Michael Logan | 9 comments Hello there,

I've noticed that when I expand the ratings detail box on my book (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12...), it has not updated for several weeks. There are 92 ratings listed in the summary, but the actual breakdown is only showing around 70. Is this a bug or does it only update every x reviews?

Regards,
Michael.

Is the summary on your author dashboard or the book page?

The book page is adding up for me (although someone may have refreshed your stats), but I cannot see you author profile - if it is there you should contact GR support.

Please provide a link to the edition that is having the problems.

Kevis Hendrickson (kevishendrickson) | 69 comments Hi Paula. I did some looking around in the Librarians group and found what I wanted to know. I've since used the "refresh ratings" feature to update the ratings stats on all of my books.

Thanks for offering to help. If I hadn't figured out what I needed to do, I would certainly have needed your help. It's great to know that there are so many helpful people on this site.

Bryn Hammond (brynhammond) | 42 comments I have this - and noticed in other books not my own. I'll link to mine and another:

The ratings are there up top, but 'rating details' say the books haven't yet been rated, so you can't use 'filter' either.

But if we do this 'refresh ratings' ourselves... where do we find that? Ta.

PS. Later. I've found 'refresh book rating stats' in the book's edit page, on the side. It worked, though I think I had to do it twice. Anyone else, try that a couple of times if no joy.

Michael Logan | 9 comments Hello Paula,

Somebody had updated it (I posted in the Librarians group first, was told it couldn't be done by a Librarian and sent here only for another Librarian to say it could be done). It is now fine. Thanks for looking into it, although I do wonder if this has to be done manually all the time now.

Regards,
Michael.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) It's not supposed to have to be done manually. I had posted a screenshot over in regular feedback group and am repeating here in case it helps anyone:

"In case a screenshot helps—to refresh book ratings manually, edit your book ("edit details" choice on book page), and at right roughly midway down is the refresh option.

screenshot to refresh book ratings

(I think if you are author of book you now also have an option to set the primary edition ; I'm not so can't show—only differences on your author screen I believe will be additional options) "

Gloria Piper | 49 comments Hi,
I've noticed that my book, Train to Nowhere, is missing a review. It was there earlier, and I notice it is there on Amazon, but what happened to it at Good Reads?

Kevis Hendrickson (kevishendrickson) | 69 comments Gloria, I just refreshed your ratings and your stats didn't change. My guess is whoever left you a review, deleted it.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) Plus amazon fairly recently implemented a rule that any review on their site had to be unique (and nothing to do with above issue but amazon also now has decided that authors could not submit reviews).

Patrick Brown | 276 comments I think there may be some sort of bug in the ratings details, so we'll have somebody look into it.

I've posted about the ratings details bug in the Goodreads Feedback forum for a while now, but no one seems to be doing anything. Here is the thread:

It would be great if something could be done, as it's affecting a lot of books from what we can tell.

Thanks, Mona

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) On a (possibly) similar note, I noticed that I "lost" some of the "# of people who added your book" stats and that they re-appeared later (e.g., the stat went down one day and back up the next). How does that happen? Does someone "un-add" the book and then re-add it later?

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) Oh great...now the bug is getting worse. Authors and librarians may need to refresh ratings TWICE — seems that frequently the first refresh clears all and the second time actually refreshes. So just watch out in case you need a second refresh.

(Hope this bug gets resolved soon!)

Jack Pyke (jacklpyke) | 2 comments Hi, I've tried to refresh my rating stats by going through "edit details" sections on my book page, but it's telling me I need to be a librarian to make that change. Is this right? This is the book in question.

Don't...

Thank you for any help.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) That's unfortunately sometimes part of the current bug issue; as a goodreads author, you really do have librarian status over your own books. Right group to report the bug and error message.

You can request in librarian group to have your ratings refreshed (staff can refresh also but with different time zones and no clue when their business day starts, the librarian group might be faster).

Thank you, Debbie. I'll pop over to the library!
