Ashley | 449 comments Hi Britt!
Here are my picks for you. If you would like me to make anymore or change any please let me know. I hope you enjoy them!
1. Recommend a book that you loved most reading in 2012. It should be one of your favorites of the year.
My all time favorite book of the year and the only book I gave 5 stars to this year was Law Man by Kristen Ashley. It is a part of a series but it does not have to be read in order. This book was wonderful and made me love Kristen Ashley as an author.
Law Man (Dream Man, #3) by Kristen Ashley

How do you feel about historical romance books? If you like them then my second recommendation for this portion is The Bride by Julie Garwood. I loved it. The hero and heroine were both amazing. And if you read it and like she has written many amazing books.
The Bride (Lairds' Fiancées, #1) by Julie Garwood

2. Recommend a book by an author you are looking forward to read in 2013.

In 2013 I cannot wait to read the next book in Ilona Andrews Magic series. Therefore I recommend the first book of the series to you. It is Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews. Which in case the name does not give it away a paranormal romance.
Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews

Another author I am looking forward to reading in 2013 is Frost, Jeaniene. I recommend you read Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost which a series about vampires.
Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost

3. Recommend a light, happy book to start off their New Year.

How do you feel about the Kama Sutra? Lol Hopefully good things because I am going to recommend Compromising Positions by Jenna Bayley-Burke. This is a nice light read about two people who end up teaching a Kama Sutra class together to couples. The class is set up in a Yoga style fashion but instead of lotus position the people are learning different sex positions. It was a cute book that made me smile.
Compromising Positions by Jenna Bayley-Burke

My second light read is Talk Me Down by Victoria Dahl. This book is about a erotic novelist and a semi conservative cop. It is funny to watch her turn his life completely upside down.
Talk Me Down (Tumble Creek, #1) by Victoria Dahl

4. Recommend a new-to-them series that you have read and enjoyed.

Okay my first new series to you is Patricia Briggs alphas and Omegas series. The first book is Cry Wolf. I admit to have a thing for shifter books and this series was one of my favorites.
Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1) by Patricia Briggs

My second one is actually on your TBR list. It is the The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole. While this first book is not my favorite of the series you did it as background for the other books. If you don’t love it please continue I promise you it just gets better and better as it goes.
The Warlord Wants Forever (Immortals After Dark, #1) by Kresley Cole

5. Recommend a book off their TBR that they should have read but haven't (ex: Most-hyped book)

I think the most hyped book from your TBR list is A Discovery of Witches by Harkness, Deborah. Which works because this is a great book which I think you would enjoy.
A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness

6. New Year's Eve Fireworks - Recommend a book with fire or fireworks on the cover or a HOT new release that they are looking forward to.

Hmm this one was actually pretty hard... Apparently I need to start reading more books with fire on the cover. My first recommendation is Gabriel's Inferno by Reynard, Sylvain. Notice the flames lol. While I did like this book it is a bit angsty. But I mean what do you really expect with a name like Gabriel’s Inferno.
Gabriel's Inferno (Gabriel's Inferno #1) by Sylvain Reynard

My second rec is one that I have never read before but falls under the HOT new release portion. The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorensen If you do decided to read it let me know if I should give it a try too.
The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden (The Coincidence, #1) by Jessica Sorensen

It's a BRAND New Year!
Random book from my TBR list-
Number generated was 100 which is Trust in Advertising by Victoria Michaels
Trust in Advertising by Victoria Michaels

Random book from your TBR list-
Number generated was 1 which is The Red Queen (The Cousins' War, #2) Gregory, Philippa
The Red Queen (The Cousins' War, #2) by Philippa Gregory

Christina, thank you very much for the recommendations! I think I'm going to read Insurgent (Divergent, #2) by Veronica Roth . I did enjoy "Divergent" but the lackluster reviews from Insurgent kinda scared me away. Time to bite the bullet! I also might read Last Kiss Goodnight (Otherworld Assassin, #1) by Gena Showalter .

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Brett, hopefully I found something for you to enjoy this month. Let's start the year off right!

1. I have two for you here. By looking at your books and ratings, I can almost guarantee that both of these would be 4+ stars for you. Tempted by Megan Hart and The Siren (The Original Sinners, #1) by Tiffany Reisz The second is on your TBR and the first is by an author you've previously enjoyed.

2. I'm really looking forward to reading Lord's Fall (Elder Races, #5) by Thea Harrison . It appears to be the next in the series for you as well. Possible buddy read?

3. You don't seem to shy away from some stuff that is a bit different. Bizarro, Sci/Fi, PNR, and others pepper your TBR. You have Grimspace (Sirantha Jax, #1) by Ann Aguirre on your TBR and it is a fun Sci-fi read. But if you want over the top sci/fi fun go with Slave (Cat Star Chronicles, #1) by Cheryl Brooks . Weird alien sex and the strangest restaurant scene I think I've ever read.

4. Flat-Out Sexy (Fast Track, #1) by Erin McCarthy is on your TBR. you could do far worse than this.

5. Two separate series here. Which is a bigger surprise that you haven't read? The Mercedes Thompson series and the Fever series. Both very popular and decent reads all the way around. They start with Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs and Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning respectively.

6. The Fireman Who Loved Me (The Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel, #1) by Jennifer Bernard is a decent first book in a series.

It's a BRAND New Year!

From my TBR, well, I only have one book currently on my TBR and that is Seduction and Snacks (Chocolate Lovers, #1) by Tara Sivec so my random pick is easy. As for you, Random.org gave me 27 for 1 to 717. That corresponds to A Perfect Darkness (Offspring, #1) by Jaime Rush .

Hopefully you find something here you like. If not, let me know and I'll try again.

(Jealous?...um...not me...well...um...maybe :) I couldn't find a romance series that I've read and you haven't. So I have two offerings for you from two different genres. I hope you'll consider them, they are both superb.

From Fantasy, my very favorite book and series. It is a romantic tale, although not a romance: The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.

5. A book off your TBR that you really should read. I couldn't resist the cover on this one! Beg for Mercy by Jami Alden

Slammed by Colleen Hoover was one of my favourite reads of the year and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Slammed (Slammed, #1) by Colleen Hoover

2. Recommend a book by an author you are looking forward to read in 2013.

I am looking forward to reading Maya Banks books coming out next year and thought you might like to try her historical romances which I love. Either In Bed with a Highlander from her McCabe Trilogy series or Never Seduce a Scot from her The Montgomerys and Armstrongs series.

I am also looking forward to the next book in Julie James FBI / US Attorney series. It looks like you enjoyed the first book in the series so I would recommend continuing with A Lot Like Love

In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #1) by Maya Banks Never Seduce a Scot (The Montgomerys and Armstrongs, #1) by Maya Banks A Lot Like Love (FBI / US Attorney, #2) by Julie James

3. Recommend a light, happy book to start off their New Year.

Reading Julia Quinn's Bridgertons series always puts me in a good mood so you might like to continue the series with The Viscount Who Loved Me
or
Talk Me Down by Victoria Dahl which is a funny entertaining contemporary romance.

The Viscount Who Loved Me (Bridgertons, #2) by Julia Quinn Talk Me Down (Tumble Creek, #1) by Victoria Dahl

4. Recommend a new-to-them series that you have read and enjoyed.

My favourite series at the moment has to be the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh. Since you have Slave to Sensation, the first book in the series on your to-read shelf, you should give it a go.

The KGI series by [auhtor:Maya Banks] is another favourite series of mine and I highly recommend the first book in the series The Darkest Hour

Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling #1) by Nalini Singh The Darkest Hour (KGI, #1) by Maya Banks

5. Recommend a book off their TBR that they should have read but haven't (ex: Most-hyped book)

Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning
or
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins since you've read the first two books, I thought you might like to read how it all ends.

Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins

6. New Year's Eve Fireworks - Recommend a book with fire or fireworks on the cover or a HOT new release that they are looking forward to.

Here goes my fourth attempt at posting this. Stupid GR kept swallowing my posts. Annoying. I didn't save the extras from my first post and so only the book picks are here.

Thanks for waiting patiently! I hope the picks work for you. If not, let me know!

1. My Favorites:
Most of my top books this year were series books. I've tried to recommend only standalone/first-in-series books.
Night Road
Seraphina - A beautiful YA fantasy that I didn't expect to enjoy so much
Beguiling the Beauty - Another great Historical Romance from Sherry Thomas

2. Authors I'm looking forward to in 2013
Magic Burns
Fool Moon
Ashfall

3. Light books.
The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
Sh*t My Dad Says - The audiobook is hilarious!
Dragon Bound

4. New To Them Series
Rosemary and Rue - The series gets exponentially better. The books are consistently in my top books
Nearly Departed in Deadwood
Mistborn: The Final Empire - I read this trilogy a few months earlier and I fell in love with it. Brandon Sanderson has now become one of my favorite authors.

5. Read This! Read This!
The Edge of Never - Fran recommended this to me as a buddy read and now a bunch of us are planning to read it. You are so welcome to join us.
Outlander

6. Fireworks!
From your to-read-first list:

The Darkest Night - I'm not a fan of PNR and I didn't enjoy this much but most if not all of my friends rave about this series.
Hell's Corner

Random Books to Start Off Your New Year!
From YOUR TBR Shelf: #32 - Jane Eyre
From MY TBR: #288 - The Cavendish Home For Boys and Girls - I'm open to buddy reading this.

Well, that's it. If you want me to re-pick, let me know! Hope you have a blast with your friends and family.

Tuğçe Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) Hello Pollyanna,

I am very sorry for keeping you waiting but here are your recs, hope you can find something you like.

1 Hopeless by Colleen Hoover - I have recently finished this one and it is one of my favourite reads this year. A heavy subject matter but nicely done.
Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles - this one is a little old but I have read in 2012 and enjoyed
Before I Fall by Oliver Lauren - Have seen this one in your TBR and it is a good one, I have read in a BR sometime this year.

2. Lover Unbound by JR Ward - I am looking forward to Lover at Last in 2013 and saw you have read the first 4 books in the series and enjoyed pretty much so why not go on. They are mostly good.

3. I am not really a light, happy book kind of a person, but tried to pick the best ones to suit here;
The Violets of March by Sarah Jio - I have recently finished this one, it is a nice and heart warming story with a tinge of mystery.
Match Me If You Can or Call Me Irresistible by Susan Elizabeth Phillips - I just love her books, they are never too fluffy and unrealistic, just enough dose of funny and sweet characters with a HEA without too much eye-rolling

4. Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione - I saw this in your TBR and it's not bad at all, so why not give it a try
A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin - I notice you haven't read those yet, I know they are huge both worth the effort, absolutely

5. Slammed by Colleen Hoover, as she is my new favourite author ;) this is one of her bestselling books and quite hyped about
The Maze Runner by James Dashner

6. Gabriel's Inferno by Sylvain Reynard - with fire on the cover
Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost - a new hot release

7. One from your TBR - 218 - Seers of Light by Jennifer Delucy
One from my TBR - 655 - A Room with a View by E.M. Foster

happy readings...

I saw the relatives off, took down the tree and decorations and finally got a chance to browse through your shelves. There might have been a little nap thrown in there somewhere, but I'm not telling. LOL.

I did have fun looking through your shelves and hope you enjoy your picks.

1. Recommend a book that you loved most reading in 2012. It should be one of your favorites of the year.
Kindling the Moon by Jenn Bennett -- This was a little more difficult than I thought it would be. Most of my highest ratings went to books further along in series than you're ready for. Instead of just basing the recommendation on one of those series, I decided to go with a new find of 2012. I really enjoyed Kindling the Moon & the second book in this series, Summoning the Night.

2. Recommend a book by an author you are looking forward to read in 2013.
Magic Burns by Ilona Andrews -- I've read all the books in this series and am anxiously waiting for the next one even though it's going to be a while. I would definitely recommend continuing with book 2.

3. Recommend a light, happy book to start off their New Year.
Taking Shots by Toni Aleo -- I've not read anything by this author, but the blurb looks like it's a feel good romance and it has a 4+ star rating. What could be happier than that?

4. Recommend a new-to-them series that you have read and enjoyed.
Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch -- Koch's humor is fantastic and I love her writing. Kitty is a take charge kind of gal, not waiting around to be rescued, with a sarcastic edge I love. I always look forward to another book in this series.

5. Recommend a book off their TBR that they should have read but haven't
Victorious Star by Morgan Hawke -- I saw a lot of great books on your shelves I would recommend, but this tops my list. I loved this book. According to your shelves, you own this. So don't wait, read this soon.

6. New Year's Eve Fireworks - Recommend a book with fire or fireworks on the cover or a HOT new release that they are looking forward to.
Wicked Hot by Charlene Teglia -- Even though I haven't read this particular book, I've enjoyed other's by Teglia.

It's a BRAND New Year!

And you don't know what's ahead of you. Pick two random books - one from your AND one from your pickee's TBR using random.org to generate the book number.

Your shelf: #449 Divide & Conquer by Abigail Roux -- I was worried when I saw this was book 4, but then I double checked your shelves and noticed you'd read book 3 this month. Even better, it's on your "soon my precious" shelf. (love that shelf name by the way)

My Shelf: #55 Wicked Ties by Shayla Black -- Book #55 is actually Belong To Me, but it's the fifth book in the series. I would definitely start with the first one, which is my favorite anyway.

Kindling the Moon (Arcadia Bell, #1) by Jenn Bennett Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews Taking Shots (Assassins #1) by Toni Aleo Touched by an Alien (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #1) by Gini Koch Victorious Star (Interstellar Service & Discipline, #1) by Morgan Hawke Wicked Hot by Charlene Teglia Divide & Conquer (Cut & Run, #4) by Abigail Roux Wicked Ties (Wicked Lovers, #1) by Shayla Black

Elke, I love all your recommendations! It will be a hard choice choosing which to read first (yes, I would really love to read them all even after jan challenge ended)

message 300: by Renee (new)

Renee Nicole | 175 comments Thank you, Daffodil!! Those all look so great, especially Touched By an Alien (which I've never even heard about). I'll definitely read that one and Victorious Star, plus I probably won't be able to spend a whole month without Ty & Zane. So Divide & Conquer will be getting read, too. More, if I can get them in!

Also, I would never begrudge anyone for napping! :-)
