Lynn Viehl's books are also vampire romances, but they are so fresh and new and filled with ideas that make me sit up and say, "Wow, I wish I'd thought of that!" The Darkyn books, e.g., tie into the Knights Templar of the 14th century. You don't have to know any European history; Lynn tells you everything you need to know as her stories unfold. And although the plot device of lovers overcoming obstacles is present (you've got to have conflict in order to have drama, after all) wait until you see how Lynn manipulates her stories and characters. Nothing she writes is hackneyed. Read the series in order, starting with "If Angels Burn". I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Hope you enjoy it :)

I tried to approach it from a different angle then you see in many books. Not that those books aren't good, but I just had a different concept in mind. I've always found the origin story of vampire tales interesting so I wove that in. I also wanted to address the changes that vampirism would bring to a person's life (both convenient and inconvenient).
Visit the blog for the series. http://enrightvampires.blogspot.com/p...

Hope you enjoy it :)"
Hi A.G., thanks for the "heads up"!

Thanks, Danielle!

Hi Laura, I missed the free download but did check out the blog!

Vampires abound in the Dark World Series. :)
Hi Laura, you can try the first two books in my new Dantonville Legacy series—Bloodgifted and Bloodpledge. It's set in Sydney and the heroine's name is Laura!

In the meantime, and I don't know how scary you want the book, but one of the novels I really love is The Strain by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan. It's the first in a trilogy. I've read the first two (hope to get to the last one soon). I found it really well written and eerie. It's one of my favorites.
My friend Brian Patrick McKinley released a book recently that is really good (he's also working on releasing a novel about vampires in the mob which I've read and is wonderful. He's a great writer). You can check this out. "Ancient Blood":

If you enjoy YA Vampire Romance, I'd be honored for you to check out my novel. It's a vampire coming of age kind of story. This is the blurb on Amazon:
CHOSEN AS ONE OF 400 FOR THE SECOND ROUND OF THE AMAZON BREAKTHROUGH NOVEL AWARD FOR 2014!!!

Could Maura's life get any worse? ...turns out it most certainly can.
Isolated and sheltered by her lonely mother, Maura's never been able to make friends. She seems to drive her classmates away—except for the odd times they pay enough attention to torture her—but she doesn’t understand why. Maura considers herself to be a freak of nature, with her unusually pale skin and an aversion to the sun that renders her violently nauseous. Her belief is only worsened by the fact that almost everyone around her keeps their distance.
Even her own father deserted her before she was born, leaving Maura alone with her emotionally distant mother, Caelyn. Even though Maura is desperate for answers about her unknown parent, Caelyn remains heartbroken and her daughter can’t bring herself to reopen her mother’s wounds. Or is there a more sinister reason Caelyn refuses to utter a word about her long-lost love?
When a cruel prank nearly claims Maura’s life, one of her classmates, Ron, rushes to her rescue. Darkly handsome & mysteriously accepting, Ron doesn’t seem to want to stay away, but Maura is reluctant to get too close, since her mother has announced she’s moving the two of them to Vancouver…nearly 3,000 miles away from their hometown of Indiana, Pennsylvania.
If life wasn’t already challenging enough, Maura begins to experience bizarre, physical changes her mother seems hell bent on ignoring, compelling Maura to fear for her own life. Vicious nightmares, blood cravings, failing health and the heart-shattering loss of Ron—as well as the discovery of a tangled web of her own mother's lies—become obstacles in Maura's desperate quest for the unfathomable truth she was never prepared to uncover.
I would be happy to provide answers to any questions :) The book is also on Smashwords, YouHeartBooks, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, GooglePlay and iBooks.
Thanks!!

It's 2.99 for most of September if anyone's willing to give it a shot. Hope I don't get bitten for a shameless plug.

I'm not the only one who sees this I have a lot of friends constantly watching this thread...

Thanks alot I will check this out

Hi, Shelley,
For what I imagine are realistic-type heavenly angels and hellish demons, try Frank Peretti's "This Present Darkness" and "Piercing the Darkness"--in that order.
Someday I will get over my current writing problems and finish my vampire series, and it also has angels and demons in it. My series-to-be is "AVS: The Anti-Vampirism Society." My current dilemma is that the first book is way too long and I must decide whether to cut a huge amount out (if so, what?) or break it into two books (a task that would involve more than I thought, because I was advised I would need to truly make it two separate stories).

Also, if you enjoy crime fiction and paranormal thrillers, then I'd like to throw in a plug for my new book The Endangered. Thanks to a successful debut (much of which I owe to supportive goodreads members), my publisher has placed a series order. So I can say that it's the first in a new series, with the second book due out next year. I invite vampire fans to sink their teeth into it ;-)

Interest was invigorated when a question about where/how the vampire myth/legend came about. My answer was that rabies could explain it.
That led me to look into it more and from the what if they are real. Hence my first book, Sundowners:Vampires are Only Human

Why did you choose to set the story in Sofia?

Gotcha. It didn't seem as if there were too many in this group anymore.

I started that blog years ago in response to a "contest" held by Francis called "Vampire Lover's Blog Award." People sent in questions to ask vampires. Blogging vampires responded by answering the questions. I like how my 5 vampires responded. If interested, go to the beginning of the blog (earliest entries) because the blog is listed most recent first. Even if you don't like the first few, you may like the later ones because I learned some better ways to write the interviews that upped the ante quite a bit. You'll see why if you read them. I think the last two are the best when it comes to conflict and revelations about character. You might not agree. I am curious for feedback. Comment on my blog, or email me at [email protected].
In other news, I didn't think to tell my Goodreads friends that in April I completed the first draft of YA vampire novel that is the first in the series the blog is about. I'm not revealing the book titles until they are ready to be published, but the series is called "AVS: The Anti-Vampirism Society.
If you want more about me, email me and I can send you other links, like my main website that talks about my editing services, my past publications and awards, and provides some of my stories, including some horror ones.

I like doing character interviews. It's a way to explore aspects of their lives and personalities that stories generally can't.

Congrats on finishing the first draft, Robin! I enjoyed doing the vampire interviews as well, and continued doing it for my latest book as well. It's published on my blog and on booksie.

so far. My vampires are very non-traditional, so a different vampire needs a different vampire story.
