I'm being a bit cheeky here creating a topic on what is generally acknowledged to be Ballard's 1st & worst novel
With all his other works it's possible to identify the author purely from the prose style. The Wind From Nowhere has none of these features.
However what I find interesting is that this book appears to have been expunged from the bibliography. It's not listed as one of his books in the currently published books and during interviews he tended to refer to The Drowned World as his first book.
I'm not even sure if it's still in print.
I'm not defending this book really just pointing out that a bit of airbrushing has been excercised in this case.
I think it's a great book. Certainly, it's his most conventional, but it isn't nearly as different from his other work as he liked to pretend later on.
