That sounds like a good idea Fran, as long as it's the first half of the month - I'm hoping to use it in the Around the World challenge...

I completed Phantom Pleasures a few days ago. It was a fun and easy read. Still considering reading Vision in White, depending on how quickly I finish my other challenges for the month :)

I put the rest of the series on my TBR list. Are you still able to do the buddy read of
Lord's Fall (Elder Races, #5) by Thea Harrison ?

message 411: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments Hi Rena, just finished reading one of my picks Against the Wind (The Raines of Wind Canyon, #1) by Kat Martin and I liked it alot. It's always great to discover a new author. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series. Thanks so much for the pick!

Now I just hope I can make that work! Just found out my insurance company finally approved surgery, after the second appeal, so reading might get interrupted for a bit.

Fran | 12278 comments So happy for you Kat!! Getting better comes first, just rest up afterwards and feel good :)

message 414: by Kami (new)

Kami (aidansmama) | 988 comments I finished my second pick Mine to Possess by Nalini Singh. I liked it but not as much as the last psy-changeling Caressed by Ice. I gave this one four stars. I think I will read Angelfall / Susan Ee next.

Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) Rebecca wrote: "I completed Phantom Pleasures a few days ago. It was a fun and easy read. Still considering reading Vision in White, depending on how quickly I finish my other challenges for the month :)."

Glad you liked it, Rebecca! I liked the second book in that series,
Phantom's Touch, too, and I've got Kiss of the Phantom on my Nook waiting for me to squeeze it into a challenge somewhere. ;-)

Hope you're able to get around to Vision in White. It's another fun, fast read.

message 416: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 822 comments I read Insurgent (Divergent, #2) by Veronica Roth on the 2nd I believe, Christina. Thanks for the picks! It wasn't as good as I'd hoped it would be (Tris got on my nerves quite a bit) but it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be from my GR friends reviews. Thank you for giving me the push I needed to continue this series.

This weekend sounds good. I started Grimspace and I can't put it down.

message 419: by Amy J. (new)

Amy J. | 349 comments I finished What's a Ghoul to Do? (Ghost Hunter Mystery, #1) by Victoria Laurie the other night. It was a very light, fluffy read, which made it a nice departure from the other book I'm reading (Crime and Punishment). That said, I don't know if I'll be continuing the series. There was something about the main characters that annoyed me.

message 420: by Nikki (new)

Nikki (nikkit23) | 121 comments I finished my first pick, Just Ask! I actually finished it on the 7th, and I really enjoyed it! It was my first m/m and I gave it 4 ★'s :)

message 421: by puppitypup (new)

puppitypup Emily, I finished The Duke and I, another great read full, full of humor. I also read Bared to Me, although it wasn't quite my cup of tea. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of your recommendations. I'm plowing through them quickly because my hours at work are going to ramp up soon. I'm so glad I participated in this challenge, very fun!

Thanks for the great picks. So far, I've read My First, My Last by Lacey Silks which I really enjoyed.

And then I broke down and read Easy by Tammara Webber which was fantastic.

I'll be moving on to About That Night (FBI / US Attorney, #3) by Julie James next!

message 426: by Brett (new)

Brett | 478 comments Finished up my third pick, Grimspace (Sirantha Jax, #1) by Ann Aguirre . Loved it! I have to admit BabyZ was one of my favorite parts, but also one of the saddest in the book. These are some awesome picks so far. Thanks, Photojim! Now onto buddy read. :)

Nikki ~ I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I finished it a few days before you. Once I started I couldn't put it down. It was nice to read a book that had no drama for a change.

message 428: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ | 2097 comments Finished my second pick Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2) by Darynda Jones didn't enjoy this as much as the first book in this series seemed a little slower IMO. However, I do enjoy Charley, the main character and her one liners. Have heard books 3 and 4 are better.

Hi Sallie, I finished The Witness yesterday. What a good read! Strong characters, good story and it never got bogged down in the typical Romantic Suspense formula. I like when things I expect to happen, never happen. It's refreshing.
Thanks again!

Skandia (sfgirl) | 972 comments Nancy,
I finished my first pick Temptation Ridge and liked it very much. Virgin River series is my comfort read. I like to come back to the familiar characters and read a new story about their lives. Thanks for picking it !

message 437: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments I finished one of my picks, The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling . Honestly, I expected much better from Ms. Rowling. There were flashes of brilliance, but mostly it was just "meh" and very depressing!

I'm glad I've moved this off my TBR shelf, though!

message 438: by Bror (Abrar) (last edited Jan 13, 2013 01:53AM) (new)

Bror (Abrar) (ab2y) | 152 comments I read Bared to You (Crossfire, #1) by Sylvia Day it was okay , sorry i didn't enjoy reading it and it took me too long to finish . I got bored most of the time and i absolutely hated the main characters .
I gave it 3 out of 5 .

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Rachel,

I finished one pick from my list, Linnea Sinclair's Rebels and Lovers (Dock Five Universe, #4) by Linnea Sinclair . As always, Ms. Sinclair's masterfully combines sci-fi with romance. I enjoyed the book and thanks for the push to get it off my TBR shelf.

Katie | 2083 comments Hey Sassafrass!

I just finished up Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor -- 4 stars. I liked it! It was different than the other books I've read from Lisa Kleypas...which is almost all of her historicals and Sugar Daddy. Short, though...

Thanks for the pick!

Carla (carlacollette) | 347 comments Larissa--

Thanks for the fabulous recommendations!! I just finished my second pick this month, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green . I absolutely LOVED it--a five-star book for me. It has incredibly memorable characters, clever prose, and decent plot. And despite a lack of cheerful silver linings, it still reaffirms the joy of a life and connection. Thanks for the great recommendation.
