Hi. I have published a free novella on smashwords that is available for download but Amazon still has not made it free. Any idea on how I can do that? Here are the links to both Amazon and smashwords where the book is available. Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Serpentine-Love...
I may be wrong, but I don't think Amazon takes any notice of Smashwords when it comes to price matching and free books. Their bots search the bigger sites like Barnes and Noble, Sony, Kobo. Did you publish to the other sites through Smashwords? If so, you could check to see if your book is on them yet.
They used to have a button on the book's page to notify them if a book is cheaper somewhere else, but I checked your book and another and there was no button. Are they no longer price matching or just making it harder to notify them?
I think you're right, Linda. I was talking with a Kindle/Amazon person about a month ago on the subject of pricing, and I got the impression that they're not all that concerned about price-matching anymore, least of all with Smashwords. If B&N, Apple, Kobo or Apple has it free, then they might show some interest. But I suspect price matching on Amazon is something that will disappear. My new book is free for 3 days right now, but I had to to the Prime Select thing to do that. It's worth it to me to be able to control when and how long a book is free. I have to agree to a 90 day exclusive with Kindle. But then the Kindle lending is being pretty profitable for me right now.
