LOST - 2013

Roxana, the most common mistake with the challenge widgets is that people forget to be sure that their book is "shelved" on the shelf that they linked the widget to ... I would check that first to be sure you had done that.

I've just checked the challenge widget and it looks like you've committed to read 10 books but haven't created a shelf for it? or maybe you haven't added any book to that shelf? There wasn't a 'view books' link on your challenge...

The mistake I made at first was that I linked the widget to my "To Read" shelf. But then, after you read them and move them to the "Read" shelf, they're not there any more, so they don't count. I finally created a "LOST" shelf, and told the widget to look there. I won't delete any from there until next year, when I delete them all and add the new ones for next year.

My list include:
1. El Profeta by Frank Peretti.
2. A mind to murder by P.D. James
3. Emma by Jane Austen
4. La cuarta alianza by Gonzalo Giner
and others...
Oops. Now that there's a widget keeping track for me, I've been forgetting to post here. I've finished The Danish Girl 2/10, The African Quest 2/26, and Double Helix 2/28.
4 down, 6 to go of the first round. (I'm trying to do 3 rounds this year.)

Good going, Susan. I am rethinking this challenge. I think I need to change which list I am reading off of as the books that are on the list are not grabbing my interest at all. I would just delete them, but they are all ones that I own and this is how I keep track of what I own. Dang!

You can make more exclusive shelves, they'll just have an "x-" in front of the name. I have an exclusive shelf named "x-own" for books that I don't want to put on my "to-read" shelf. (And I have a non-exclusive "own" shelf that I put books on if I own them and either have read them or want to read them.) It sounds more complicated than it is, and it might solve your problem. Move them off your TBR shelf to the x-own shelf for now, until you maybe get interested in them later. Some of the books I'm reading now I've owned for 40 years or more, and I'm enjoying some of them much more now than I would've if I'd forced myself to read them earlier.

Ya, I have a shelf titles "to-read'mine" that is an exclusive shelf. In fact, if you look at my "to-read" or "want-to-read" (the garden variety) it has no books on it as I don't use that shelf at all. I think I have about 10 exclusive shelves, lol. Overkill, right? But I do have all of the books I own that are unread on one shelf. Not sure what would be good.....maybe have a mine shelf and then an upcoming reads shelf or something. I tell you, I drive myself crazy with this stuff, lol.

lol I love them, too! I'm wondering if you're a bit of a list maker, Lyn, or just really organized. This seems like the kind of thing I would do, and I'm definitely guilty of making lists.

Oh, yes!! Now I'm reading Emma.... (and trying hard not to kill Jane Austen again.. Don't get me wrong I love Jane Austen's books, but I'm afraid not Emma)

Ditto! Didn't like Emma either... and I especially didn't like Lady Susan.

I'm tired from Miss Bates talking :)
Knocked off my first one from the 2013 list! Also knocked off another from last year's list. Making headway
EDIT: I have read 2 books off of last year's list for a total of 3 books done so far.

Awesome! Keep it up ;)

I finished #5 yesterday: Julian Comstock. It was really only wanting to check it off this list that kept me reading, I think. I rated it barely above 2.5.
I've also moved Prodigal Summer and Drums, Girls & Dangerous Pie off my TBR shelf (As part of a spring-cleaning challenge, I cleaned off my TBR, and moved a bunch of things to a shelf I've named "considering".). So the remaining five on my list will now be
Hush
Rainbow's End
Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch
Impact
Wicked

Working on Midwives, which would make 3 on last year's LOST list and only one for this year's! Like always, I am working on the wrong list!!!

Good Luck, DG! It's so easy being distracted with shiny new arrivals, isn't it.

3. The Raw Shark Texts

8. Rebecca
9. Tomoe Gozen

That is so true! I find myself only reading books that just made it to my TBR this year.
That's why I picked some easy books for this list that I know I'll get to (romance and mysteries) because I put all those classics, I know I'll have problems with them!

I just finished my first book for this challenge. WOOHOO. Now I have done as well as I did on it all last year, lol.
yay, Candiss & Lyn!
I've just finished one (my 4th) yesterday so I've 6 left and one of them has been sitting on my bedside table for about a week so hopefully that means I'll be reading it in next 2 weeks, ha ha ha

Good for you getting four done, Tien. I was just looking at my list trying to decide which one to read next. I am determined to do better this year than last.
Ha! Ha! I made a new list this year as I was tired of my previous old LOST list of books. Then I created a LOST shelf for POTS which had all the lost books on them for the past three years that were unread...23. Of those, I have read 7; but, wouldn't you know, only one was from this year's LOST list!
So...my count for 2013 is 1 done.
So...my count for 2013 is 1 done.
I have decided to use my LOST list for POTS selections. Maybe that will get me further down the road on both challenges.
Sound like me, Bea. I have actuall already read 17 books that were on my TBR prior to 2013, but only one was on my lost list. :P
Thanks, I think I'm pretty good with my LOST list because it really bothers me that they've been there THAT long.

Reckon you could probably finish those 10 books in 2 weeks! Is that what you're planning to do in December? LOL

No, LOL! I'll work on them once this SRC finishes. I'm going to leave that group once the Spring challenge is over...it's just too stressful trying to work on that challenge with the blog and all other groups I belong to. I was happier when I was taking it easier - it isn't as if I don't read varied genres that I need some help. :) That's why I like this group!
I'm hearing you, D.G. though I'm not sure if I actually have the strength of will to actually leave the group! I'm way too obsessed! I really should make the point to concentrate on my own created games ;p
I have tentatively decided to not participate in the Summer SRC but still remain part of the group. I like the challenges but I am too obsessed about reading the books I planned and then failing to do so. Although I have not posted for Spring, I will. Then I hope to focus on RwS and PAS. I want to read more by my choice and less by have to. Any many of the SRC challenges this season did not lend themselves to other options.

I stopped joining too many challenges for a while and I really was happy with it...but then I was sucked back in, LOL! But I'll have to regroup again. :)
