Get Ready - It's December Toppler Time!

Plan ahead - load a bunch of audio books and buy yourself some really nice headphones.

Bill Murray likes to do some gophering too! The scenes of him planning to get rid of those pesky gophers is what I htink of with all the book gophering talk."
That pic makes me want to go watch the movie now, which starts off a chain of watching "movies i love that i haven't seen in forever"

Lol. If you could find a way to bottle Toppler Marriage Support you would have..."
That would be the greatest badge of all.....top that with toppler invisible children formula and you could be the YLTO queen for life.

Or maybe, I'll phone her every 2 hours to make sure she is up and reading!

That would be great fun to have your husband play cabana boy!

For those thinking of Homemade Holidays and taking advantage of the extra 6 hours for a project, I want to add that magazines will qualify as your book. I'll edit the Toppler description to include this.
I know I have a few holiday related magazines that I keep around and look at each year, and I'm sure there are quite a few others that do too :)

I also need to make little piles of possible books based on what badge they qualify for. Then I can sit back and nibble on snacks and read...oooh, what books/magazines do I have with yummy snacks and appetizers??? ☺

We have heavy snow forecast for Saturday, so I'm not going to have anything better to do except curl up and read, hurrah!

I need clarification. May we read a book we had already started as long as we read at least 200 pages of it during the Toppler? I just started reading The Dovekeepers which is 500 pages long. May I complete that book during the Toppler and have it count?
The other question is - must we complete the book during the Toppler? I'm looking at the "read at least 200 pages" statement again.

Must also try to clear as much of my weekend as possible...

I need clarif..."
Second paragraph, Janice :)
The December Toppler is a 24-hour one and will start on December 8th at 10 a.m. EST and reading will end at 10 a.m. EST on December 9th. Books must be started and finished in this time period to qualify for a badge. There are no points in this Toppler, only badges.

Groan! May I claim dyslexia? Or something? How about distracted?
Thanks for pointing the way, Kat. :)

Debra - I think Almeta needs to stay with you, and Jeff should wait on ya'll - do you have a bell to ring when you need something?
I hope everyone gets a chance to read for a little while at least!
Aaaack! I just realized I have to go make badges! *starts trolling photobucket madly*

Haven't even thought about magazines yet!!! lol
Crazy fun! : )
@Judy msg 68: I love your choices! Now, I am in a panic because I cannot narrow my choices down to a realistic list!!!!

I'll head to the library tomorrow and get James Herriot's Cat Stories. It's short and sweet and....

I hope to finish at least one of them.
Yes, J'Mom, I'm trying to manipulate to suit my own purposes. I'll behave. Promise. (view spoiler) ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

You are too funny, but your manipulation attempts may cost you. I am thinking of appropriate penalties :)

You have to OWN the book/ebook/audiobook. NO library books, or temporary downloads.

Knocked out those that were less than 200 pages. I do have one that is 1,302 and I'm wondering whether I should knock that off the list too...hmmm decisions decisions.

ROFL! I'm sorry. I think I've lost a few brain cells along the way. I probably won't manage to read more than the one book anyway. I do own Room With a View, so I'm okay there.

I'll have to find something to add to it since it is a short book.
I may read A Raisin in the Sun

Not sure what else I will read in this category yet.
All Wrapped Up: might be
The Story of Lucy Gault

or
The Golden Compass

*Note: Subject to change!

LOL, I'm sure he will be grateful to have the break from waiting on me. He's getting pretty fatigued, too. He has a chronic disease that keeps him pretty tired.

*mind: may be Southern for take (hehe)

I've just read that short story for the first time - just beautiful.
I might see if I can't get through Mr. Ives' Christmas in the time. In between partying & recovering, of course...

I do have a box of books that's been sitting in the corner of my kitchen for weeks waiting to go to the library, which I forget every time I walk out the door. I'll have to make sure it goes. (Mostly it's my kids books, but I do have a few in there)

Good luck, Sam!
Glad to see so many of you participating.

I hope to catch two hours during my commute and more during the night, keeping awake. Sunday the next day will help me catch up on lost sleep. Off to figure out my book.
