Ashley (ashleym) | 145 comments So, here's my problem. I want to add a Librarian Note (not a comment) to Neil Gaiman's combine page to note that the graphic novel editions of Stardust and Coraline shouldn't be combined with their novel counterparts (they get recombined fairly often). As far as I can tell this isn't possible, since we aren't able to edit GR author's profiles at all, and that is where the possibility to add notes is found. Is there another way to add them for GR authors/has anyone found a workaround/am I missing something obvious? :)

On a side note, just wanted to make sure it's still the policy to keep graphic novel versions of books separate. Thanks!

This Is Not The Michael You're Looking For | 949 comments Add the note to the book rather than the author, in particular, I'd add it to the graphic novel saying something along the lines of "Please do not combine this graphic novelization with the original novel."

Thanks Michael...I've already done that for Coraline, but it doesn't show up on the combine page, which won't do much to keep others from combining it since they likely won't see it. If it's the only thing to do though, that's what I'll do :) Thanks!

JG (Introverted Reader) | 487 comments Why don't you pose this question in the Feedback group? Otis is more likely to see it there and maybe he'll give us a workaround. I've seen your comment on Coraline, but it really would be better as a Librarian Note.

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Ashley, are you adding the book note at the top where it says "add a librarian note" or at the bottom where it says "add a librarian comment"? If you're adding it at the top, it should be showing on the combine page.

I agree that it would be nice to be able to put librarian notes on author profiles for Goodreads authors, though.

JG (Introverted Reader) | 487 comments We can just add a librarian note to the book itself, can't we? Duh! Why didn't I think of that? That's our workaround! Can I claim lack of sleep?

Ashley (ashleym) | 145 comments Oy! Don't I feel unobservant! Thanks Cait, my eyes went right over that on the book edit page...took me a few seconds to find even after you told me it was there!

I haven't been able to be around much the last couple of months, so I'm still getting caught up with some of the new(er) features. Thanks!

Now rereading your comment Michael, I can see you told me this from the beginning! Sorry I misunderstood it, I thought you could only add comments to the book page since I'd completely missed the note link on it!

This Is Not The Michael You're Looking For | 949 comments It's a fairly new feature, but we (the librarians) pushed for it for circumstances exactly like these. It's easy to miss the link if you don't know to look for it. GR did a great job of implementing it.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments GR has done a good job. We could also ask Neil Gaiman to put in a note; all authors here are also librarians.
