My family always read The best Christmas Pageant Ever around Christmas. There's also a great audio recording of it.

I just read The 24 Days Before Christmas by Madelyn L'Engle to my 7 year old granddaughter. It is one of my favorites and she liked it too!
Just reread for myself A Redbird Christmas by Fannie Flagg.

We read The Grinch that Stole Christmas.

The week before Christmas my kids and I would read The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Now they read it to their kids. I always cry when Imogene hauls in the ham! This thread reminded me of how much I love that book. This year I think I'll re-read it just for me!

The Cajun Night Before Christmas

My children and I always listen to the Cinnamon Bear every christmas. It is a tradition we all absolutely love.

Among our Christmas favorites: The Night Before Christmas, Who is Coming to Our House? board book, The Wild Christmas Reindeer, Santa's Book of Names, The Mouse Before Christmas, and The Christmas Ark.

Edited to add: The Christmas story from the Gospel of Luke. We also love A Child's Christmas in Wales and The Tailor of Gloucester, though I must admit we often watch the movies of those two rather than reading them. Ditto The Polar Express, though if we can manage it, we read that one as well as watching it.

The Children of Green Knowe - Tolly goes to stay with his elderly relative at an old house, and meets ghosts of children from his family, all set around Christmas.

There are some great books here! My daughter and I read The Story of Holly and Ivy by Rumer Godden every year. She is 14 but still loves that story. It is beautifully illustrated by Barbara Cooney. Look for it for next year!

I forgot to add "A christmas memory" by Capote. Just beautiful tear-jerky literature!

I read "A Christmas Carol" and "The Gift of the Magi" every Christmas.

My family has this Big book full of smaller books, that countdown to christmas. They're full of christmas stories and we read one every night.

I wish I could say A Christmas Carol, because that would be an amazing story to recount to children seated around a fireplace. After seeing the episodes of Boy Meets World where Mr. Feeny does the same thing with the Matthews family, I always envisioned myself doing the same when I had kids, but this past Christmas when I read A Christmas Carol for the first time and it took me about two to three weeks to finish, I figured that might be a bad idea. But then again, I had schoolwork to keep up with that most likely took most of my attention. But I would want to read my kiddos this little rendition of A Charlie Brown Christmas in book form on Christmas Eve, or the greatest Christmas story of all, in fact, the first Christmas story of all, the Nativity straight out of the Bible.

We read three mr men books dedicated to Christmas, one called 'Santa's new job' where he goes through a lot of different jobs before deciding delivering presents is best, and this year my boy got 'the dinosaur that popped Christmas' which is exactly as it sounds, but boys will love it.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is a great one. Nostalgic.

What age group is that sounds like something my son would love.

My son's five and he loves it. I think it's meant to be aimed at 4-8 maybe?

I have no kids. Which is a good thing, since I'm only 13 :)
