Ha! No need to buy the last Sookie book, my library has it on audiobook...I just need to get in line.

Me too. It is one of the best in the whole series. It was classic Spider stuff, very little love and Bria (Bria annoys me a little bit)

My library had the hardcover and audio on release day as well. I feel stupid for preordering it 2 months ago when I could have read it for free. It wasn't worth my audible credit :(
But I am glad it's over...although I know it's not really over, Charlaine Harris won't end this series like this.

message 556: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Figured I'd stick with the Zeds, so I've started Plague Town by Dana Fredsti .

I've moved Darkhouse (Experiment in Terror, #1) by Karina Halle up on my TBR list and made sure it's on my Kindle. Grabbed the freebie last year, but haven't read it. I definitely will soon though.

Sandra | 25908 comments I'm about to start Alien in the House (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #7) by Gini Koch Yay!!! But it's over 500 pages, which is both good and bad. LOL.

Just finished and I can't believe the series is done... I don't want to spoil it for anyone that's anxiously waiting to read it, but I will stay tuned to see the comments.

message 559: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Lis, I did hear somewhere that there might be something more to come. Don't quote me and I can't remember where I saw it.

message 560: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Ack?! Really??

Lis did you like it?

message 561: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments I had hoped for a little more but maybe my expectations were set a little too high. I still had to start reading as soon as it was released and will probably continue if she adds a few more to the series.

message 562: by Nichole (new)

Nichole | 1199 comments I just finished A Perfect Blood (The Hollows, #10) by Kim Harrison and City of Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #3) by Stacia Kane and loved both of them, 5 stars. I have only had four 5 star reads this year...

I'm almost finished with Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer and I've started Storm Front (The Dresden Files, #1) by Jim Butcher .

message 563: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Maybe I will like Dead After Ever because I have no expectations! LOL. City of Ghosts is a great book. Nichole, the Dresden Files is a great series -- just be ware that the first two in the series are slow and not as good, but it is an amazing series. I love it, so it is worth sticking through!

I just finished Red Fox (Experiment in Terror, #2) by Karina Halle The Benson (Experiment in Terror, #2.5) by Karina Halle I absolutely loved them but I forcing myself to take a break. I don't want to run out of these books! So I am going to read Another Little Piece by Kate Karyus Quinn

message 564: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Finished Iron Kissed (Mercy Thompson, #3) by Patricia Briggs - it was a bit on the traumatic side.

Now listening to Magic Slays (Kate Daniels, #5) by Ilona Andrews and reading The Greyfriar (Vampire Empire, #1) by Clay Griffith

message 565: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Iron Kissed definitely is traumatic. The next one is really good.

Charlotte (Buried in Books) | 557 comments There is another book after Dead Ever After. After Dead is due out in October. Harris goes through each character and tells us what happens to them in the future. You can already pre-order on Amazon.

message 567: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Read Wolf with Benefits (Pride, #8) by Shelly Laurenston and now listening to Undead (Undead, #1) by Kirsty McKay

Lis | 4037 comments Nichole wrote: "I just finished A Perfect Blood (The Hollows, #10) by Kim Harrison ..."

Glad you liked it Nicole, this is one of those series that keeps getting better. I've recommended it several times but its a tough one to get started with. Once you get past the first couple with all the world building dump, it's funny, clever, heart breaking and lots of twists. I love Jenks, too.

message 569: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I've started Definitely Dead (Sookie Stackhouse, #6) by Charlaine Harris cause I got the next one from the library.

message 570: by Barbara ★ (new)

Smith Forever (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #3) by Maggie Stiefvater Defending Jacob by William Landay

Currently reading The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1) by Patrick Rothfuss The Innocent (Will Robie, #1) by David Baldacci Florence of Arabia by Christopher Buckley

message 571: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Read Plague Town by Dana Fredsti and Plague Nation by Dana Fredsti ; both decent zombie-world reads. I might'a liked the 2nd better if I'd waited a bit between books. The snark was less funny and more annoying to me in the 2nd one. I did love all the movie references though.

I'm not sure what to read next. I find myself blankly staring at my TBR list ... nothing is jumping out at me. :/

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Read Highland Stone by Sloan McBride which was nice and Refugee (The Captive, #3) by Erica Stevens which I loved the little beauty and the beast type.

On to A Wolf's Song by Shannon Phoenix , so far it's fun.

message 573: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Oooh Val, The Captive series seems interesting! Just downloaded the first one on my kindle ;)

message 574: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ Finished The Folly of the World by Jesse Bullington The Mummy Case (Amelia Peabody, #3) by Elizabeth Peters The Mysterious Benedict Society (The Mysterious Benedict Society, #1) by Trenton Lee Stewart

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Josie wrote: "Oooh Val, The Captive series seems interesting! Just downloaded the first one on my kindle ;)"

Yeah, it's a quick read but really worth your time. I've started another freebie (smashwords, allromance) and I like it so far.

Seer's Hope by Maree Anderson

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Hiya, Inga! :D

That was one of my favorites because I was so looking forward to Qhuinn and Blay finally getting together. ;) But, their story only; the rest was okay, but nothing overly special for me.

What's new on the market? How long do ya have? LOL! Tons of goodies out. I'm sure scrolling through this thread will provide some good suggestions for ya.

I don't read as fast as you do...the ending of the third book is a bit of a cliffhanger but I think the fourth is due around June.
As for Seer's Hope, I like that Hope is blind, it adds to the storytelling.

message 580: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Val! You read much faster than I do! So far this year you've read 123 whilst I'm on 94!

Oh at least it's not too far away. Plus, I think the fourth one is the last?

You know, I'm not sure I've ever read a book with a blind main character (first person), I'd be very interested to read it :)

message 581: by Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ (last edited May 16, 2013 01:53PM) (new)

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments I'm only like 20% into the book but I love it. The only problem I have is that like in the twilight series...the author tells you that they are doing the horizontal tango but you don't get to actually read it. :(

On another note I have quite a few shorts in there because I want to dwindle my pile of kindle freebies. The book count should be closer to 93....so you're ahead.

message 582: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments What Seer's Hope? See that sex scene probably had good potential, seeing as she couldn't see and had to rely on other senses.

Nuh uh. I too have shorts! I am going to confess that when I read The Bridgertons Happily Ever After by Julia Quinn which is a compilation of the previously released 8 short epilogues, I also put each of the individual shorts on my read shelf as well, e.g. Viscount Who Loved Me The Epilogue II by Julia Quinn When He Was Wicked The Epilogue II (Bridgertons, #6.5) by Julia Quinn etc. If that makes sense. Basically I cheated ;)

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments I cheat too! If I read enough shorts in a month to add to 200 pages, I count them as 1 book.

Seer's Hope is another freebie I picked up. YA, a girl is lifted from her life in Seeview and dumped in another primitive world/reality. She manifests prophetic powers and must be tutored. It's still free on Amazon I think but also on Smashwords: http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/...

message 584: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I've started A Sliver of Shadow (Abby Sinclair, #2) by Allison Pang . Not very far in yet, so still trying to remember where the last one left off. Already gigglin' over little Phineas, the horny unicorn.

message 585: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Yeah, I grabbed Seer's Hope on Smashwords ;)

Steph, I'm the same as you. That's the one I'm up to but its been so long since I read #1 :(

message 586: by Lis (last edited May 16, 2013 07:24PM) (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Read Lone Wolf (Shifters Unbound #4.6) by Jennifer Ashley and The Heart of a Hero (Spellbound Falls, #4) by Janet Chapman JC's books always leave you all warm and fuzzy...

Also read freebies Highland Stone by Sloan McBride and Twelfth Moon (Legend of the Pantera, #1) by Lori Villarreal

Not sure what's up next...

message 587: by Nichole (new)

Nichole | 1199 comments How did you like Twelfth Moon (Legend of the Pantera, #1) by Lori Villarreal ? I have that marked for a challenge.

message 588: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Nichole wrote: "How did you like Twelfth Moon (Legend of the Pantera, #1) by Lori Villarreal? I have that marked for a challenge."

It wasn't bad. It has a creative spin on the were panther origin with an old west setting. For me, some of the story just fell in place a little too easily but it was entertaining.

If I read one with 10 pages, I count it as a book! :P

Has anyone read some Maya Banks books, specifically the McCabe Trilogy, In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #1) by Maya Banks Seduction of a Highland Lass (McCabe Trilogy, #2) by Maya Banks Never Love a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #3) by Maya Banks ? I'm an MB virgin, would anyone recommend?

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Josie, the McCabe trilogy is the only books I've read from Maya Banks but I really liked them...also the fact that I rarely read historical novel either. I can't compare them with other historical novel as for quality but the McCabe brothers touched my heart.

She's done a good job of filtering in things that happened in the first book, so I now remember. 1/2 through and it's just so-so for me. I'm finding I have to make myself read it. But, it is a quick read, so I guess that's a plus.

I haven't been able to find anything this month that's really grabbed me. Hate when that happens.

YES! I listened to In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #1) by Maya Banks book 1 last week and bought book 2 on audible a few days ago. It was really good. I am talking Lisa Kleypas HR good. I recommend it...highly recommended it.
Maya Banks HR is up there with Julie Garwood and Lisa Kleypas for me.

her other series is also excellent: Montgomerys & Armstrongs. i have read both of those as well. You can't go wrong with either.
Never Seduce a Scot (The Montgomerys and Armstrongs, #1) by Maya Banks Highlander Most Wanted (The Montgomerys and Armstrongs, #2) by Maya Banks

Josie | 1967 comments I can't not get them now, can I lol? I'm going to splash out and buy the trilogy bundle on Amazon :P
I love Lisa Kleypas and Julie Garwood too! I feel like I can be open about my love for LK but JG, with her ultra cheesy historicals, I feel like is my secret (well not anymore!) guilty pleasure ;)
