Werner | 109 comments A Goodreads friend of mine recently raised an interesting question. Unlike me, she's an avid player of the Neverending Quiz (I only take it if someone challenges me!). She says there are quite a few questions that list an incorrect answer as correct, or are apparently just designed to snipe at particular authors, etc. (I've never run into any of these, but I don't take the quiz very much.) Anyway, she says that flagging inappropriate questions, or raising an issue with the person who posed the question, usually has only limited success.

So, I promised her I'd put a question about this to the group. Is there a procedure for librarians to edit the questions, and correct for factual errors, make sure the questions deal with objective facts, etc.? Or would this be a question that's more in the Goodreads Feedback group's balliwyck?

All she can do, really, is flag flag flag flag. And make sure she's clear in the "comments" section on what is wrong with the question.

She can also go here:

http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/4...

with her questions.

Werner | 109 comments Thanks, Nora. I'll pass that advice and link on to her!

Philip (philiphabecker) | 12 comments I added a trivia question and clicked "add book" and "add author," but when I go to the book's page, the trivia question doesn't show up. How come? In fact, there's no spot for trivia on the book's page.

What do I need to do to have the question show up on the book's page?

message 5: by Philip (new)

Philip (philiphabecker) | 12 comments I've noticed this happening with several questions. I'll click on the the book link after the question and it doesn't show that there's any trivia for the book on the book page. (Other times it does come up, "more trivia.")

JG (Introverted Reader) | 487 comments That is weird. I found your question through your profile and linked to the book and it's really not there. It looks like you formatted the question correctly. Did you just post the question? This might be one of those infamous "caching issues" where there's just some lag time before it posts on the book page. Does anyone know for sure?

Here's a link to the question. And this is the book: Curse of the Blue Tattoo Being an Account of the Misadventures of Jacky Faber, Midshipman and Fine Lady

No idea. Might want to ask in Feedback.

Heidi | 6 comments Ok, I'm too stupid to fix this question:

http://www.goodreads.com/trivia/detai...

It incorrectly links to J.R.R. Tolkien as an author, but I can't find the link to delete. Does anyone else want to take a stab at it?

Got it. Eventually.

Tess (traditora) | 4 comments Ack! I messed up a question while trying to delete it:

http://www.goodreads.com/trivia/detai...

And then I noticed that I can only see the options Edit and Flag on the details page, but certainly not the Delete option!!!

*slaps forehead*

Could anyone be so kind as to delete this question, please? Thank you!

message 11: by jenjn79 (new)

jenjn79 | 564 comments I don't understand why the question should be deleted. It's still book related.

message 12: by Tess (new)

Tess (traditora) | 4 comments Well, yes. Maybe it was bad judgment on my part to listen to the people who commented on it and voted to delete it. I should've left it alone. But I didn't and in the course of not doing it, messed up the question (there used to be four answers instead of two.)

Is there any way to delete it at all?

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

to be deleted, the question has to be marked as incorrect. after it's marked and a reason has been given, an option to delete will appear at the top of the question

message 14: by Tess (new)

Tess (traditora) | 4 comments Thank you very much, Nora. This is exactly the answer I needed. I tried to search for a dedicated Help topic on the subject of the never-ending quiz, but couldn't find any. Is there a manual or something of the sort for the quiz?

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

nope, no manual that i know of.

It used to be that in order to edit any question, it had to be marked as incorrect first. The regular edit button was just added recently to make small changes easier, but you still have to mark as incorrect to delete.
