Jim (jimmaclachlan) I knew his writing best for his Kane stories & then I read some of his horror. I'm hooked. "Sticks", "In the Pines", & ... what's the one about the kudzu? Anyway, they're awesome & KEW was also a really good editor.

As much as I love Conan, I like Kane even better. Cursed to wander the earth until the violence he brought into the human race (he slew his brother on the mad god's altar) brings him down, he just keeps on getting into trouble. He's not a particularly nice guy, either.

Here's a place to discuss Karl Edward Wagner & his works.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) One of our members, John, mentioned he just had a book of short stories published, so I took a glance at his profile. What did I find, but he also has a KEW site!

On the first page he mentions the new KEW collection that Centipede Press published. It's 2 books & I'm looking forward to reading it soon. My wife will be giving it to me for Xmas. It's been sitting in my closet waiting since spring! I gave another set to my youngest boy. It was supposed to be his Xmas present, but he lives in another state, so I gave it to him when we last saw him at his wedding. He read it already & said it was great.

His birthday present was Exorcisms & Ecstasies, a great collection of KEW's stories with short introductions by his friends. It traces the course of his tragic life.

Where the Summer Ends, I think?

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Is it really? Wow. I still remember bits of it vividly, but it's been years.

I'll know for sure in a couple of weeks when finally I get my copies. I do own most of KEW's books, but it's been a while since I read any & I've stayed away from them this year in anticipation.

Charles (kainja) | 30 comments There's a fairly active facebook group on KEW. Maybe some of you are members.
