Recently discovered bookbub.com. They send out one email everyday with a number of special offers for Kindle books in the genres that your interested in. No spam, no rubbish just genuine offers.

Is this a UK thing? All the testimonials seem to be in the US.

Yeah, looks like an American thing.

It is American but nearly all the deals are relevant and active in the UK. The deals are very often from the big publishing houses and last only one or two days. The books that are offered free usually hit number one free in the US charts.

Did a Bookbub promo today. Top 10 in three categories. Up to 300ish rank overall in the US store. Sold almost 600 copies so far across all platforms. Still have another day to go.

I have got some cracking books through bookbub emails. yes, the links are US but easily switched to .co.uk and all the deals I have found advertised so far have also been valid in UK...

I agree with Kath, all you need to do is select a book from the list given, get to the amazon.com site, go to the address window at the top of your browser and change .com to .co.uk, enter and you're there.

I would be very interested in authors' experiences of paid promotions on Bookbub.

I've run three promos

2 mystery thrillers and 1 young adult. All were discounted deals to 99 cents

The first mystery thriller cost 370 dollars and resulted in 2800 sales in 2 days - rose to 32 overall in the rankings

The second cost 460 dollars but only sold 1500 over 2 days.

The Young adult cost a lot less and I think sold around 700 over the 2 days.

All covered the cost of the promo and resulted in an improvement in rankings for a couple of weeks. I would definitely recommend it.

Can I ask if you'd had much previous experience with free promotions on those titles?
I'm just wondering if the downloads from my free days will inhibit the success of a 99c promo.

Also, none of my primary genres (humorous fiction / children's fiction / anthologies) are listed.

Pompomberry House is a mystery, but it's much more of a comedy and I fear it would be wasted in the mysteries and thrillers category.

I'm afraid I've not done any free days, so not sure on the impact although I believe mystery thriller frees can get up to 20,000 downloads and ussually end up in the top 5 free ranking.

Wow. That is very promising about mystery thrillers. However, mine is a spoof mystery thriller, with the comedy element being its leading suit. People after your typical mystery thriller would probably find it improbable and silly.

I've paid Bookbub to promote one historical fiction title 'Song at Dawn'on free kindle promo; had 26,000 DLs (I know, crazy!)They turned down another title though, a romance, so you can't guarantee being accepted and they don't cover all genres. They only 'hit' amazon.com; no impact on amazon.uk so combine Bookbub with other middlemen sites ideally. Well worth the money for an author and good to subscribe to from a reader's viewpoint (free)

With BookBub, I've just started (yesterday) a 5-day giveaway of the amazon.com Kindle version of my novel, "One Last Great Wickedness" (set in World War Two Eastbourne), and have already had over 31,000 downloads so far, and they're still coming in at the rate of about 250 an hour. Amazing! A friend in Eastbourne, Mike Olley (very good writer, see his "Better" collection of short stories) has kindly put my giveaway on amazon.co.uk also.

I forgot to say that my book was #1 on Kindle's free book (literary fiction) list yesterday, although it slipped to #2 and then to #5 today.

I signed up for BookBub as a reader roughly six months ago. I'm in the UK but have bought various things from the US site over the years and it seems to recognise my UK account, charge me and deliver titles to my Kindle without any problems. I'm loving the chance to try new authors I might never have come across without it. It's fascinating to hear from authors who have paid BB to promote their books. It's like peeking behind the curtain at the theatre.

eBookSoda and The Fussy Librarian are well presented sites and well run too and they cover the UK. eReaderNewsToday also seems good.

Indie Book Bargains, a UK site, comes with added extras like funny drabbles.
