Lawrence, I had no clue! My mouth hung open for about 5 minutes after i finished. I found myself rereading a few pages saying, "No Way, No Way!!!" It was great. Nice twist.

I have Adam waiting in the wings... i am afraid. :O

Yeah, the one I'm reading right now involves a Satanic cult. It's making me really uncomfortable. I love demented works of fiction where serial killers do terrible things to people, but that's because they're not real. I can't lie to myself and say, "Don't worry about the Satanists in this book; they're not real!" because the stuff it talks about really happened. :/

One thing that's bothering me is that in my soon-to-be-published novel I thought I was taking creative license with some rather unsavory cult rituals, and it turns out that that stuff DOES happen. Yay me.

I think I am going to start The Running Man this evening after work. I haven't read it since I was in jr. high.

sorry you didn't like it. i found it interesting and understood the main characters single-mindedness for revenge.

Just finished The Maze Runner, and it was amazing :)

It's alright, I think it's because I am just not in the mood for that type of book. I have been reading a lot of horror/suspense/fantasy and that is what my brain is craving right now. If I try to force my way through it with my brain fighting it it's not going to work, so I just shelved it and will pick it up again later.

Surely you get into a stretch where your mind will only concentrate on one type of book and if you read something else your brain just shuts off and goes WTF? LOL

Yeah, I know what you mean, Lee. In order to enjoy a book, one has to be at least somewhat interested, otherwise what's the point? You're not going to get into the characters, care for them, the story, etc..

message 82: by J.S. (new)

J.S. Bailey (jsbailey) Right now I'm on a nonfiction kick. I've got to fill my gaping morass of a brain with more ingredients for the novel-stew that is always brewing in there.

I think... Les Miserables only counts as one, i think. Mister B; made my brain hurt.. it was just plain stupid. Not sure what else was horrible, because it made no impression... oh yeah, Getting out of Jersey.. yuck!

message 89: by Lee (new)

Lee (leeshirk) | 101 comments I finished Call of the Wild last night. It was okay, but White Fang is still my favorite London book. I don't have another buddy read coming up til the first of the year, so I think I am going to use the next two weeks to knock out a couple of books I bought but haven't gotten to. I need to get to Heart Shaped Box and The Princess Bride.

message 90: by Janie (new)

Janie Johnson Heart Shaped box is awesome Lee. Loved that book, been awhile so I need a reread on it. Pick up a good book and enjoy your free 2 weeks.

In the comment box, you will see 'ADD BOOK/AUTHOR'. Just type in the name, exactly and the book should pop up. It gives you many choices for covers/editions. You can choose title or book cover; or search by author. good luck!
