I am not worthy, oh great
I have to go check out your "Q" country books. I just couldn't come up with much.

If the Sun Doesn't Kill You, the Washing Machine Will is set in Qatar, but only 192 pages.
I never did find an author born in Qatar, so I went with the province of Quebec, Canada (even though it is not a country.)! Of course I never got around to reading that far.☺

Oh - I have to read that one!

If the Separatist Party had won enough seats in the legislature, there was a possibility it could have been its own country. Unless it joined USA. Then you'd be back to the drawing board.
Not to worry that I'm dissing another province. We're just an ordinary dysfunctional family and Alberta has wanted to run away from home a time or two as well.

I did have that thought in the back of my mind. Just seems like a touchy subject.

Western Australia keeps on talking about it. Except they rely on all of the rest of us for everything besides iron ore...
And you'd get my Dad started after a few and all of the sudden you were back 700 year in the War of the Roses and how Yorkshire should be separate and god knows what else...

La la la.... I did not see these messages... (But for the history, that was 2 referendums, 1980 and 1995 , not seats.)

Thanks for the correction on the referendums vs seats. I generally go "la la la" as well and then get my info a little bass-ackwards.
Just to be clear - I wasn't making any judgements or criticism of the situation. I was just commenting about Almeta using Quebec as a country for the challenge and how close that almost was.

I know.... Whatever your opinion is, i respect it. My la la la was referring to my "i am not touching this as it is not the place for a political discussion, (as it must be done it front a beer).
