The Eyes of the Amaryllis
A Painted House
Still Life with Chickens
I forgot I'd read The Graveyard Book at the first of the year. It was wonderful, of course, and I was pleased to learn it earned the Newbery Medal.
I'm reading The Known World by Edward P. Jones
11 down, so far, going on 12. A bit behind, but catching up.

Fascinating book. I'd like to read more about this topic of free Black slave owners pre-Civil War era.

I didn't fit so well into a type at first, but felt better by the end. A little.

A sequel to Chocolat, an old favorite, and I found this book to be different from the first, more complex and longer, and very good.
#14 - better get a move on!

Re-read Coraline--it's been seven years. I think it's more imaginative than The Graveyard Book but I like that one a lot, too. It was fun to re-read this after seeing the movie.

#16

Bought this on sale at Starbucks in Atlanta -- that should've tipped me off. Very meh.
Getting Stoned with Savages A Trip Through the Islands of Fiji and Vanuatu
Very funny in places, kinda boring in others. Not so hot on the title -- "savages"? Really?
#17 and #18

Really good--right on the mark.
One Hundred Years of Solitude
I adore this book. Just beautiful.
The Alchemist
Gave this one another try; finished it and liked it this time.
Eleven Minutes A Novel
Really enjoyed this little novel.

The Wordy Shipmates
I adore Sarah Vowell and this was a really good history lesson about the Puritans. Really enjoyable.
The Tipping Point
Malcolm Gladwell's hypothesis of how epidemics start, and not only disease epidemics, but social epidemics, as well. I really liked it.
