I think my new favorite person for the time being is Juan love that guys character lol.
And Justina and ROdney I didnt see that coming, but Bones did say that all Justina needed was a good "shaggin" and I suppose Rodney was up for knocking off the cobwebs lol.
And a famous vampire graced the pages I enjoyed his time with Cat he's a deep persona, but well all know that already.
EDIT: Just finished the book, I'm a bit let down with the ending I expected a HUGE showdown but meh I guess you can only hope for so much body shredding and decapitation, but I was Happy to see Mencheres cut loose a little bit.

The cobwebs were definitely cleaned out and amazingly her attitude improved. Who knew all it took was a ghoul shaggin her. LOL
I loved Vlad! He is one of my favorite characters. You got to love Juan. Making him a vampire just gave him more ammunition.

Without spoiling anything, I enjoyed the action and Cat's spunk, although there is one scene in particular that I don't even think Cat is capable of, but she does it anyway (not in a good way, I mean). However, I did give the book 4 stars :D

no space between < and spoiler in the first where the ... is just type whatever you want to say. and no space between < & /spoiler

Yea she even dressed better and combed her hair I guess a good dusting brings out the sexy in ya huh? When she showed up at Cat's place I was like damn Rodney is putting it down lol
I think they should have given Rodney a medal :D
Yay for Vlad! I was wondering when he was going to show up. Now I need to see some of the action that made him warrant his own series! I'm jealous I haven't finished yet. Read to chapter 22 so I'm not far behind. I'm surprised Bones didn't kill Tate after the limo scene.
Has anyone seen Clare?????

Tate can be a complete jerk but he is loyal and good in a fight. In a war you need people like that.

We plan on reading the ones Sheri listed with maybe a break inbetween for a BOM. I haven't heard from Lys.
She's been around.
The books above are actually part of the same series...The first one is about Cat's best friend Denise. It's kind of a spin off series but with the same characters. Here is the complete list of the order they were written in - and are supposed to be read in:

I was going to read them all even if you guys just wanted to read the regular Night Huntress books together. It's up to you guys.
Destined for an Early Grave would be next (Night Huntress #4) and then First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World #1)
All of the series are connected somehow.

Me too! I keep hoping we'll get an Ian book someday.
Oh my God...the second World book is about Mencheres! That should be interesting. She's gotta write one about Ian!

That's a dangerous philosophy.
And yeah, I'm around. I just lost track of where we all are and I wanted to talk the endings.
Where are we?

1)All the spells nonsense got a bit much for me. I don't mind spells, by the way, it just seemed like there was a need to amp up the scary on the villain, and some of it seemed really poorly executed with flimsy FLIMSY reasoning. Motivations were pretty shallow, and historical context was lacking. Sorry, but if you want to bring in an Egyptian "goddess" then you should probably establish that a bit more.
2) Randy's death. So stupid and pointless and bullshit. And very clearly setup for a later Denise romance. I hate it when authors use their characters as plot movers rather than move the plot around the characters. There was no reason for what happened, and it was pointless drama. The people who died outside: yes, makes sense. Randy's death was clearly about looking ahead to later books.
This isn't articulated very well. But, what are the other thoughts? This was my least favorite so far. I really hope the next one improves.
Also: the pacing felt way off. And the constant need to make the situation *more* terrifying, *more* sickening, *more* violent ... I don't know.
I actually liked the magic, though I wish it would have been better explained - maybe some background info on why Patra and Mencheres know it and just an overall better explanation for it.
I agree with you on the lacking historical content. When I first read that Patra was Cleopatra's daughter I thought there would be something to that story and was looking forward to it. It was a bit dissapointing just having it thrown out there and then forgotten - kind of like a name drop.
I didn't think much of Randy's death one way or another, but you did make a good point. If she was going to kill him off she should have at least made it mean something, rather than just having him there one second and gone the next. He could have gone down in a blaze of glory or saving Denice's life or something heroic to make him look good at the very least.

Randy's death didn't matter to me. I did think it was aburpt but I was more upset about Bones' death.

Here it is. (view spoiler)
I think because she has been drinking a lot of Bones's blood it made her able to endure more torture than normal. She is also half vampire.
