Thanks, Leslie! Something about blue makes a cover eye-catching. And it's my favorite color. Could be that's why they appeal to me! :)

message 302: by Rebecca NJ (new)

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 2120 comments Tricia, I need to add a small discalimer - I'm not a huge romance reader. With that said, I wasn't impressed with Back to the Bedroom. I didn't really see much of a plot. I am getting into the Plum series and am finding them getting better as I pick up different ones. I am looking forward to Wicked Business and hope I have a calm day at work so I can listen to the audiobook today. Diesel is a great character! (And I'm fan of Carl the monkey too!)

message 303: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments I'm loving all the blue covers!

@Marguerite - JAK is a huge favorite of mine. I'm just finishing up a challenge reading all the Arcane books. I should say re-reading! And then I'm going to re-read all her Amanda Quick books. Love them!
Also, I couldn't find a blue cover for the Kennedy book. Am I missing something? Would love to include it.

I just finished my first blue book Of Noble Birth by Brenda Novak and I am starting my second.

message 304: by [deleted user] (new)

Leslie so far I am enjoying Fired Up (Dreamlight Trilogy, #1, Arcane Society, #7) by Jayne Ann Krentz which is book 1. Book 2 does not have any blue on the cover but book 3 does.lol

message 305: by ❉⊰Gayle⊱❉ (new)

❉⊰Gayle⊱❉ (ziastar) | 67 comments I finished The Boarding House by Sharon Sala . At first, I wasn't sure I'd like it. Books about child abuse are difficult to read; but, about halfway through, I was hooked. I'm glad I finished it.

Now starting Windwalker by Dinah McCall . I hope the cover has enough blue to satisfy.

message 306: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Gayle - yes that cover has enough blue. And I will have to add Sharon Sala's book to my TBR. I like her writing.

Marguerite - enjoy! One of my favorites!

message 307: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Rebecca wrote: "@ Melissa - I think By a Thread (Elemental Assassin, #6) by Jennifer Estep is a little too much green. But don't put it too far away...we could do this again soon with another color :)"

@Rebecca - I figured that... a girl can try though right?!?
Anyway it's a library book and I have to finish it for a challenge soon. No worries....now I'm gonna sneak and look for green covers so I'm prepared, lol

message 308: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Team D - I forgot to mention that the winner will get to pick the next mini-challenge! So start thinking of what you might like to do to challenge all the readers on our team!
@Melissa- I have green covers as well!! And I'm starting #2 of that series. You are way ahead of me.

message 309: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ I'm a little further than halfway through And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie . I'll apologize in advance if any of you are Agatha Christie lovers and state this is my first by her. This book is just so slow......or I just can't handle the writing style?? Oh and did I mention I have to read 2 more books by her for another challenge?!? Yikes - lol....

Maybe the Miss Marple or Hercule Poirot books are better? At least the book is only 217 pages ☺

message 310: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments I'm in the same challenge, Melissa and have to read her as well. I've picked some of her more popular books to read - I hope I have better luck. I've only read one of hers a long time ago. I remember it as being slow as well.

message 311: by ~Melissa~ (new)

Which ones did you pick? I actually picked this one because it was short. I remember my Mom loving her books. In fact there was a shelf in our house devoted to her books but I didn't read mysteries really at that time mostly romance books.

message 312: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 2438 comments ~Melissa~ wrote: "I'm a little further than halfway through And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. I'll apologize in advance if any of you are Agatha Christie lovers and state this is my first by her. This boo..."

That is one of my favorites by her. You might try some of her collections of short stories, they might be easier to get through if you are not liking the style. There isn't much graphic descriptions of bodies, but there is always plenty of "EVIL".

message 313: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 2438 comments I started Biting Cold (Chicagoland Vampires, #6) by Chloe Neill today for the blue cover, but I'm not sure if I'll finish by Monday.

message 314: by Rene (last edited Jan 17, 2013 08:01PM) (new)

Rene Lanier | 8 comments Just finished my eighth book and am started on number 9 - Blue Dahlia.

message 315: by Jane (last edited Jan 18, 2013 06:29AM) (new)

Jane | 705 comments I have now finished 2 books with blue covers.
De Novo Syndrome (DMB Files, #1) by Jim Buckner and The Scourge by A.G. Henley

So it is not impossible I will finished my third book before Sunday.
I have read 9 books this year and 8 of them count toward this challenge.

I am just now deciding what to read for A Winter's Respite Read-a-Thon next week and of the books I have looked at at least half of them has blue covers. LOL

Well, it appears that I picked this one, also. I'm interested to see what I think. But I also have down Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile. I picked these mostly because I love the movies and want to watch them again LOL!

@Jane - great work! I love all the different shades of blue.

@ Rene- You should get an extra point for having blue in your title as well!

@Diane-Firefly - You can do it!! I've started that series and would like to get back to it. I thought it had interesting possibilities.

Team- I'm about to start For Darkness Shows the Stars (For Darkness Shows the Stars, #1) by Diana Peterfreund . Does this have enough blue to count.

message 317: by Sherri (new)

Sherri | 726 comments Hi All!! Just got added to the group and so excited to play. I added what books I've read in 2013 to the team so hopefully I've done it right, still trying to get the lie of the land. :-)

message 318: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Welcome, Sherri!! So happy to have you join us. We are in the middle of a blue cover mini challenge if you'd like to check and see what blue covers you have. It's a great group!

message 319: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Welcome to the group Sherri!!

@Leslie - I think there is enough blue on the cover but maybe one of the other captains can verify ☺

message 320: by Rebecca NJ (new)

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 2120 comments @Leslie - I think there's enough blue in that cover. Enjoy!

@Sherri - Welcome! It looks like you had added your books correctly. Later today I'll go through to verify everything.

Keep up the good work everyone - I love the covers!

message 321: by Sherri (new)

Sherri | 726 comments @Rebecca - The only book I'm worried about is Shattered Circle. I can't recall when I actually started it and I don't understand about entering the start date. Still trying to figure that out.

message 322: by Rebecca NJ (last edited Jan 18, 2013 08:29AM) (new)

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 2120 comments I will say that entering start dates has even been a challenge for me because I've never used it before. A few things about this:

1. You cannot enter them using a mobile device and need to do it from your computer.

2. When you add a book, the "Edit Your Review" window opens. If you scroll down, there should be a date I read this book and a date I started this book. Some times you have to click on "More options" link to get the date started.

Hope this helps!

message 323: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Sherri - the way you enter the Start Date retroactively is go the book's page.
Click on Edit Review
Scroll down till you see Date Finished - under that you should see Date Started. If you don't - click on More Options
Then Date Started should be there. You can go ahead and put in the date. As long as you started this book on or after Jan 1 you are good.
In order for Date started to be there automatically you must click on Currently Reading.

Hope this helps.

And thanks Rebecca and Melissa for the okay on the blue cover.

message 324: by Sherri (new)

Sherri | 726 comments When I opened Shattered Circle it was showing a start date of 1/1/13.

I typically click the currently reading button when I start a book. So I think I'm good.

Thanks for the info that helps!

Also, not sure I can do a blue cover this time, I have a couple of books to finish for reviews, etc. The majority of them are purple and the closest one is Once Again a Bride by Jane Ashford and there is an awful lot of white to call it a blue cover. :-)

That's pretty much how I felt about her romances, and I'm a huge romance fan. I think you'll enjoy Wicked Business. I'm more than halfway through, hoping to finish it tonight. These characters are great fun! So far, Hatchet & Glo keep me giggling! I hope she plans to write more of this series!

message 326: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Diane ~Firefly~ wrote: "~Melissa~ wrote: "I'm a little further than halfway through And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. I'll apologize in advance if any of you are Agatha Christie lovers and state this is my firs..."

It might be that there are just too many characters? Although now with so many dead there really aren't too many, lol I don't know maybe I'll like the next one better. Next up I have The Murder at the Vicarage by Agatha Christie it's a Miss Marple oh and look it has a blue cover - I don't think I will get to it this weekend...

message 327: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Sherri, that counts as enough blue for the mini challenge! And glad I could help.

message 328: by Tea (new)

Tea (prettylives) | 17 comments Will this book Gods and Warriors (Gods and Warriors, #1) by Michelle Paver count? Its got blue. ..

message 329: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Absolutely, Tea!

message 330: by Tea (last edited Jan 18, 2013 01:56PM) (new)

Tea (prettylives) | 17 comments Awesome, will definitely be done by Sunday. Snow outdide means I'm not leaving the house. :)

message 331: by Tricia (new)

Tricia Schneider (triciaschneider) | 115 comments I finished Wicked Business (Lizzy & Diesel, #2) by Janet Evanovich . Now I'll tackle The Norse King's Daughter (Viking I, #10) by Sandra Hill .
When is the deadline for this blue cover mini-challenge? Is it Sunday or Monday?

message 332: by Rebecca NJ (new)

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 2120 comments Tricia - the end of the mini challenge is Sunday.

On a separate note, I am enjoying Wicked Business. I too hope she adds more to the series.

message 338: by Tea (new)

Tea (prettylives) | 17 comments Just starting Breathless by Dean Koontz

message 339: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments @Tea - Great job!! I've always been too scared to read any Dean Koontz, though I'm always somewhat tempted.

@Marguerite - No worries! It's important to read those in order, I think. Plus Burning Lamp is such a good book.

@ Melissa - no I'm really wanting to go back and read the Chicagoland Vampire Series! I love the blue covers!!

And sorry Team for any confusion about when is the end of the challenge. Rebecca got it right. I think I misspoke in one of my comments. Sunday at midnight!

We have several with 2 books read: Rebecca, Gayle, Jane, and myself. If I've missed someone, please let me know.
I also have several who have read 1 and may have started the second: Marguerite, Tricia, Melissa, Diane-Firefly, and Tea. Again, if I have missed anyone - please don't hesitate to let me know!

Next up is Wait For Me by Elisabeth Naughton . This will be a new author for me.

message 341: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Way to go, Gayle!! The first one sounded really interesting. And I just picked up the second on my kindle. I love Elisabeth Naughton. I am reading two of her series right now. Really good Indie author.

You do know that Dinah McCall is Sharon Sala? This is her first book in several years.

message 343: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments I did not until I looked up the book. She is an interesting author. I've read 2 or 3 of her RS books. This sounded very different.

message 344: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 19, 2013 02:27PM) (new)

Leslie I have read 2 blue books so far. The next one will be three.

Blue book already read:

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 2120 comments Leslie - I currently only have one finished - Back to the Bedroom by Janet Evanovich

There are a few more in the works I might get done by tomorrow.

message 346: by Sherri (new)

Just finished Burning Lamp (Dreamlight Trilogy, #2; Arcane Society, #8) by Amanda Quick . This book to me was boring to the max hence the 3 star rating I gave it. This second book in the dreamlight trilogy had the same story line as the first book in the series just different names and a different time period. All I can say is I hope the third book in the series is better than the second.

Just started Midnight Crystal (Dreamlight Trilogy, #3; Arcane Society, #9; Harmony, #7) by Jayne Castle . Which will be my 3rd blue book once finished today.

message 349: by [deleted user] (new)

Just read the first 6 chapters of Midnight Crystal (Dreamlight Trilogy, #3; Arcane Society, #9; Harmony, #7) by Jayne Castle and I can't finish it. I already see where this book is going from reading book 1 and 2.

Just started Sky Blue by Travis Thrasher . Now this will be my 3rd blue book.lol
