My Review
Into The Night’s blurb intrigued me, not only because this story was told from a male’s point of view, but just the entire premise.
I mean the thought of just a compound, where an individual can go and get a job battling the “monsters” It intrigued me. I had never seen anything as of yet with this fresh concept; what immediately came in my mind was Twilight meets Hunger Games…which are my two favorites.
But once I began reading Into The Night it became its own.
It tells the story of Logan, a twenty year old guy who has been on his own for at least a year, only having contact with his grandparents, having being cut off from contact with his parents. Now the reader is left in the dark, (until almost the end)… on why he and his parents are not on speaking terms, but it is shown that it does not seem to be Logan’s choice. So, we see the aspects of his daily life, which seems dismal but realistic. He is a hard worker, doing what he needs to do to survive. I am already very impressed with Logan for seeming so very responsible. But life throws Logan a curve ball and he’s fired from the piece of job he had, which was barely aiding him to make ends meet. His grandparents were willing to help him, but he did not wish to burden them, or have them on the outs with his parents. So Logan began searching for a job in the classified ads and found one that piqued his interest. Logan goes to the interview, and was asked some very strange questions….one being whether he believed in the supernatural? Logan was only told that the job consisted of a certain private businessman’s “collection” Although what that collection consisted of, was not fully explained. Logan made it through the interview and then was told that there would be another round of deliberations; once the entire process was completed, with special emphasis being impressed upon Logan that he would not have any contact with his family, and that he would be in a remote area, away from all he knew indefinitely, and was he okay with that? Logan being desperate, agreed to the terms and was given the job. So thus began Logan’s journey, where once in this “businessman’s” compound. Logan discovers that the collection were various supernatural creatures that battled recruits, which Logan was being trained as, in sparring events for the enjoyment of clients to Thomas, the man Logan found to be his employer.
So Logan discovers and befriends two recruits that are not as satisfied to remain in the compound and repeatedly attempts escape, Mack and A.J. Through these two, Logan hears of the physic and the witch , who will not allow anyone leave the compound. Soon Logan is drawn deeper and deeper into the daily life of the compound. He befriends Penny the physic and soon is drawn into her intense relationship with one of the former recruits who after a match was turned into a werewolf, Zane. While at the same time Logan finds himself extremely attracted to one of the “monsters” one of the most dangerous, a vampire called Pepper. So the story continues, and soon a tragedy occurs amongst Logan’s small group of friends and acquaintances, which spars a desperate act amongst the group, that has them on the run and crashing into a startling ending!
I really enjoyed Into the Night, it was not only a fresh take on the paranormal themes of vampires, werewolves and even the Hunger Games and combined these elements into a mixture that is uniquely its own. The story was well written and it had the perfect balance of mystery, adventure and romance. There were several twists and turns in the plotline that threw me as a reader for a loop. Meaning, the characters I believed would get together didn’t, meaning Penny and Logan…but Ms. Fowler did an astounding job in showing the tender and fierce devotion of Zane, the werewolf for Penny. Now at first this slight, I don’t now, “path” that was being taken…rubbed me the wrong way…such as in Twilight, when I fell in love with all in book one, such as Edward for Bella…only to be thrown off by Ms. Meyers, when New Moon did not have Edward…just Jacob! But after all this time, New Moon was my favorite of the series, and so it was the same for Into The Night, with Penny and Zane, I was almost breathless at the end with their romance. Which was not a lot of hoots and whistles, but more a quiet storm, which sucks you in!
The ending had me going…”no…no..no.,..don’t you dare do this to me, Ms. Fowler!(The author) But, the twist at the end satisfied me…SOME…now I am waiting impatiently for the next one to find out, what becomes of these characters I have grown close too.
If you cannot tell, I enjoyed this book and encourage you to try this book which I believe will be a “sleeper hit”, a seemingly low-key read that packs a punch!

Thanks so much for the opportunity to read and review, I really enjoyed it:O)

It sounds like the perfect job, but for Logan any job will do, because he needs one desperately. Told he will be helping to display a unique collection, it isn’t until Logan gets the job that he finds out exactly what he has signed up for. The unique collection is actually a group of supernatural creatures. And to display them, he will have to fight them in an arena for the entertainment of the rich.
Logan thinks it must be a hoax, but when he reaches the estate where he is to work and live, he finds out all he was told is true. Werewolves, vampires and zombies exist, and one day he will have to fight them.
Penny seems to have it all. Not only is she the adopted daughter of Logan’s billionaire employer, but she also has the ability to read minds and see the future. Logan and Penny quickly form a friendship, but they have obstacles to overcome to make it work. Like the fact that Penny knows everything Logan’s thinking.
But Logan’s thoughts aren’t the only thing Penny knows.
