Goodreads Librarians Group discussion

I was adding a book to my currently reading list using the barcode scanning function on the mobile app. It pulled up a completely different book. I tried again by just typing in the ISBN (in case the barcode scanned incorrectly), but nope. It looks like 2 different books with the same ISBN.

The ISBN in question is 9780373486359. The two books are

I'm not sure what we could even try to do about this. Is the 2nd book added (Carpenter's Inheritance) just out of luck? And the ISBN has to stay in the book description?

It sometimes happens that 2 completely different books share the same ISBN (luckily not that often though), which seems to be the case here.

On Goodreads books are identified by their ISBN, which means, you can add an ISBN only once. The best you can do, is in fact adding the ISBN to the book description of the second book (and an according librarian note), so that people can be sure to add their exact edition and librarians don't get confused ;-)
