I'm thinking Standoff for option 1/compound word. Does that work for this?

I'd call that a compound word - that will work just fine.

Would "Earthsea" be considered a compound word --
even though it's a fantastical place?

I'll accept it.

Yes, I would accept this for Italy. This is a lovely book - enjoy it!

Fun task, BTW. Who doesn't love cookies?!

Thanks, Ann. And I'm making a batch of Buckeye Bars right now...I would have put them as an option but I couldn't think of any books to go with them.

What about Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said? (Policeman)

They turned out great - my family really liked them.

Buckeye Bars: read a book set in Ohio! *GRIN*
I love this task. I've been collecting all the ingredients I need for the cookies I send out as gifts, and I start baking on Saturday!

Either one of those would work for option 1.

Looks like a compound word to me. I'll take it.

One of my favorite holiday traditions is to get together with some of my friends and have a cookie exchange. Everybody brings a few dozen cookies - some to munch on at the party, and the rest to divide up between us and take home. For this task, please select two different cookies from the list below, and read one book for each. REQUIRED: When posting, please state which options you chose. Happy holidays!
1. Gingerbread Cutouts: read a book with a compound word in the title or subtitle.
2. Italian Spumoni Slices: read a book that is set in Italy.
3. Stained Glass Cookies: read a book with a church or a stained glass window on the cover.
4. Jam Thumbprints: read a book with "Mystery" listed as a genre on its main GR page.
5. Checkerboard Cookies: read a book with "black" or "white" in the title or subtitle. Plurals and possessives are fine, no other variations, please.
6. Lime Meltaways: read a book whose author's initials can be found, in any order, within the words LIME MELTAWAYS. Middle names and initials can be ignored.
