Vi | 2794 comments Hi Fran! Thanks for the awesome recs. I have sooooo many good choices that I can hardly choose. It took me a while - really, it did - but I have narrowed down my choices for the buddy read option to: The Edge of Never, Darkhouse and possibly these two - Slammed & The Proposition. I *think* I have the first two. I'm a little on the fence about Slammed as I heard it contains poetry which I'm not a fan of but I'm game if you are. I would love to BR the rest but I figure it's better to stop now than to scare you :P

I've been wanting to read The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight after your review in the Random List but I just couldn't fit it in. I'll try to finish it off in Jan. And I just knew that I would get Hunger Games recommended when I did that category. I'm losing count on the number of people who recommended that :P

P.S: I'm interested in reading Hot Head but I don't have it on hand. Maybe later in the month/year?

We can read Hot Head any month, no problem. Let me know when you are ready for The Edge of Never or Darkhouse, no rush, any time :)

So glad you liked the picks :)

message 207: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments Jensine - Jane is right. Options 5 & 6 should come off your pickee's TBR but it does not necessarily be the ones you've read. Something that caught your eye or ones you've heard about that you think your pickee might like works. Of course, one random book from your pickee's TBR is also needed.

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments ok Katie Gianelli

here are my picks for you - I hope they work - I tried to get a mix of your to-read and new to you

1.
Grave Mercy or Forbidden - both of these were 5 star reads for me this year for various reasons. GM is a YA historical fiction/fantasy set in the 1500's and Forbidden is a contemporary but is a bit controversial

2.
Ride with Me - Ruthie Know was one of my favorite authors that I discovered this year and I can't wait to read more of her stuff in 2013
Between Shades of Gray - I was excited to see this on your to-read shelf, but Ruta has a new book coming out in February that I am waiting for

3.
How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf - Molly Harper is my go-to girl for funny books - this is the first one I read/listened to by her
Animal Magnetism - Jill Shalvis was a new discovery for me this year, even though she has been writing for a while - this while not direct humor, had some good one-liners

4.
Snow White Sorrow or Unwind - both of these came from your TBR - I really liked Unwind and looking forward to reading the second one and the third when it is released next year.

5.
ohh, so many choices for this one - but I opted to go for some books on your shelves - Divergent, Gone Girl or The Fault in Our Stars - I like them all for different reasons and for the most part, they lived up to the hype.

6.
Killer Librarian by Mary Lou Kirwin - I saw you had a few cozy mysteries on your shelf, I have this one on my TBR, if you are interested in buddy reading or Firelight (Darkest London, #1) by Kristen Callihan - I got this as a gift from a XMAS book exchange - so i'm open to reading it if you are

7.
from your shelves, random.org came back with What She Left Behind and from my read-in-2012 shelf (which will soon be read in 2013) - Mudbound

I hope there is something in here that looks interesting to you.

Brittany Lynn | 56 comments Photojim, I hope you like your picks. It was challenging to pick for you since you only have 1 current book TBR. Let me know if you want me to try again! :)

1. Recommend a book that you loved most reading in 2012. It should be one of your favorites of the year.Dark Lover by J.R. Ward well, the whole series so far is really great!

2. Recommend a book by an author you are looking forward to read in 2013. Safe With Me by Shaina Richmond

3. Recommend a light, happy book to start off their New Year. I noticed you've read some books by Rachel Gibson and I recommend her book Sex, Lies & Online Dating

4. Recommend a new-to-them series that you have read and enjoyed. Black Dagger Brotherhood, I wasn't sure of this series myself, however I find that I cannot put them down.

5. Recommend a book off their TBR that they should have read but haven't (ex: Most-hyped book) Bared to You by Sylvia Day isn't on your TBR, but it's a really good book that I've heard many great things about, it's on my TBR shelf as well and has received a lot of hype.

Christina (christinaovallsbooks) | 384 comments LethalLovely
Here are your picks!

1. Daughter of Smoke & Bone. I absolutely loved this book and can't wait to start the second one.

2. I have quite a few authors that I think I'm looking forward to reading this year. Ilona Andrews is one that I am going to continue with, so I would recommend Gunmetal Magic. A new author for me would be Robyn Carr, and I'm going to be reading Virgin River.

3. You don't seem to gravitate toward the light happy books, but I think Christopher Moore is funny, so I would recommend A Dirty Job. You don't seem to have read Janet Evanovich and I think she is hilarious. I think you will like One For The Money though.

4. Sherrilyn Kenyon - I loved her League Series and noticed that you have not read any of this series. Born of Shadowsis the one I read first (4th in the series) and loved the most. The woman in the book is definitely kick-ass, so I think you'll like this. I have read all of the books in the series and would recommend all of them. If you would rather start with the first, Born of Night is also very good.

5. Insurgent. You seemed to love the first one and I liked both books.

6. Fire on the cover: Firelight
Hot new release: Last Kiss Goodnight - I forgot this one was released last month and It was on your list that you were watching for release.

7. From yours: The Book Thief
From mine: Slammed. My list actually came up with Bared to You, but it appears you have already read that one.

I hope you enjoy your picks!
Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor Gunmetal Magic (Kate Daniels World, #1) by Ilona Andrews Virgin River (Virgin River, #1) by Robyn Carr A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore One For The Money (Stephanie Plum, #1) by Janet Evanovich Born of Shadows (The League, #4) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Born of Night (The League, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Insurgent (Divergent, #2) by Veronica Roth Last Kiss Goodnight (Otherworld Assassin, #1) by Gena Showalter Firelight (Darkest London, #1) by Kristen Callihan The Book Thief by Markus Zusak Slammed (Slammed, #1) by Colleen Hoover

message 219: by Penney (new)

Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments Hi Irina! I promised this morning, I'm sorry, better late then never I guess :) When I went to bed last night, after a brief glimpse of your shelves, I had a mental list of all the books I wanted to recommend to you. Then, on closer inspection, I realized you'd already read most of them. Lol! At least you'd given them good reviews so I knew I was on the right track. Let's see how I do with these picks...

1. A Most Beloved Read in 2012: I've only had a handful of 5 Star reads this year, Archangel's Blade was on your TBR and I also think you'll enjoy The Bronze Horseman as well.
Archangel's Blade (Guild Hunter, #4) by Nalini SinghThe Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons

2. Can't Wait to Read This Author in 2013!:
How can you resist reading Diana Gabaldon's Dragonfly in Amber when you've given Outlander 5 Stars? It's not even on your TBR. I am eagerly awaiting her next installment in the series, Written in My Own Heart's Blood that should come out in '13 *fingers crossed*. However, if you're not into reading long books this month I also noticed Jennifer Probst's The Marriage Mistake on your TBR. I'm looking forward to starting that series hopefully next month.
Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander, #2) by Diana GabaldonThe Marriage Mistake (Marriage to a Billionare, #3) by Jennifer Probst

3. A Little Light Reading to Kick Off 2013:
You read and loved the first installment of the Jane Jameson series, and you have numbers 3 & 4 on your TBR, but I don't see #2, Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men on any of your lists. Continue with this series, it literally makes me laugh out loud. For something a little different try Scoring Lacey, it was a very cute, quick read.
Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men (Jane Jameson, #2) by Molly HarperScoring Lacey by Jenna Howard

4. A New Series For You to Try:
I just discovered the Vampires in America series this year and absolutely LOVE it. It starts with Raphael
Raphael (Vampires in America, #1) by D.B. Reynolds

5. You Haven't Read That Yet?!:
I haven't read The Fault in Our Stars either, but I've heard nothing but good things about it.
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

6. New Years Eve Fireworks:
Well, you can't get more fire related than this, Chasing Fire. Or try another series I recently discovered and enjoyed, A Hidden Fire.
Chasing Fire by Nora RobertsA Hidden Fire (Elemental Mysteries #1) by Elizabeth Hunter

It's A Brand New Year, What Surprises Await You?!?
7. From My TBR & Wishlist:
#137, Broken Wings/Vegas, Baby and #60, The Beast in Him
Broken Wings/Vegas, Baby by Sandra EdwardsThe Beast in Him (Pride, #2) by Shelly Laurenston

8. From Your TBR:
#157, A Baby of Her Own
A Baby of Her Own (Dundee, Idaho Series, #1) by Brenda Novak

I hope you find another highly rated book somewhere on this list.
HAPPY READING!

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) | 280 comments Oh Lethal, great choices.
Magic Bites and A million Suns are definately in for January.

As for Wallbanger, I didn't realize it had been published. I read it long ago as a fan fiction. I loved it then, I may have to track down a copy to read it again.

As for the rest great choices, I hope to get to them in 2013, but Im pretty sure I wont make it in January.

Kami (aidansmama) | 988 comments Thank you Yz. I like a lot of those. In fact there are seven that I want to read. Don't know if I will get to all of the seven, though. I will start with Steel's Edge, Under Wraps and Mine to Possess.

THANK YOU: )
It's perfect. Sorry if it was hard I should have told you to pick them from both my to-read and to -think -about list. My to read list has the books that I either have or know I will read as soon I can get my hands on them. ;)
I'll read at least 2 in January, there is buddy read for on a wild night and pleasure unbound . And I'll read reason enough and shadow claim as soon as I can get my hands on them. I'll try to read one of the picks that are not my on my to read list too

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) | 280 comments For CaroB,

1. Recommend a book that you loved most reading in 2012. It should be one of your favorites of the year.
Secrets of a Summer Night, This was a series that I started and finished in 2012, I think i gave the whole series 5 stars. You have read a few by Kleypas, give these a try.

2. Recommend a book by an author you are looking forward to read in 2013.
Molly Harper could fit into everyone of these catergories. She has a few books just out and more to come in 2013 that I can't wait to get. I think you should start with How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf, but Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs would be a good one for you too.

3. Recommend a light, happy book to start off their New Year.
The Unexpected Roommate, light and happy is a good description of this one. I have a lendable e-book version if you want it.

4. Recommend a new-to-them series that you have read and enjoyed.
How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire, is the first in the love at stake series. I find them very funny and sweet.

5. Recommend a book off their TBR that they should have read but haven't (ex: Most-hyped book)
The Darkest Night or To Tame A Highland Warrior are both up there. Both authors have other series that I didn't enjoy but these two are really good.

6. New Year's Eve Fireworks - Recommend a book with fire or fireworks on the cover or a HOT new release that they are looking forward to. Wallbanger, is a book I just discovered has been published.

It's a BRAND New Year!

Your list:
178 is number 14 in a series youve only read the 1st of. So I am changing it to reccomend book 2: Dark Desire

My list: 377 Princess Charming, looks like a cinderella story. Hopefully you like fairy tales as much as I do.
