That's really great that you enjoyed it! It's been quite a long time since I've read it, but I remember it being a sweet story. If you're looking for more Susan Donovan, I also really liked Public Displays of Affection. :)

Vi | 2794 comments OK, so we have 3 people yet to give their picks:

CaroB
Mariana
Traci

I've emailed all 3 people and I have heard back from CaroB. CaroB said she'll post her picks once she's back home from her road trip. Mariana and Traci haven't replied to my PMs.

So, REPICKS!

Dee picks for Roxy
KarenH picks for Brittany

Thanks all those who volunteered!

~KarenH~ | 11349 comments Hi Brittany - I should have your picks up within a couple of hours!

message 356: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments hi Roxy

Here are your picks - hopefully, something in them works for you!

1. Recommend a book that you loved most reading in 2012. It should be one of your favorites of the year.
Grave Mercy or Forbidden - I rarely give 5 star reviews (only 6 in 2012), but both of these earned one

2. Recommend a book by an author you are looking forward to read in 2013.
Between Shades of Gray or Letters From Home - both of these authors have books coming out in 2013 that I am eagerly waiting for or Web of Love* - since one of my goals is to read Mary balogh's backlist (and this one has been gathering dust for a while)

3. Recommend a light, happy book to start off their New Year.
you can't go wrong with Molly Harper - so how about her newest - My Bluegrass Baby or something different - how about Animal Magnetism

4. Recommend a new-to-them series that you have read and enjoyed.
Unveiled or Thirty Nights with a Highland Husband

5. Recommend a book off their TBR that they should have read but haven't (ex: Most-hyped book)
The Hunger Games or The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks or The Casual Vacancy

6. New Year's Eve Fireworks - Recommend a book with fire or fireworks on the cover or a HOT new release that they are looking forward to.
Firelight* or The Duchess War or Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet

7. Two random books
#67 from your shelf - 1Q84
#23 from mine - Love in a Carry-on Bag

message 359: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11349 comments Ok, Brittany, here you go!

I wasn’t quite sure where to go with a couple of the categories since you’re new enough that your shelves aren’t very extensive yet, and you don’t have a lot of your “read” books rated. So, I just gave you extra choices in several categories!

1. Recommend a book that you loved most reading in 2012. It should be one of your favorites of the year. Dragon Bound – Wonderful book, and the beginning of a really good series.

2. Recommend a book by an author you are looking forward to read in 2013.Lover Mine It looks like you’re working your way through the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, and I can’t wait for Lover At Last to be released!

3. Recommend a light, happy book to start off their New Year. It looks like you’re a big Janet Evanovich fan, and I thought Thanksgiving was just a blast, so why not give it a try? Or, if you’d like something new to you, Molly Harper is always good for a laugh. The first book of hers that I read was How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf and it was so much fun. Also, if you are at all into audiobooks, the narrator for this one, Amanda Ronconi, is great.

4. Recommend a new-to-them series that you have read and enjoyed. Since it looks like you’ve been enjoying the Black Dagger Brotherhood books, you may want to take a look at Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breeds series, starting with Kiss of Midnight. The two series have a lot of similarities but aren’t carbon copies of each other, and in some ways I like the Midnight Breeds books even better. Or, for something about as opposite as you can get, you might want to try Jill Shalvis’ Lucky Harbor series, set in a quirky small town on the coast of Washington State. The first book is Simply Irresistible, and as good as it is, they just keep getting better as the series progresses.

5. Recommend a book off their TBR that they should have read but haven't (ex: Most-hyped book) Bared to You – I just read this last month, and I thought it definitely lived up to the hype. Or Beautiful Disaster – I haven’t read this one, but it’s on your TBR and I’ve been hearing a lot about it.

6. New Year's Eve Fireworks - Recommend a book with fire or fireworks on the cover or a HOT new release that they are looking forward to. Sizzling Sixteen – Another Janet Evanovich title, but it has flames on the cover and conveniently, it looks like it’s the next book in the series for you!

It's a BRAND New Year
And you don't know what's ahead of you. Pick two random books - one from your AND one from your pickee's TBR using random.org to generate the book number. (In the website, the maximum number would be the number of books in the shelf)!
From Your Shelf: Father Mine: Zsadist and Bella's Story
From My Shelf Summer Desserts (Great Chefs, #1)

I hope you find something here that works for you, Brittany – if not I’ll be happy to give it another shot!

Finished my first pick, Tempted (Alex Kennedy, #1) by Megan Hart . Not what I was expecting, but I really liked it. I can't decide between The Siren (The Original Sinners, #1) by Tiffany Reisz or Grimspace (Sirantha Jax, #1) by Ann Aguirre to read next.

message 362: by Lina (last edited Jan 03, 2013 05:02AM) (new)

Lina Hi Mariana,
I hope you like these picks, let me know if you want me to try again. Apologies again for the lateness in my posting.

1. Recommend a book that you loved most reading in 2012.
Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth or Some Girls Bite (Chicagoland Vampires, #1) by Chloe Neill . These were both 5 star reads for me this year.

2. Recommend a book by an author you are looking forward to read in 2013.
Eternal Kiss of Darkness (Night Huntress World #2) by Jeaniene Frost and Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James

3. Recommend a light, happy book to start off their New Year.
The Bride (Lairds' Fiancées, #1) by Julie Garwood or First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones . Both of these are feel-good with some laugh-out-loud moments.

4. Recommend a new-to-them series that you have read and enjoyed.
Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling #1) by Nalini Singh and Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews . I'm a little bit in love with both these series, and noticed you hadn't read these books.

5. Recommend a book off their TBR that they should have read but haven't (ex: Most-hyped book)
Something About You (FBI / US Attorney, #1) by Julie James

6. New Year's Eve Fireworks - Recommend a book with fire or fireworks on the cover or a HOT new release that they are looking forward to.
The Elite (The Selection, #2) by Kiera Cass

It's a BRAND New Year!
And you don't know what's ahead of you. Pick two random books - one from your AND one from your pickee's TBR using random.org to generate the book number. (In the website, the maximum number would be the number of books in the shelf)

I just finished Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling #1) by Nalini Singh last night and really liked it. It's an interesting mix of romance and sci-fi, and I would not have read it without your (and MacWolf's previous) recommendation. Thanks for the great pick!

I hope to read The Fault in Our Stars soon, too.

message 377: by Penney (new)

Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments Hi Sallie! I finished Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor and enjoyed it. It was a sweet, short read. Then I made the mistake of watching the TV movie that aired last month. I may have to read it again just to get the bad taste of the movie out of my mouth. Why do I always insist on watching the movie?? They never do the book any justice.
Bottom line, I'm glad I finally read the book. Thanks!

Most Megan Hart stories are like Tempted. Yes, there is sex but I wouldn't really call it erotica. Mostly it's about the emotions and the characters. If you haven't already picked your next book, read Grimspace if you want the fun and The Siren if you want the kink. However, thee is a sequel to Tempted you might really want to read. Alex ends up in an interesting place.

Brandilyn (brandilynrc) | 869 comments Finished my first book from this challenge (well actually I finished it DAYS ago)

One True Thing (One Thing, #2) by Piper Vaughn

I loved the first book in the series and I loved this one as well. I love alternating first person stories like this. I was curious about the "evil twin" angle that I had heard about, but it was done very well. Of course I have a soft spot for Piper Vaughn and MJ O'shea's books.

message 382: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Hey Paulina!

I finished your rec for me, How to Repair a Mechanical Heart by J.C. Lillis . I really had no idea what to expect except that it has gotten some great reviews. I loved it! It was smart, funny, romantic, angsty. The setting of a sci-fi tv show convention tour was different and fun. The secondary characters, the lady shippers, were hysterical. I was touched by Brandon's religious conflict and his sexuality and was rooting for his HEA.

Thanks for a great pick!
