love" Triangle.
The way its written its more of a plot device and less about romantic indecision...

An Absolutely Marvelous Read!
Once again I was completely drawn into the story, I simply couldn't put it down!
I'm not 100% sure I'm satisfied with the ending though... it leaves quite a bit open... this could perhaps mean another installment?
There is a hint from the author about the possibility of a spin off series...

Set in London 1889, Children are to be seen and not heard. Sadly the same opinion is also largely attributed to the "fairer" sex.
Claire Trevelyan, however, objects quite strongly with this accepted social standard. Having a rather scientific enquiring mind, she constantly questions just about everything, much to the chagrin of her extremely "Proper" mother, and tutors.
But when Claire finds herself unexpectedly homeless on the streets of London, it is her sharp mind that will save her.
In the third installment, magnificent Devices, Claire and a few of her friends escape to the "New World" for an unscheduled vacation while the heat dies down from events in "Her Own Devices". They discover that things are often not as they seem, and its going to take their combined wits to survive.
This is a fun and exciting steampunk series.
Shelley Adina creates a fabulous (if not sometimes tedious-due to the era's male opinion of women) world, in which new technology is arising.
Characters which are brilliant and resourceful, proving that children are more resilient than adults give them credit for!
And a plot that will keep you on your toes!
I enjoyed every minute of my time with these characters, and eagerly await the next installment! :D
Dislikes
My singular dislike of the series was at first, the inevitable Love Triangle!
The choice between two men, one of which should not even have been an option.
Though I will give it to Shelley Adina, Hers is most definitely not your usual/average love triangle. And has a marvelous twist that completely redeems its existance!
Opening Line
To say the explosion rocked the laboratory at St. Cecelia's Academy for Young Ladies might have overstated the case, but she was still never going to hear the end of it.
