For me YA is about the ages where you're not a "kid" anymore but also not considered an adult yet. The way I see it, YA is all about the things you have to deal with on the way to adulthood. Saying that, I'd say I consider a book YA if the narrator is 13+, though it really depends. There are YA books that I think have a younger feel to them, although the narrator is 16. But there are also books where the narrator is 12 and pretty mature for his/her age and where I have a hard time deciding if it's middle grade or YA. So yeah, there's that.

Thanks for the recommendations! I never paid Savvy any attention, though I saw the German edition quite often in book stores for a while.

Here's my list! :) Will add the rest as I go. I'm not the type who specifies goals, so I won't be putting the to-read books here just the completed ones. Well that's it... till the next update. *flies away* fufufu~

Yay! I just finished with a month to spare :)

Yay! I am still sitting on P and K. I've swapped Prodigy some time ago, but I am not sure if the previous owner will manage to read and send it in time. K is difficult. Maybe I'll kill the letter by rereading Graceling and cover one spot in my rereading challenge with the same title. I planned to reread 15 books this year, but managed only 11 so far.

Try Kindred by Octavia E. Butler . It's unputdownable, page turning and unusual. It's time travel to antebellum slave holding Maryland... It's very good historical fiction and time travel.

That sounds like a good one. And it would fit into the Winter Quarterly Challenge as well. I think I'll keep it in mind for next year's A-Z :)

I'd totally switch out Graceling so you can do two personal challenges.

J was my last sticking point. I couldn't find any J titles that I really wanted to read. Glad I made myself read Just One Day though. It was good and I liked it well enough that I can read Just One Year next year :)

Thank you for the recommendation, Julie. That's very kind. I will keep the book in mind, but it is not YA and I try to do the challenge without spending extra money. I own Kane Richards Must Die, but I am not really in the mood for it. I guess, I'll reread Graceling.

Kindred isn't YA, the main character is an adult, but many high school English/ social studies/ histories teach it as a "slavery" book, just sayin'.

Also, you'll find it on some older banned/ challenged books lists.

Graceling is one of my favorite books. I definitely need to reread it soon! :)
