Well I'm liking the story so far. The last chapter was really intense (I didn't know what was going to happen to his daughter).
Who do you think the "Agent" is? I have a crazy thought that it might be Tom. No idea why that came to mind, but I just have this weird feeling... LOL! :)

I have no clue who the "Agent" is. It would be so awful if it was Tom! Samantha would be so upset! I hope it's not him!
I seriously cried when Andrew was shot! He was such a great guy! I loved his last words-especially how he made sure to tell Conner not to be mad at God!
I can't believe Jenna is stupid enough to have a "relationship" with a guy online even though she knows about the person kidnapping and killing young girls!

Yeah, I really don't think it is Tom, it's just this weird feeling I have. LOL! :)
I cried too! I feel really bad for his wife and all she is going through. I loved his last words, too, and how Samantha said to Conner it was better Andrew then him because Andrew was a believer.
I totally agree. I can't believe how stupid Jenna is. You'd think she'd know better... I have a bad feeling she is going to meet that guy and be the next one kidnapped. On the other hand, I think Conner should be more specific about telling her what to watch out for.
I so wish Conner would have just checked that tree house! The guy was so close and could have been captured!
I love how Samantha's sister is doing better now. Do you think the man that hurt her is the same guy that is kidnapping these girls?

I know! I wanted to scream! As soon as he turned away because he saw the boy I knew that the guy was there and sent the kid to throw them off.
Yeah it's so cool! I don't think it's the same guy since Jaime is the main character of the next book and that's the plot of it-finding the guy who attacked her.
The arrow was a rather interesting way to send the back off message. I totally did not guess that was what it was when it first happened. I was proud of Samantha for moving back in when she could-I think I would have been too scared!
Ohhh. I didn't read book two's description yet, I think you're right and the cases aren't related.
Yeah, that was an interesting way to send the note. I didn't know what it was at first either (thought it might have been a gunshot or bomb). I don't think I could have moved back in so soon either (especially alone)!
I'm wondering what the reason is for the girls having babies. Maybe Conner's right and it has to do with the black market. Really weird angle to the story!

I think that is the reason-I think I remember the Agent thinking something along those lines!
I find Samantha's interrogation techniques to be pretty amusing and it's funny how they actually get results!
No problem. :)
Yeah, I remember the Agent thinking something like that, too.
Same here! It is amusing and I like how she is really blunt. :)
It's kind of surprising how Samantha and Conner's late wife look alike.

I think I'd go crazy on that case-so many victims and so few clues!
Definitely! Those are the worst cases - when you have so few clues and it takes so long to get the culprit.
Well I can't think of anything else to discuss about this section... what about you?

Yep! Looking forward to seeing if the Agent is someone we were introduced to already...
Same here. I have to finish up Secretly Smitten, then read a little bit of another book. I should be able to finish it by Monday or Tuesday, though. :)

Finally finished. Wow! What a creepy epilogue! Now I HAVE to find a way to read book two... maybe my library will have it. ;)
Shocked I was right about the Agent being Tom. I guess that weird feeling I had early on wasn't so weird. LOL! Didn't it seem, though, like the reveal was a little prolonged? I mean at one point it was pretty obvious who the Agent was, but it was still a long time before it was said. And when it was revealed it seemed like it was supposed to be a surprise. Don't know why that bugged me, but it did. Still loved the book, though. :)

I could not believe it was actually him! I actually didn't have a problem with the reveal. I felt that even though it kept getting a little more likely that it was Tom there was still that chance that it wasn't. He was really way to good at keeping everything secret. I was also kinda surprised by the fact that the Boss was the wife of that lawyer.
I was glad that they didn't have Jenna meet the guy then get kidnapped, which was what I thought was gonna happen from the very start, but switched it up and did it the less obvious way. I wanted to scream when they suggested having Tom pick her up! Since by then it was pretty easy to guess that it was him.
I was really impressed by how brave Jenna was and how creative she was with her ideas to get them out of there!
Lucky! :)
He was really good at keeping it a secret. I was surprised about all of the disguises he used. Would you believe I actually guessed about the lawyer's wife involvement too? After it was said that the Boss was a woman, I thought of her. Before that, I had no idea. LOL! :)
Me too! I really thought she was going to meet him - so glad she didn't. I did scream. LOL! I was like "Noooooo! Not him!" :/
I was impressed too. I loved how she thought to hide her phone and have Bradley call her dad if he couldn't reach her. Plus the things she did when she was locked in that room - very clever. :)
Jenna's friend annoyed me when she met that guy behind Jenna's back, but I liked how she texted Jenna to let her know and then for help.
Wow. I loved the scene in Andrew's car. So touching what Andrew had written.
That scene with the bomb in Sam's car - that was really scary. It also made me second guess about Tom's guilt. I mean, he was there and could have died. But then when Calvin asked about what tipped them off that it was there, I wondered again about him. LOL!
I felt so bad when Calvin and his son died. I got misty-eyed - it was so sad. :(

Haha-I'm sure I would have too but my sis who I room with was sleeping so I had to make sure I was quiet.
Yeah hiding the phone was genius as well as having Bradley call!
That annoyed me too. But I was glad she was smart enough to text!
I loved that scene! As well as the scene when Angie comes to give him the key. I really liked how Conner's emotions were shown rather than just having him be the tough cop!
I totally did not see that one coming! And it was scary I don't think I would have been so calm! It made me second guess Tom too but I didn't really think anything about Calvin asking.
That was horrible! Though I was glad that it wasn't his whole family!
I was really impressed that Veronica had the guts to send the text using the nurse's phone!
I couldn't believe that Tom shot Jenna's "shadow" Rick but I was glad when we found out he'd live!
I loved how they set Tom up! Though I'm a little surprised that he fell for it so easily!
LOL! Luckily I was reading during the day, so I could scream as loud as I wanted. ;)
That key scene was also a great one. I, too, liked how Conner's emotions were shown. Made his character more real. I loved when his daughter heard the conversation - the way she was surprised by the extent of his grief.
Yeah, that did take a lot of guts and it was smart of her to text her mom instead of calling the cops.
I can't believe that either! When they found him I thought for sure he was dead - SO glad he survived.
I love the hint of romance between Dakota and Jamie. Can hardly wait to read the next book to see where that goes. :)

Oh, and I too loved how they set Tom up. It is surprising he fell for it so easily, but I think the reason for that is he was so desperate. I was surprised that he killed himself. I've read a few books where that happened in the end, but I wasn't expecting it with this one.

Tom killing himself surprised me too! Though I think it makes it much easier for the families he hurt to get closure much quicker instead of waiting through the trial!
Well I can't think of anything else-you?
Nope. Had a lot of fun reading/discussing this one with you! Which Julie Klassen one do you want to read next? Just let me know when you want to start it and I'll start it then too. :)

It doesn't matter to me which we read next but I probably won't get a chance to start until the middle of next week. I have a bunch of review books I need to finish up first.
No rush. I'm fine with waiting a few weeks to start (I have review books to read, too). How about The Apothecary's Daughter first?
