Looking at series page looks like all but these three funky image files now added.

Can you repeat that with links and I will correct?

Book 13 (according to series order at goodreads; I speak very little Japanese) did not get image added because Image file link showed an orange x instead of bookcover. That's the same reason for 12 and 16 I think (I did not upload images to those two but apparently someone just did).

I put correct cover on book 9 and deleted invalid covers from books 12 and 16. Do you have links to the correct bookcovers for books 12, 13, and 16?

(Or is everyone else seeing bookcovers where I see the orange x? Looks to be all the yahoo.com links; I don't see an image link at all for Book 16 in original post)

Because you are the author, will do. Normally we don't delete that (instead add a librarian note that they are the same author).

I got the duplicate author off your book; but, looks like a super-librarian or staff has to delete the duplicate profile.

Actually, no. The book has the author's name in Arabic, and it stays. If the author wishes to also have his name listed in English (especially if he plans to publish an English edition, but even if not), that's perfectly fine. But we will not merge the profiles any more than we would for a non-GR member.

#36 - The cover for the first one, Seth Speaks, is for a different edition. In fact it looks like the full work (rather than only just the first volume) so I did not add it. It shows on the publisher site as ISBN 978-1-878424-07-5 which is different than the edition you linked to. It also doesn't seem to be Korean.

Checking the rest...Third and fourth are from booksellers and we cannot use them.

I suspect the fifth is also a bookseller and not a publisher - is that correct?

#36 Based on the translated text of the 'About us' section of their website I should say Laguna is a publisher. It begins with:

'The publishing house Laguna was founded in April 1998. From humble beginnings with a few titles published in a year, we came to the production of over three hundred titles published annually...'

So I went ahead and added the cover.

Why hasnt' good reads made it easy for peopel to add thier own cover?

You should be able to add your own covers Lindy. Did you claim your author profile?

It is easy. Anyone can add a new book and add cover at that time.

If book has no cover, an author who claimed their author profile can add at any time or ask librarian to help.

Legally covers cannot be sourced from booksellers (exception, the publisher's website). Goodreads has set some policies because of that so sometimes the cover requests in this group take a bit to get to a link or file upload librarians can use. And sometimes we have to revoke a cover being added because came from bookseller or overwrote an existing cover.

If book has an existing cover is where some goodreads policies come into play. Existing, published covers cannot be overwritten (librarian can correct with a better quality file but not change unless clear was not really a bookcover or was never published).

When authors update covers at booksellers (amazon, Barnes and Noble, kobo, google play, etc.), they are updating the edition for sell. Goodreads ain't selling. So we don't have the same policies but ran into so many problems with covers trying to be altered by members/authors so used to editing their products elsewhere it was causing problems that made goodreads set some policies.

Goodreads lets members catalogue books and once a bookcover or an edition (even an out of print, cover-since-changed, or whatever edition) gets added to goodreads and potentially member bookshelves—it doesn't get messed with. Instead a new edition has to be made for a new or updated cover.

Authors wanting to make sure their updated covers are the primary/default/featured editions, need to set that edition as the primary edition. (Otherwise goodreads uses the most popular).

[Edited] A picture or scan of your own book is very acceptable. If you click your own thumbnail photo and underneath the thumbnail choose "more photos" "and it will let you add more photos.

Once uploaded to your photos, let us know and we'll add to the book.

(Once we add to book, you can delete photo.)

On my book In the Face of Evil, I have a new edition and book cover that I would like combined into one issue. The only book available now is the new edition which has been completely reedited. How do I get this done? I've paused my ad and wish to get it working again.

@Tenna, if you want the updated edition/cover with the "finalist..." blue emblem that is the updated edition featured on your author page, searches, etc., what goodreads calls the "primary edition" or "default edition"—as the author you can now set.
