i know!! But seriously though, read the book before the movie comes out otherwise you won't enjoy it as much as you possibly could.

So worth reading! I found the first few chapters a bit confusing but I took my friend's advice and reread them after I had finished the book, so they made sense!
Don't worry if you didn't like Twilight, The Host is very different! And the love triangles aren't too bad... :)
Must read! I don't know if I will watch the movie though... If it is anything like the Twilight movies... (which I didn't actually see - going off others advice here) then I really don't want the movie to ruin the book!
Thoughts???

Same here. Favorite book and I always argue with my best friend about whether its amazing or not. I always win, lol :D

I'm not a twilight fan, but I adored the host. It was almost impossible to put the book down.

I love that Saoirse Ronan is Wanda/Melanie, I think she's going to do a great job. I saw the trailer before reading the book and when I watched it I thought it would be mainly Melanie's story and her quest to return to her lover. It seemed a love story set in a science fiction world with aliens but to my delight, I discovered Wanda in the book and I fell in love with the wonderful Jamie. Now, I would describe it as a book about humanity and yes there is romance, but not enough to feel the need to have the trailer revolve around it.
I still want to watch the movie though.

I read all of the Twilight series and The Host. The Twilight series is directed more toward the YA set, and The Host is more adult. It is so completely different than the Twilight books. I thought it was far superior. I hope the movie does it justice. I find that the majority of books that are made into movies fall flat. They do not depict the book and sometimes end up entirely different. I do look forward to the movie to see how it is done.

Yes, apparently she confirmed that she is working on the sequel.
I also watched the first trailer before reading the book, and I thought the same thing you did. Thinking it would be more about Melanie trying to get back to Jared, so I was a bit surprised when I read it and we were seeing it all from Wanda's perspective. I mean, you basically get Melanie's perspective too in a way, but I was still pleasantly surprised. It was interesting. And I love Saoirse Ronan, I think she'll be great too. I also liked having the idea of what Mel/Wanda and Jared looked like in my head as I was reading it, for a change, I think that'll make the movie more enjoyable for me when I watch it. Though Ian isn't what I pictured :( I pictured Ian bigger, more buff I guess. I don't know why. But I still think Jake Abel will do a good job.
I loved the concept of the book too, the whole peaceful aliens taking over the humans and trying to make their planet better, even though I was totally rooting for the humans the whole time. I liked the Twilight Saga but I loved The Host, and I can't wait for the movie.

I saw the movie and I didn't really care for it (I haven't read the book and don't plan to anytime soon). Wanda was just so annoying. You'd think that a very old alien would understand how to stay alive and wouldn't need a human to tell her exactly what to do.
