Eric Newton I haven't started reading it yet. This book is about a man, Jeff Winston who is stuck in a tepid marriage and a dead-end job. He dies in 1988 then wakes up in 1963 at the age of 18. Jeff knows everything about the future but he doesn't know why he was chosen to replay his life.

LindaJ^ So what's the point for discussion? I've read it. They brief summary you provide is sort of accurate but Jeff dies a few more times and each experience is quite different. Best to discuss this book after you've read it. So dive in and get it done! It's an enjoyable read.

Penny It is a very enjoyable and clever read, I really enjoyed it.

John I've enjoyed this book so much, that I've read it three times over the years. I think it was new when I first read it. It's the best time travel book I've ever read, in my opinion. The fantasy of the book seems universal, in that the main character has a chance to live his life over many times while still retaining all he's ever known and experienced. I don't typically read books more than once, but this one is still good with each and every read. I'm laughing over the fact that I have three copies, a hardback, a paperback and now an ebook.

Michael Brown Absolute gem - and for something so rich it is a very easy read as well.

David Vincent I read Replay in the Winter of 1992. It is one of those books that have stayed with me. Replay makes intelligible our common question of *what if I had it to do all over again*. I have held this book in memory as the years go by--now a mere twenty-years later and how many wished for do-overs(?) It has helped me deal with the piling on of life's regrets. It has helped me become more okay, more contented, more thankful.

Joanne Moyer I also read Replay when it first came out and a couple of times since
and I made pretty much everyone I know read it. I also have a hardcover, a paperback and the ebook which I am looking forward to reading soon. This was one of those books I loved but no one knew so it's great to know there are other fans out there.

Trevor Osz This book is phenomenal. A friend of mine recommended it to me, and I loved it. It was one of those books that I just couldn't out down, and I agree that it may just be one of the best time travel stories ever told. It has also been said that the movie Groundhog's Day got its idea from Replay.

Karen Benedetto LOVE this book. Turned a bunch of my friends onto it years ago. Whenever I find an old copy of it, I buy it. Really fun read. Well done.

Joe Keene Great book, definitely will read again.

Ken Magee I really enjoyed the book and some of the comments above have made me think I should read it again!

Karen... how many copies of Replay have you gathered? It's a fun idea, I think I might start buying copies of Better than Life when I see them.

Donald J. Bingle I've read a lot of time travel books--I even own a company that put out a time-travel roleplaying game way back. This is by far the best time-travel book I have ever read (though I confess I also have a fondness for the simpler Time Corps series of Simon Hawke). Replay is realistic, funny, sentimental, and profound.

Karlus I enjoyed it, and have been thinking about it since finishing it not so long ago. Quite different from simpler concepts of time travel, with many unusual twists along the way. I wouldn't call it the guide to life, though. There are better books for that. But it illustrated to me that replaying one's life might not go the way one expected, or have the benefits anticipated.

Cateline Time travel is a favorite sub-genre, and Replay is a very different take on it. This is one I'll be thinking about for a long time.

And like "unseen" from The City and the City, "replay" will become a one-word joke between my husband and myself. :)

Jeff I picked up Replay after hearing about it on NPR several years back. I loved it, my wife loved it, and we recommend it to everybody. I am curious to hear opinions on Replay vs. the recent Life After Life.

Kim I read this when it first came out - excellent book! Looking forward to Life After Life, which has a similar theme.

John I thought Life After Life was a good book, but was no Replay. It's been a while, but if I recall, the main character sort of remembers things from her past lives, but doesn't remember everything as Jeff Winston does. The Life After Life book was very different from Replay.

Cheyenne I liked Replay much better than Life After Life. Like the previous poster commented, the main character in Life After Life doesn't really remember the past life, just a vague sense of deja vu in the new life. Plus, LAL just seemed to drag in some of the lives. Replay was definitely more interesting and entertaining and the character seem to have more purpose.

Dennyhil I'm a time travel freak. When time travel is well written by someone as amazing as Grimwood, there is so much that a creative mind and talented writer can do So many themes and places to explore. Grimwood does it best. This is my all time favorite book regardless of genre. It's perfect.

John Hmm, it's about time to read this book again :)

Rick Santiago Spot on, couldn't find my copy so needed to order again... Love this novel Replay, a friend gave me this book to read, he knew I like Greg Bear type novels, but this maybe a "sci-fi" but it's not really, just a darn good story that touches a lot of nerves and stirs up memories...

Mark Gardner I read Replay about every other year. "Repeat," by Neil Pollack isn;t too bad, and similar to this.

John Someone mentioned an NPR broadcast about the book, which I promptly found and listened to. I'm getting the urge to read the book again.

Bicky I am coming very late to this discussion but agree with everyone. The only difference is that I have re-read it to the point of satation but hopefully will be able to reread it again one day.
