message 421: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments I finished my 4th blue book today No Proper Lady (Englefield, #1) by Isabel Cooper and it was very interesting. A paranormal historical with some time travel thrown in. And now I've started Jade Island by Elizabeth Lowell and I'll also be starting Working for the Devil (Dante Valentine, #1) by Lilith Saintcrow which will be a new author for me.

message 422: by Jane (last edited Jan 22, 2013 06:55AM) (new)

Jane | 705 comments I also finished my 4th blue book today. Dogs Don't Lie A Pru Marlowe Pet Noir by Clea Simon
And the one I have started now is also blue. Legends (Legend of the White Dragon, #1) by Melanie Nilles

message 423: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Way to go, Jane!

message 424: by ❉⊰Gayle⊱❉ (new)

❉⊰Gayle⊱❉ (ziastar) | 67 comments I finished Against the Wind (The Raines of Wind Canyon, #1) by Kat Martin , my 4th blue cover. I liked it.

In progress now are The Lady Chosen by Stephanie Laurens and The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey .

message 425: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Congratulations on the 4th blue book! I liked Kat Martin's book as well. I'm looking forward to reading more and my library has them to check out as ebooks!

message 426: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Hope everyone is having a good day! I finished Jade Island by Elizabeth Lowell It was pretty good. I do love Elizabeth Lowell and this is a pretty good romantic suspense series. I've also started Working for the Devil (Dante Valentine, #1) by Lilith Saintcrow which is a new author to me. So far, it's interesting. And I'm also reading The Perfect Wife by Victoria Alexander for a little relief from the UF world.

Leslie, could you let me know how Working for the Devil is when you're finished? Lilith Saintcrow has been on my 'authors to read' list for a while and this book looks good.

message 430: by Marla (new)

Marla | 1803 comments Finished 2 books on Saturday: Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver was well written but I just couldn't get over my dislike of Sam and her mean friends and Lost (Joseph O'Loughlin, #2) by Michael Robotham was a great character driven mystery.

message 431: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Tricia - I'm on page 211 and when I started it I wasn't sure but now I like it. The writing is good and it flows pretty quickly. The author throws a lot of terms at the reader without explanation and that's a little confusing at first. I have some personal problems with the storyline and world she has created, but it is a very interesting world and Dante Valentine is a very interesting character.

Lost is the 2nd book in a series, but the first book was written in a different character's POV and I didn't like Suspect as much as Lost. Why don't you look at my review of Lost? Hope this helps...

I would also love to know what you think of The Snow Child. It looks kind of interesting. :)

message 435: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments Finished Working for the Devil (Dante Valentine, #1) by Lilith Saintcrow and gave it 4 stars. Really gritty, dark UF but I liked it alot.
Just started Purity in Death (In Death, #15) by J.D. Robb and The Queen of New Beginnings by Erica James for another challenge. I love Roarke and Eve and the In Death series! Not to sure what to expect of the other. It was a freebie.

message 436: by Alley (new)

Alley (alleycatfish) | 198 comments I finished The Black Lyon (Montgomery #1) by Jude Deveraux this morning - it was very meh.

Started The Eight by Katherine Neville this afternoon and will start Buried Bones (Sarah Booth Delaney, #2) by Carolyn Haines tonight.

message 437: by Rebecca NJ (new)

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 2120 comments I am really enjoying all the different covers! Hopefully in the next few days I'll be able to finish up a few - currently on the reading stack:

The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf Threadbare (A Needlecraft Mystery,#15) by Monica Ferris Wake (Watersong, #1) by Amanda Hocking

message 438: by Rebecca NJ (new)

Thanks everyone for your hard work. We'll start another mini-challenge soon!

Here's the latest standings:
Team A - 416 books
Team B - 452 books
Team C - 450 books

Team A is doing a read-a-thon this weekend so their numbers might really increase. We'll have to see.

I have total faith in us. Just realised as I type that sounds like the worst pun ever.

Is there any reason we can't also do a read-a-thon/mini challenge this weekend?

Not that my exams just finished and I'm annoyingly keen or anything... ;)

message 446: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 2240 comments We are working on it and should have something announced soon! I'm so glad you are itching to read and I love the play on your name! My son is engaged to a girl named Grace and her sisters are Hope, Faith and Joy. Play on their names comes up alot!!

message 447: by Leana (new)

Leana (Flickering Fandom) (flickeringfandom) | 264 comments I'm raring to go now exams are finished. Even though there's plenty of dissertation work and stuff to do, I feel so much lighter now!

Haha that's lovely! it's actually my middle name but I have an awkward first name that always gets pronounced wrong, so I've adopted Faith for all my blogging and internet needs :) plus its kinda fun, and I do love the name!

I know for me personally that school is taking a major toll on my pleasure reading. This may be the case for others as well. Just wait until a break comes and we will be in the runnings again :) But seriously though team A is a beast!
