Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments I know you half of you at least are dying ot talk about it so here you go, THE HOBBIT IS FINALLY COMING!!!!!!

I am so excited, I am not going to see the midnight opening because of family and the fact I would be too tired at midnight to truly enjoy the movie, not to mention the store where I get my candy is not open at midnight. But I am going after the opening weekend with family and friends and I am so excited!

And if this does not get your blood pumping check your pulse.

♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (tabi_card) XD I'm going to the midnight showing!!!! And yes, I am SUPER EXCITED!!!!!!! They are having a LOTR marathon at our theaters, buuut since it is like a day-long event my mom said we couldn't go haha but we'll just watch them at home XD

message 3: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments I am going to be watching the movies at home on Sunday, but I refusing to go to the theater when there are so many people. A) a crazy man might try and kill us all like in Colorado and B) I have decided I really dislike people and don't want to be around them. In our town it is small enough that after the opening weekend there will be like no one int he theater, specially at midday.

♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (tabi_card) Haha cool. ;)
And yeah, there usually are a lot of people on an opening night, but I usually have my dad and older bro with me. XD

message 5: by Peter (new)

Peter | 50 comments When the DVD comes out, I'm going to have a marathon session and watch the Hobbit and LOTR all at one time. Well, that's the plan. Whether it'll come to anything is another matter. It would be fun to try though

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

That's what my family wants to do when it's possible. I am really looking forward to seeing it in the theaters. XD

message 7: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments Yeah, but the Hobbit is coming out in three parts so you you will have to wait at least three years before all the Hobbit movies are out.

♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (tabi_card) But there's only 6 months in between the release of the second and third though XDXD

message 9: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments Really?! I thought it was going to be much longer, I wouldn't be surprised if the date gets pushed back though.

message 10: by ♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (new)

♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (tabi_card) Yeah, me either, but since they are filming all of them at one time, it makes sense XD

message 11: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments Oh my oh my OH MY!!! It is out in my town! Oh I can hardly wait till Wednesday, the day I get to go.

message 12: by ♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (new)

♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (tabi_card) Haha no way lol!!!! That's the day I'm going to see it!!! XD

message 13: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments Really?! Incredible, we can chat about it together afterwards yay!! All the people that were going to go with my are going today, so when I go they will all have seen it and I won't see them again till after Christmas.

message 14: by ♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (new)

♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (tabi_card) Shaweet and i know how that feels....my good friend saw it yesterday, and I had to let her know several times to not tell me anything XD
So she said that there was this part with a hobbit in there haha XD

message 15: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) | 246 comments I went and saw it today. It is absolutely worth while, and very nearly perfect. (OK a little long, but I can live with this.) Everything in the book is there, and then some. My only complaint is that the second movie is not available RIGHT NOW.

message 16: by Hayley (new)

Hayley Stewart (haybop) I absolutely loved this film! Saw it on Saturday and it was brilliant - I will be getting this on DVD to keep me going until the second film comes out and then I'll do the same for the second film and then the third will be the point I can just do Hobbit & LOTR marath.... you know what, it'd probably be easier for me to just throw my money at Peter Jackson ;P

message 17: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) | 246 comments And for Xmas I want a bunny-powered sled. What on Middle-Earth was Thranduil, king of the Mirkwood elves, riding? Could it really have been a moose?

message 18: by Hayley (last edited Dec 17, 2012 09:46PM) (new)

Hayley Stewart (haybop) It did look that way but with special antlers for the elf king that needs more luggage space ;)
For christmas my wish goes a bit further than the bunny sled... I want the group of dwarves, life would be so much more fun (and food filled) with them around!

message 19: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) | 246 comments Someone pointed out that even though he was a bachelor hobbit, Bilbo had no difficulty in feeding a dozen hungry dwarves who descended ono him unannounced. And Gandalf, of course.
I think that a riding moose would be very dangerous unless you could sit well back on the animal's rump. Those antlers would either brain you, or impale you!

message 20: by ♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (new)

♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (tabi_card) The thing to remember is that he was a hobbit. They've always got food!!!! XD

message 21: by Hayley (new)

Hayley Stewart (haybop) He was also very upset at the eating of all his food.... his nearest Tesco must be miles away :P

It could be dangerous but if you can pull it off how many people are going to mess with you! Plus I bet it would've really helped in a battle, ya know if he had bothered to help :P

message 22: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments I saw t this afternoon and simply ecstatic with adoration for it. Everything was there and so well done. Blended masterfully and the cutting and casting was fantastic. I wish they had added the full 'Misty Mountain" song, one because I like it and two the dwarves sang it so wonderfully. Love love LOVED!! it. I have no quarrel with it at all. Well I do wish they had also added all the riddles, but those are just tiny things. Cannot wait for it to come out. If my parents would let me I would go and see it again and maybe two or three times before it came out of theaters.

message 23: by Hayley (new)

Hayley Stewart (haybop) Christa - I'm already planning how many different friends I can get to come & see the movie with me all at different times ;)
This film really seems to have gone so well though I do think they may need to make a mention of why the group wasn't dropped closer to the lonely mountain... I heard some people who haven't read the book complaining about it being a bit pointless ;)

message 24: by ♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (new)

♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (tabi_card) Haha!!!! I am going to see it today....(plans got changed and I wasn't able to see it yesterday like I had been planning) but I am SUPER excited!!!! XD

message 25: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments They are making the "Hobbit" into three parts, so they have to end it somewhere! I was disappointed they didn't get to the mountain too, but that was because it was so amazingly good I never wanted it to end. The movie was 3 hrs long and I hardly noticed, I only felt like it was maybe an hour long.

message 26: by Hayley (new)

Hayley Stewart (haybop) Oh I know they had to end it somewhere & it's in three parts, I wasn't commenting on that.

It was the fact that one of my friends saw it who hasn't read the book and a few people commented on it coming out of the film that Tolkien should have just had the eagles drop them off at the mountain (this, as we know, is not an idea the eagles like) so maybe in the 2nd film they'll mention that (I think the eagles take them near Beorn's place in the book so maybe we have that coming in the film).

message 27: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments Well the Eagles landed them on the Caric, the bib rock the dwarves landed on at the end of the movie was suppose to be that I think. It wasn't how I envisioned it so I cannot comment. I was a little disappointed the dwarves did not stay the night with the eagles, because that was actually a fairly important part for later on in the story. Not sure how they will tie that in now.

message 28: by ♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (new)

♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (tabi_card) I HAVE SEEN IT!!!!!! XD

message 29: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments Oh yes?!! And.....did you like it? Was it everything you expected? What was your favorite part and what are sad they didn't get quite right?

message 30: by Hayley (new)

Hayley Stewart (haybop) Yay Tabi, what did you think of it? You seem rather happy about it ;)
Thanks Christa, I already knew that having read the book, I wasn't asking for an explanation but that was the start of my explanation to my friends :) I can't remember seeing the dwarves leave the rock at the end of the movie but I'm sure Jackson will work it out somehow.

message 31: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments Ahh okay, gotcha :D I saw someone thought the way they did Radagast was wrong, but I'll admit I've never given him a lot of thought and he was never very clear in my mind.

message 32: by David (new)

David I loved the movie.

I do think the Eagles need some explanation, mostly to those unfamiliar with the book. In the books it is clear the Eagles are not just servants of Gandalf at his beck and call, they are a great race who intercede for their own reasons. If you throw in the Lord of the Rings films, we now have the Eagles playing a large role in saving people in 3 of the 4 Tolkien movies. And on film, it does appear that when Gandalf comes, they listen.

This could be remedied with some dialogue in the next film. It also makes me wonder, would they possibly cut the Eagles from the Battle of Five Armies? If the Eagles just show up again, they will appear to be servants/saviors of the dwarves/Gandalf/elves/everyone in need who is a good guy!

I also thought the worst part of the movie was Frodo's cameo, totally pointless. Overall, I thought the film was great though.

♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (tabi_card) Christa - Ron Paul 2016 wrote: "Oh yes?!! And.....did you like it? Was it everything you expected? What was your favorite part and what are sad they didn't get quite right?"

I have to say I loved it, but as it going by the book, I was a little miffed that they changed a few things up/added things, but I thought it went great since they are doing this as a prequel to the LOTR trilogy PJ already made.
I would have to say my favorite part was the riddles in the dark XD Gollum was hilarious and yet creepy at the same time.

I wish the eagles had talked though, and they didn't feed the dwarves!!!!
And what's this with the dwarves hating all he elves??? They just didn't like the Mirkwood elves since they held them prisoner for so long....and that hasn't even come yet.

But overall I really thought they did well ;) And also my bro, who as read the Silmarilian, also said they threw parts from there that were going on at the same time the Hobbit quest was going on, so that made sense then ;)

message 34: by Dolores (new)

Dolores | 2 comments Saw the film last night. I kept putting off going to see it as had read mixed reviews but I thought it was fantastic! Yes it doesn't follow the book completely but still great film. Should not have doubted PJ after the great job he did on LOTR. Can't wait now until the second film. Thought the casting was spot on too!

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

I just saw it a few days before Christmas, and I love it, and I want to see it again, and I want it to be on DVD right now so that I can snatch it! XD

message 36: by ♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (new)

♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (tabi_card) XD Ikr???

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

Right! XD

message 38: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments I'm glad that, for the most, part most of us enjoyed it. Like I said the only thing I didn't like was the Eagles were not in it very long and I always loved that part. I loved the dwarves song and wished the whole thing was in there. Uhho I'm repeating myself, sorry.

I hope they add more songs in the next one :D

message 39: by ♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (new)

♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (tabi_card) And then my brother and I were talking about the whole "white orc" character....while he wasn't in the book or even mentioned anywhere, there was mention of the huge goblin guard of Bolg (I think I remembered that name correctly lol) and we came to a conclusion, that since the goblin king died, the Bolg person led the army, so instead of doing that in the end, they threw in this other character....if that makes sense to anyone reading this haha XD

message 40: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments Oh yeah I understand. I didn't really get him either, but in the end he wasn't a drastic change from the book, it made the journey a little more interesting during the parts between adventures for those who haven't read the hobbit so I am not too upset about it. But then on the other hand, I really wanted to see the goblins chase the dwarves from the mountain and met the Wargs and that whole part of the story about the woodmen is cut out because of the White orc, so I guess really I have mixed feelings on the matter.

message 41: by ♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (new)

♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (tabi_card) Agreed. I understand the movie maker's need for a source of conflict through the whole thing, a steady villain you know....but wasn't trolls, goblins, Wargs, Gollum, and various other incidents already enough lol?

I however, enjoy more on the Necromancer, as his rise was happening when the Hobbit quest was going on. He's actually the spirit of Sauron gaining strength ;) Read that in Silmarilian XD

message 42: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments Yes I loved that part! I was pretty sure they would emphasize that point as PJ was making in more into the prequel but I wasn't sure. I cannot wait till they actually get to Mirkwood to see what PJ is going to do there.

message 43: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) | 246 comments Did not get a bunny toboggan in my Xmas stocking. Seriously disappointed.

message 44: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments Hahaha, awwww poor Brenda. Did you at least get a wizards staff or something?

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

I just adore every of Peter Jacksons work, but this one was.... even a slightly bit more awesome than Lord of the rings!
And I never thought that this was possible, even with all the frodo parts in Lotr...
I´m going to see it again tomorrow, cause I just can´t stand waiting so long for the second!

message 46: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) | 246 comments Perhaps I will get a riding moose next year. Santa must have plenty.

message 47: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments Hahaha, Santa is so selfish sometimes though, I would be extra good just to make sure :D

I wish I could go with you Sanna, I want to see it again so badly. *sigh* But I must wait till it comes out. And part two "The Hobbit: The desolation of Smaug" will not be coming out till next December! Oh how shall I bare it!

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

I will be going again with my grandma, so that she can see it. And I want to see it again, so this is the perfect moment!

message 49: by Hayley (new)

Hayley Stewart (haybop) I have it figured out!! Until the DVD comes out I shall rely upon the internet for my Hobbit fix, then the DVD will keep me going BUT in the meantime I shall also use my going to see Les Mis in a week or so to divert my fixation on this film!!
I'm so sane and normal ;P

message 50: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) | 246 comments Les Mis is another bladder-buster, but it has all the power of the stage show. If you don't tear up at the end you're probably not conscious.
