RandomAnthony | 14536 comments The "official" start of spring is in a few weeks, but I was struck this morning, on the way to work, on how we're very much in a transition point here in Wisconsin...ending winter, starting spring.

What will you miss most about winter? What won't you miss?

To what are you looking forward in spring? To what are you not looking forward?

Félix (habitseven) Let's see ... robins returning, red wing blackbirds, swans in the lake having babies, peeping frogs in the evening, warm breezes that don't turn into sub-freezing blasts the next day, and longer days. These are just a few things I am so ready for.

Oh, and getting 10 or 11 mix CDs in the mail.

Julie | 568 comments I love the frogs singing too.
And just that the days are getting longer.
I am tired of it being night be the time I get off work.
I love Spring!!!:)

message 4: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) He was good.

Frogs singing, tulips and crocuses pushing their way up, and longer days with a variety of new birds at the feeders as they migrate, all fun things about spring.

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments here is what i won't miss: scraping windows, being sandblasted sideways by icy winds, dirty gray snow piles, high heat bills and always feeling cold

what i will miss: fresh snow falls on my road before anyone tracks it up, snowballs, NFL football, holiday coffee and milkshake flavors

but what i am looking forward to is BASEBALL !!!! (and warmer temps of course)

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments I'll miss my scarves and mittens, but I wont miss my glasses fogging up when I go inside.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I can't wait to have a day warm enough to open up the windows and hear the birds for more than just a few minutes.

message 9: by Matthieu (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments I'm looking forward to my birthday.

message 10: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Trust me. You'll get over that some day, Matthew.

message 11: by Matthieu (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments Haha

message 12: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Trouble is, the older you get, the faster they come at you.

I hate spring. April is the cruelest month.

message 14: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Ah, but April in Paris ....

message 15: by Julie (new)

Julie | 568 comments I love Paris every moment...

message 16: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Paris, Illinois?

message 17: by Julie (new)

Julie | 568 comments Paris, Texas.

message 18: by Félix (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments My hummingbird couple is back. When I sit on the back porch reading, he comes flying up within a couple feet of my face and just hovers there, as if to say: "Where the hell is my sweetwater?!!" He found his mate last Spring, so now I'm hoping for little ones flitting around.

What I am looking forward to: sunshine, sunshine, sunshine, sunshine, Sunshine!

Oh, and coconut shrimp. I need to find that recipe.

message 20: by Lori (last edited Mar 02, 2009 10:35PM) (new)

Lori Northern Exposure fellow geeks, helloooooo!

I'm looking forward to not wearing socks! Wiggling my toesies around. And my mock orange and lilacs in blossom. And the birdies singing in the morning. And more light!

Next weekend is when we change the clocks. Weird.

message 21: by Nuri (new)

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments Noooo! I'll never make my 9am lectures....
I BARELY make them as it is.

message 22: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I like spring rains, the cold, hard, intense ones.

Wow, the clock shift is next week already? My wife's birthday is approaching, then. I count on it for a reminder:)

You are not a normal person, RA.

message 24: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Yeah, I can't get that one, either. I guess everybody has to like something, though.

message 25: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments [i just started singing "chocolate rain":]

message 26: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I do! They're...refreshing. And they make the snow disappear.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments A warm rain would melt the snow even faster, though. Or, hey, a nice hot day?

message 28: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Well, I like those too. But I also like the cold, hard rain. Of course, I don't get caught in it outside of choice, I guess. If I was on a bus stop in the cold, hard rain I might feel differently.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Actually, rain by itself isn't so bad. It's when it's rainy AND windy that's a pain in the butt for walking to the bus stop. It turns into a wrestling match with the wind for the umbrella. :(

message 30: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) That's Nature's way of telling you to stay home, Jackie.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Then it's a battle between Nature and Solvency, Larry, and Solvency wins. Rats.

message 32: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I suppose. Yeah ... rats.
