Goodreads Authors/Readers discussion

I've heard people talk about auto-buy and i'm wondering if that means that they will 'automatically' buy any book an author puts out that they come across...or is there actually a way in Amazon or B&N to set up auto-buys for certain authors? There are several authors that I'd do this for...but I can't figure out if it's a real thing or just a figure of speech.
