Pam | 1048 comments For Suzanne. WOW, you have the biggest TBR I've used for PIFM.
1. Book I loved the most that you haven't read: I would say either Rainshadow Road or The Witness. The best book I read last year (my only five star--I'm chintzy with the five star) was A Monster Calls which is a fabulous book but not easy to read.

2. I am most looking forward to reading Gunmetal Magic which is in the stack by my bed.

3. Light happy reading: I really liked Exclusively Yours and I just finished the third book which made me laugh out loud.

4. You haven't read the Charley Davidson series so start with First Grave on the Right.

5. Keep going with the Fever series-they just get better Faefever

6. Just based on the visual--from your TBR the fiery wings on Forgotten Portals: Rise of the Magi caught my eye

Random #925/13631 your TBR Mysteria
From mine #424/472 Love Bomb

Hope there's something here you like!

Renee Nicole | 175 comments Hey, Nikita! Loved your shelves, you have some great books in there!! Hope you get a few good ones out of these picks :-)

1. Recommend a book that you loved most reading in 2012. I've read some great books this year, but I'm going to have to go with On Dublin Street as (one of) my favorites of the year. I just KNOW you'll enjoy it, too!

2. Recommend a book by an author you are looking forward to read in 2013. Feral Sins is a book that everyone has been raving about, and also one that I can't wait to read.

3. Recommend a light, happy book to start off their New Year. Practice Makes Perfect looks like it's perfect for this rec!

4. Recommend a new-to-them series that you have read and enjoyed. I see Cut & Run on your tbr, so I'm gonna have to go with that one. Even if you're not a m/m fan, this series is amazing! I'll give you a back-up for this one, too. Defying the Odds is the first half of a wonderful two-book series that you've got to read!

5. Recommend a book off their TBR that they should have read but haven't: Gonna have to go with Dark Lover for this one. Great series, and the books get better and better!

6. New Year's Eve Fireworks: Hopeless is a newer book that has been getting TONS of praise. It's on my soon-tbr list, as well.

It's a BRAND New Year! I got Cait and the Devil from your list and Futures and Frosting from mine. Since it's a sequel, I think I can go ahead and throw in Seduction and Snacks, which is a hilarious read!!

On Dublin Street (On Dublin Street, #1) by Samantha Young Feral Sins (The Phoenix Pack, #1) by Suzanne Wright Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James Cut & Run (Cut & Run #1) by Abigail Roux Defying the Odds (Battered Hearts, #1) by Kele Moon Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward Hopeless by Colleen Hoover Cait and the Devil by Annabel Joseph Seduction and Snacks (Chocolate Lovers, #1) by Tara Sivec Futures and Frosting (Chocolate Lovers, #2) by Tara Sivec

That's cool, Sassafrass. I'm out of town, too, until the 5th, so I won't have a chance to read what you're picking for me anyway until then. :) Perfect!

Traci, I've got some rare time tonight, though, so I'll get your picks up soon! I love that you're an m/m reader!

message 160: by Shell (new)

Shell | 2 comments Karen H. I loved looking through your shelves. We have similar tastes in books, so I hope I found some good choices for you. If you'd like me to re-visit and pick again for you, let me know...

1. Recommend a book that you loved most reading in 2012 Between Sinners and Saints I noticed you've read some M/M. I LOVE Marie Sexton, and this is one of her best. I'll Be Your Drill, Soldier This will make you laugh out loud, cry and sigh. It's a wonderful book, but sadly the author is taking her time to put out the sequel.

2. Recommend a book by an author you are looking forward to read in 2013: I'm looking forward to reading Laini Taylor this year, as the second in her series just came out. I would recommend listening to the first one, Daughter of Smoke and Bone, in audio book. The narrator was tremondous. Additonally J.D. Tyler just came out with a new book that I'm dying to get my hands on and read next month. The first book in the series, Primal Law, was really good.

3. Recommend a light, happy book to start off their New Year: This book you MUST listen to. Bronson Pinchot narrates it and it is HILARIOUS! Think Princess Bride meets Diary of a Wimpy Kid, but 10x better! The Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom

4. Recommend a new-to-them series that you have read and enjoyed: The Iron Druid Series, beginning with Hounded. Again, I recommend listening to it instead of reading it. Luke Daniels, the narrator, does stellar performance! In a different light, Julia Quinn is wonderful in historicals. The Duke And I begins the amazing Bridgerton series.

5. Recommend a book off their TBR that they should have read but haven't (ex: Most-hyped book): All have gotten good reviews.Divergent, Vampire Academy, Some Girls Bite

6. New Year's Eve Fireworks - Recommend a book with fire or fireworks on the cover or a HOT new release that they are looking forward to: Gabriel's Inferno, This one was a fave: See Me

It's a BRAND New Year!

Nikki (nikkit23) | 121 comments Larissa, here are my picks for you! I hope you find something you like, but if not I'd be happy to try again! Happy Reading!

1. This one was tough because there were quite a few books I LOVED this year! I'm gonna go with either Dragon Bound or Easy. Both were 5 star reads for me!

2. For this category I'm gonna go with Lover Unleashed for you! I have not yet read any BDB books but I hear they are awesome so my goal is to start this series this year!

3. This one isn't on any of your lists but it definitely had me laughing and in a great mood when I was done! Seduction and Snacks (Another 5 star read for me) :)

4. I noticed you had a Kristen Ashley book on your tbr shelf, her Colorado Mountain series is one of my all time favorites! The Gamble is the first and a good KA starter book!

5. I have heard lots of yummy things about Once Burned! I have yet to read it, but its on my list as well!

6. Carnival of Souls definitely has fire on the cover! :)

Hi Sallie, I hope you find a book you like from my list of choices =)

1. Recommend a book that you loved most reading in 2012. It should be one of your favorites of the year.
I was going to recommend The Book Thief to you as it was my number one favorite read this year but I saw you had already read it! So I'm going to give you my second favorite, it's very interesting.

Everlost (Skinjacker, #1) by Neal Shusterman
Everlost

2. Recommend a book by an author you are looking forward to read in 2013.

James Patterson is one of my favorite authors, one of my favorite works of his is a The Maximum Ride series. I'm going to recommend the first book of this series and hopefully you like it just as much as I did.

The Angel Experiment (Maximum Ride, #1) by James Patterson
The Angel Experiment

3. Recommend a light, happy book to start off their New Year.

This book is actually on my own TBR list. It's a nice light read that is roughly 150 pages and seems like it will be a cute read.

Mr Poppers Penguins by Robert Lawson
Mr Poppers Penguins

4. Recommend a new-to-them series that you have read and enjoyed.

I haven't finished this series yet but I will in the new year. It's my Scott Westerfeld and I'm three books in out of the four. I hope you enjoy it as much as I am.

I have 2 books for this category. I saw Brisingr which I definitely recommend. I also saw some of the Pretty Little Liar books that I also recommend

6. New Year's Eve Fireworks - Recommend a book with fire or fireworks on the cover or a HOT new release that they are looking forward to.

A great new release this year was this one. I'm reading it in a few weeks once I get some other ones out of the way.

~KarenH~ | 11349 comments Hi Brandilyn!

I had a blast playing in your bookshelves – way too much stuff there that I want to read…my credit card is crying already and I haven’t even bought anything yet! I tried to make my picks to match your shelves – a healthy dose of m/m with a sprinkling of other stuff, too. I hope you like what I came up with!

1. Recommend a book that you loved most reading in 2012. It should be one of your favorites of the year. A couple from this year that I just loved – Out in the Field and Playing to Win.

2. Recommend a book by an author you are looking forward to read in 2013. A Taste of Love – I read my first book by Andrew Grey this month and really liked it, so I’m sure I’ll be reading more. OR Life Lessons – I haven’t read anything by Kaje Harper yet, but this was recommended to me a couple of months ago and I’m anxious to get to it.

3. Recommend a light, happy book to start off their New Year. Lumberjack In Love – I haven’t read this yet, but have heard it’s very sweet. Or, one of the most lovely, romantic and HOT stories I read this year that also gave me a giant case of the warm and fuzzies is Do Over.

4. Recommend a new-to-them series that you have read and enjoyed. I couldn’t come up with much in the way of m/m that I have read and you haven’t, but I did read Sno Ho recently. I only gave it 3 stars, but the farther away from it I get the more I want to continue the series. Or, if you want to step into some more main-stream contemporary, a couple of my favorite series are Maya Banks’ KGI series, starting with The Darkest Hour, and Shannon Stacey’s Kowalski family series, starting with Exclusively Yours.

5. Recommend a book off their TBR that they should have read but haven't (ex: Most-hyped book). A couple of total opposite choices here: George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series has been around forever, and you have the first few books on your TBR – the first one is A Game of Thrones. Or, a couple in the romance genre that I have been hearing a lot of hype about are The Reluctant Dom and Reflected in You. And even though it's on your wishlist and not your TBR, I can't let this category pass without recommending On Dublin Street. I'm FINALLY getting to this one in January, so it is a buddy read possibility if you're interested.

6. New Year's Eve Fireworks - Recommend a book with fire or fireworks on the cover or a HOT new release that they are looking forward to. Two hot new releases for you: Cherish – I just discovered this was out about a week ago, and I know I will be reading it in January, so it's another possibility for a buddy read. Another option is One True Thing – I don’t know about you, but I’ve been waiting for this to be released since the minute I finished One Small Thing!

It's a BRAND New Year!

And you don't know what's ahead of you. Pick two random books - one from your AND one from your pickee's TBR using random.org to generate the book number. (In the website, the maximum number would be the number of books in the shelf).
Ok, no decision-making needed here – from your shelves, Forever in One Second (#128) and from mine, Untamed (#344).

I hope you find something you like, if not let me know and I’ll be more than happy to tiptoe through your shelves some more! :D

Katie | 2083 comments Hey Traci! I hope you're able to find something that interests you here. :) If not, let me know and I'll repick for you.

1. Loved in 2012:
Almost Like Being in Love - To really appreciate this book, you've really got to go with the paperback. Since you might not want to buy a paperback, here's another suggestion...
Muscling Through - This is a really sweet story. :)

2. Looking forward to...:
Lover Unbound - Finally, we get Qhuinn and Blay's story this year. I'm really looking forward to it and hope it lives up to expectations!

3. Light and Happy:
My Summer of Wes

4. New Series:
Pride by Shelly Laurenston
The Mane Event - I LOVE this series. It gets better and better and I can't wait to read the next one. :)

5. TBR:
I'll Be Your Drill, Soldier - This is easily one of my two favorite m/m books EVER. It's really amazing and I so, so, so strongly recommend it to you!

6. NYE Fireworks:
Quinn's Hart - This is one of the most feel good stories I've ever read. Cassandra Gold is ALWAYS good for a pick me up and this book is her best.

7. Your TBR:
Kane and Abel

8. My TBR:
Sidecar

Thanks for the great picks, Shell! The one that jumped out at me immediately is I'll Be Your Drill, Soldier - I've been trying to get to that one for months, so now I've got the perfect excuse. The Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom sounds really cute, so that, Some Girls Bite, and Gabriel's Inferno are all on the short list. Some others sound interesting too, but I don't see me making it through more than those four...probably not even that many, but I'll try. Thanks again!

Nancy H | 1111 comments Skandia,
You have so many great books awaiting you on your TBR that it is hard to choose! I love looking at your lists. Here are my picks for you, and if you don't like them, I will be happy to add more titles from your great list!

1. Recommend a book that you loved most reading in 2012. Here are two that I loved this year: The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen and Georgia Bottoms by Mark Childress. They are both really good but in different ways.

2. Recommend a book by an author you are looking forward to read in 2013.
I am really looking forward to reading more by Robyn Carr since I just read the very first one in the Virgin River series. It looks like you are up to #6 in that series, Temptation Ridge, so my suggestion is to continue on with it. I am also looking forward to reading Mystery Man (Dream Man #1) by Kristen Ashley, which I see you also have on your TBR.

3. Recommend a light, happy book to start off their New Year.
I think Janet Evanovich is a good, quick read, and I see you are finishing her #8 in the Stephanie Plum series, so I suggest that you go ahead and read #9 which is To the Nines. Another author who is a good but light read is Jennifer Crusie. One of my favorites by her is Welcome to Temptation.

4. Recommend a new-to-them series that you have read and enjoyed.
I see that you have The Outlander by Diana Gabaldon on your TBR, and I have enjoyed the first two of that series. (I still have the sequels on my TBR as well.) Another series that you have on yours is The Tea Rose by Jennifer Donnelly. My daughter is currently reading that series and really enjoying it.

5. Recommend a book off their TBR that they should have read but haven't.
Two from your list that I really liked: Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel and The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley.

6. New Year's Eve Fireworks - Recommend a book with fire or fireworks on the cover or a HOT new release that they are looking forward to. Here are two from your TBR that involve fire: After the Fire (Firefighter Trilogy #1) by Kathryn Shay and Forged in Fire (Red Hot SEALS #1) by Trish McCallan

It's a BRAND New Year!

And you don't know what's ahead of you. Pick two random books - one from your AND one from your pickee's TBR using random.org to generate the book number. (In the website, the maximum number would be the number of books in the shelf)
From Mine: 45/923: A Slice of Murder (Pizza Lovers #1) by Chris Cavender
From Yours: 263/730: Almost Perfect (Perfect Trilogy #1) by Julia Ortolan

It is a pleasure to be paired with you again. I enjoy looking through your lists and I have seen many titles that I think I would like to read also. Again, if you don't see anything here that you like, please let me know and I will try again.
Happy Reading!!

Diane ~Firefly~ | 1512 comments Breann

I had fun looking through your shelves and I hope you find something intriguing to read.

1. Book I loved this year - All my 5 stars this year were re-reads and my favorite of them is Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie. A good romance with quirky characters and a major misunderstanding about a bet.

2. Book by an author I'm looking forward to read in 2013 - I'm looking forward to Magic Rises, but it isn't out in January, so you really need to read On the Edge by Ilona Andrews. It is one of your favorite authors and this series is almost as good as Kate Daniels. The cover is cheesy, but overlook it and give it a go.

3. Light, happy book - The Rocky Road to Romance by Janet Evanovich. Cute story where the hero will do just about anything for a chance with the heroine.

4. New to You Series - 2 different werewolf series you need to look into: Tempting Danger by Eileen Wilks has police detective Lily Yu who is null and Rule Turner, price of a werewolf tribe working on a crime to prove he didn't do it. Or check out Bitten by Kelley Armstrong. Elena is the only female werewolf and is having trouble adjusting. Clay is one of my all time favorite heroes.

5. Book off your TBR that you NEED to read - Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison had tons of hype and lived up to every bit of it. I'm not usually a fan of the super-alpha male, but Dragos was great and Pia had a few surprises up her sleeve.

6. New Year's Eve Fireworks - I couldn't find a good choice with fire or fireworks, so I went for a book set on New Year's Eve - Not Another New Year's by Christie Ridgeway. Cute romance.

7. Random from my TBR - #260 First Truth by Dawn Cook

8. Random from your TBR - #68 A Bit of Rough by Laura Baumbach

Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews The Rocky Road to Romance by Janet Evanovich Tempting Danger (World of the Lupi, #1) by Eileen Wilks Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1) by Kelley Armstrong Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison Not Another New Year's by Christie Ridgway First Truth (Truth, #1) by Dawn Cook A Bit of Rough (Rough, #1) by Laura Baumbach

Ty,
Thank you for the GREAT picks! I can't wait to get started on them. I am just now finishing up my December PIFM choice, Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh, but as soon as I am finished with it (hopefully tomorrow), I will gather several of these recommendations and begin to read them!

message 173: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments OK Amy - we have quite different reading profiles so I hope I can find something that appeals to you :) Because of this, in some cases I've given you two options. Here are my picks:

1. My most loved book of 2012:
Non-MM: The Art of Racing in the Rain. An audiobook that I loved mid-way through 2012. (Warning: No romance really, and it's a tear-jerker.)
MM: Between Sinners and Saints. This was my absolute favourite book of 2012. Not just a great love story but made me think with a little education along the way.

2. My fav author's book 2013:
Non-MM: Second Sight - I read a lot of Jayne Ann Krentz/Amanda Quick/Jayne Castle books when I first jumped back into romance. I found them very relaxing with a bit of quirkiness. Very mild PNR. Her writing reminds me of Nora Roberts.
MM: Prey - I don't think you are into PNR, but this is a great shifter series from a totally different angle. (MM romance is very lowkey.) I'll be reading book 4.

3. Freshness and light!
Non-MM: How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf or And One Last Thing ... - Molly Harper can't write a bad book. Great one-liners; high on humour and life-observations :)
MM: The Ghost on My Couch - such a cute fun story.

4. New-to-Amy series :)
Extreme Exposure - I think this series might be right up your alley :) Contemporary romance with a dash of mystery.
The Gamble - Kristen Ashley was so close to being our buddy read author for 2013! Give her a go anyway :)

5. Amy's 'must read' TBR:
Perfect Chemistry - I listened to this as an audiobook. Fantastic accent. Beautifully narrated.

6. New Year's Eve Fireworks:
Snapped - this looks pretty hot!
Up to Me - it's not on your TBR list but I'm sure it should be! And it's release date is 6 January :)

It's a BRAND New Year!

7. Amy's TBR: Rolled 5
You have two '5's! So it's either On the Island or Last to Die

8. Jane's TBR: Rolled 182
Why I Love Geeks (LOL)

The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein Between Sinners and Saints by Marie Sexton Second Sight (Arcane Society, # 1) by Amanda Quick Prey (Infected, #1) by Andrea Speed How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper And One Last Thing ... by Molly Harper The Ghost on My Couch by L.A. Gilbert Extreme Exposure (I-Team, #1) by Pamela Clare The Gamble (Colorado Mountain, #1) by Kristen Ashley Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry, #1) by Simone Elkeles Snapped (Tracers #4) by Laura Griffin Up to Me (The Bad Boys, #2) by M. Leighton On the Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves Last to Die (Rizzoli & Isles, #10) by Tess Gerritsen Why I Love Geeks (Why I Love... #1) by T.A. Chase

I'll definitely read Starch Contrast by Deanna Wadsworth (at 26 pages, there's no excuse!) But I'll also read one of these as well:

Awesome picks. How can I decide? I will try to read as many of those as I can.

I know One True Thing, Life Lessons, and Cherish are all going to be read in January as parts of various challenges so I will find at least a couple more of your suggestions as well. I LOVE Andrew Grey, by the way. I am currently working on one from his Love Means... series.

1. Recommend a book that you loved most reading in 2012. It should be one of your favorites of the year. I noticed you've read some of Kristen Ashley's books and enjoyed them. The Gamble was one of my favorites that I read in 2012.

2. Recommend a book by an author you are looking forward to read in 2013. Never Seduce a Scot by Maya Banks is the first book in her newest series and I'm looking forward to the next one. This was also one of my 5 star reads in 2012.

3. Recommend a light, happy book to start off their New Year. The Cat's Meow by Emily Carmichael looks good. I even added it to my list LOL

5. Recommend a book off their TBR that they should have read but haven't (ex: Most-hyped book) I know Bared to You by Sylvia Day isn't on your TBR, but it's a really good book that has received a lot of hype. Gideon and Eva are so broken and bring out the worst in each other, but you can see they love one another and try to work their problems out so they can be good for themselves and the other.

6. New Year's Eve Fireworks - Recommend a book with fire or fireworks on the cover or a HOT new release that they are looking forward to. I'm not sure if these are a "must read in order" series, but you had this one on your TBR Chains of Fire by Christina Dodd and there's fire on the cover ;) HOWEVER, I'm also going to put Red Velvet Revenge by Jenn McKinlay on here cause you've read the rest of the series and liked it and this was the newest one (I need to catch up on that series too LOL)
