Twitter?

I forgot to tweet that my January and February 2009 book review columns are now posted for free reading at http://www.simegen.com/reviews/reread...
Books to be reviewed are posted through July 2009.
Previous years go back to 1993. I read a lot of books. The column is for a magazine so it has a "slant" and my beat is SF, Fantasy, Magic and anything that pertains to a New Age view. I sneak in a lot of vampire romance and other paranormal romance and relationship stories.

There's such a difference between the show and the books. What a sadness. :(

It seems to be the TV series but doesn't get into any thing too much to worry about. It is sometime hard to follow but you can also read it on the blog
Jersiryu's posterous who is putting it all in a form that is easy to read. I like to watch twitter and some times when you start following you may get a message and they will follow you back.

Daalmonette I finally got around to following you back. I'm really miserable with this plague I have... if I've missed anyone else that's followed me... let me know peeps!

Hi on twitter I am dragongranny and I am now following daalmonette.

Yesterday I had a slew of messages hit my email about people following me. I was a little creeped out since other than twitter replies... my tweets were about my whole impending death by plague. Are there that many morbid people out there or is that some sick twisted bent of twitterspammers? I mean it was kinda creepy!!!
Made me think about that dude who faked his death on LJ for "ratings". Sheesh. Creepy!

What am I supposed to write about? And why would anyone want to follow what I write? And how to get followers? Maybe some tips from the twitter addicts will be good.

The whole thing is "What am I doing right now?" Post that. What are you doing right this minute? You should tweet: I am reading a thread about twitter on goodreads!
See, that wasn't so hard! :) Get tweeting! It's so fun!

And whoever is twittering as Pam wants to get into Bill's pants.
Okay, I'm done rambling now!

Anita -- If you're trying to learn how to use Twitter for marketing, you should follow some of the folks who use it effectively for such things. Check these:
garyvee (a wine seller/blogger who just got a 10 book contract with Harperstudio because of his Twitter posts)
MalleVallick (Harlequin's own)
guykawasaki (venture capitalist, former Apple Exec, founder of AllTop, problogger)
neilhimself (Neil Gaiman, the author)
Once you're on those, you'll gradually find other interesting people. Just watch their streams and poke around in their followers.

Lisa, I've been tasked with the same challenge--how to bring social media on board and make it useful. We should talk because I can't figure it out either!

There's a lot of different ways to use twitter. :)

Links to new blog posts could be refashioned as links to new product announcements.
Sales could also be announced this way.
And if you were holding an event, you could use twitter to keep prospective attendees up to date by announcing new speakers or workshops you've added to the program.
But twitter followers can be fickle. Like anything else, you need to have it be more than just an advertisement. We follow authors because they not only tell us when their book will be released or when they're coming to town for a signing. They often post links to interesting news items or other authors they support.
But all this working positively for your business necessitates a media-savy clientele/target audience. And of course, a link to your twitter stream on your homepage and in your e-mail blasts.
I'll come up with more if you tell me what your businesses' primary purposes are.

At first I couldn't figure out what was the attraction to twitter and then I learned how to reply-
it's kind like instant messaging- it's cool.
For those who are wondering what on earth I'm talking about, http://www.twitter.com is a service that allows you to microblog or post status updates in 140 characters or less. You can friend people and reply to other tweets. It's a lot of fun, and I've gotten pathetically addicted to it.
I'm tdfangirl over there: http://twitter.com/tdfangirl
Anyone else use it?
