I am going to try and read this one. But I have to finish Shadowfever

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) I'd like to hear thoughts on this one compared to fever and compared to the highlanders.

I was not a fan of Mac & Barrons but loved her first highlander book. The world of the fever series was interesting, I was just turned off by Mac & Barrons, so I am wondering if I would enjoy the spin off since it doesn't focus on them.

So I'd appreciate a comparison of characters after someone has read this.

Amy ~Lover of Books~ | 675 comments I'm going to put off reading this one since I still have to finish the fever series first, but I think I'll reread the books since it's been 2 years since I've read most of the series.

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Ok, so lots of votes on this one, who is reading this month?

Vaughn guess i'll start. first of all i loved loved loved fever. Mac was a perfect stereo type as the southern bell. i enjoyed watching her come undone and put herself back together again. i was impressed that KMM was able to maintain the same ideals of the fever world but with a totally new eye. though its the same it still feels so different to me. its been a while since i read Mac's and Barrons' fever, so some of the minor themes i'd forgotten about but it didn't hinder me from being able to fully enjoy the story. i think the only thing that someone that had not read the first fever would be a little lost at would be the fully story of Dani and Mac, and the Abbey. however Moning gives so much info that i believe that anyone could jump right in.

Kyra I read ICED before I ever read the Fever series. I agree that the full Dani/Mac story would throw you in the beginning. At least it did me. But, once you got into it, I think it is ok. After a second read to pick up details, I really liked ICED despite Dani saying Dude and Feck every five minutes.

I'm now on the third book of Fever and can honestly say I do not like Mac. I can see the how People are comparing Mac/Barrons to Dani/Ryodan but to me that's just on the surface.

Steph Ann I'm someone who never warmed up to Mac until the last couple books in the Fever series, or at least, I disliked her a bit less. I like Dani much better as a narrator, although I did occasionally get annoyed by the repetition of "Dude". In comparing Ryodan to Barrons, I definitely like Ryodan more, although I can't quite put my finger on why that is.

I never warmed to Mac or Barrons. I only made it through book 2. Glad to see people are liking Dani better, I might put it on my to read someday list.
