Goodreads Authors/Readers discussion

Are any of you members of the Independent Author's Network? If so, do you find that it's helped to increase your book sales? It looks interesting, but it also seems that you need a Gold Membership to really get exposure there, and I don't have a great deal of disposable income if the basic membership isn't helpful. It would be helpful to hear from other authors that have used or are using them. Thanks!
