Kenny I'm planning on reading this book for the first time pretty soon (don't ask how I haven't read it before now). Since there are so many editions of this book, I was wondering if some editions are better than others, or if they're all pretty similar? I was looking at the Barnes and Noble Classics edition at my local B&N a few days ago, and it looked promising, but I'm open to getting another edition. I'd appreciate any and all info!

johanna (jo) You won't be dissapointed - it's an awesome book. Sorry ... I don't know much about editions, hopw you find a good one.

Mary The book is the book - all editions are the same, unlike say a translated work. The differences might be in supplemental materials and whether or not the book is annotated, which can be useful if you have not read a lot of Austen or from that era before. The other difference that I can think of is how big the font is.

And yes, it is an awesome book!

Kenny That's good to know. I think I'll go with the B&N edition then, as it's lower in price than most of the others. Thank you for your help!

Leah I read the one that Julianne Donaldson read. It's not abridged or anything, it just has this prologue thing written by another author.

Victoria Also note that this is classic literature; and you can find free copies to read online.

Jeni You can get this free through the Gutenberg project.

Diane I have thoroughly enjoyed reading two annotated versions of P&P by David Shapard and Patricia Spacks.

The Annotated Pride and Prejudice: A Revised and Expanded Edition
The Annotated Pride and Prejudice A Revised and Expanded Edition by Jane Austen
Pride and Prejudice: An Annotated Edition
Pride and Prejudice An Annotated Edition by Jane Austen

Marte I have the 1972 Penguin Classics edition. Everything from penguin is of great quality, and with lovely covers as well!

Allison If I'm grabbing it from the library, I read whatever they have. If I'm buying it for myself, I always splurge for the Everyman's Library editions. The books just feel good in my hands.
