Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Glad you're enjoying Sookie :)

Had such fun reading 5th Wave. Jumped into Darkhouse (Experiment in Terror, #1) by Karina Halle this morning and enjoying its spookiness so far. Hubby gifted me the audio version of The Hunt (The Hunt, #1) by Andrew Fukuda and I hope to have some time to listen to it soon.

Anyone read it?

message 602: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments Steph, I hope you love Darkhouse as much as I did. I just devoured the entire series and can't wait for the next one to come out.

I just finished reading Feral Sins (The Phoenix Pack, #1) by Suzanne Wright which was a lot of fun, and I'm currently on The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and Fantastical (Fantasyland, #3) by Kristen Ashley .

You'll want to read all her books once you finish Darkhouse.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I figured, so I've just warned DH to expect a series purchase soon. LOL!

message 606: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments I agree, it's a very addictive series.

AH, have you read any of the authors other books? I'm interested in trying Sins & Needles.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I've thought about buying that one too, Kerstin.

I have it on my summer reading list. I love her writing style so I can't wait.

message 610: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Finished One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, #2) by Jeaniene Frost - was expecting more from Cat and Bones's reunion.

Mow listening to Grave Peril (The Dresden Files, #3) by Jim Butcher

message 611: by Lis (last edited May 22, 2013 04:09PM) (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Someone mentioned Julie Garwood in the comments, so I downloaded and read The Secret (Highlands' Lairds #1) by Julie Garwood and Ransom (Highlands' Lairds, #2) by Julie Garwood for a little highlander lovin'

So I also did a revisit and a re-listen of The Dark Highlander (Highlander, #5) by Karen Marie Moning The Immortal Highlander (Highlander, #6) by Karen Marie Moning and working on Spell of the Highlander (Highlander, #7) by Karen Marie Moning . I read these way before the Fever series and forgot all the connections other than the McKelter's...

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments After putting it down and up again I finished King of Thorns (The Broken Empire, #2) by Mark Lawrence . Good book if a bit gory. Enjoying The Daylight War (Demon Cycle, #3) by Peter V. Brett very much.

message 613: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Reading Blood Challenge (World of the Lupi, #7) by Eileen Wilks and the only reason I'm stopping is its 3.26 am.

Sandra | 25908 comments OK. Finished Blood Challenge (World of the Lupi, #7) by Eileen Wilks and it's a 5+ stars from me! If you haven't tried this series, why not?

message 620: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments Just finished Nightwalker (Dark Days, #1) by Jocelynn Drake and really enjoyed it.

message 621: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments *feels scolded* ;)

Glad you enjoyed it, Kerstin. I really enjoyed that series, but the sexual tension between Mira and Danaus drove me crazy.

I finished Red Fox (Experiment in Terror, #2) by Karina Halle and have moved right on to Dead Sky Morning (Experiment in Terror, #3) by Karina Halle . I wanna know more about Perry and Dex' history and she keeps giving just a tad bit more ... enough to entice me into reading the next one. I'm not sure if the reason is the same for those of you reading (or have read) the series, but it's definitely addicting. Although, each of the books so far could'a benefited from some editing or better editing, whichever.

message 622: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments I'm curious to start the next one, Steph. I really want to find out more about who Danaus really is.

See, it is a really addictive series! Wanting to find out more about Dex and Perry's past was a big reason, and I also loved the characters themselves. They are so flawed and real.
I know what you mean about the editing, but it didn't bother me all that much. The story kept me too enthralled to care :)

message 623: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (lindz2012) | 5 comments I have read about 15 or 16 books, if they are series I am not sure completely but probably.

message 624: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Hope you enjoy the series, Kerstin. #4, Pray for Dawn, is told in his POV. :D

I completely agree. I've finished Dead Sky Morning (favorite so far) and will backtrack to the 2.5 short The Benson today. I forgot about that one earlier. I really don't like Dex calling her "kiddo" all the time, bugs me. Makes him sound 3x her age instead of 9 yrs older. Otherwise ... I'm hooked too. LOL!

message 625: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Reading The Darkest Kiss (Riley Jenson Guardian, #6) by Keri Arthur ;)

message 626: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Oh Sandra! A while ago we were roughly at the same point with Riley Jenson but I've fallen behind now :P
How are you liking the series?

message 627: by chucklesthescot (new)

chucklesthescot At the moment I'm reading: Hard Day's Knight (Black Knight Chronicles, #1) by John G Hartness , The Lady of the Rivers (The Cousins' War, #3) by Philippa Gregory

Josie, I'm really enjoying them. I like the fact that she uses Melbourne places, even though I don't live there, I have visited plus you hear them on the news etc, so it feels really Aussie to me :DDDD

I'm reading one a month, I've got the whole series plus a few others listed in a couple of challenges - SOS I've Started So I'll Finish - 2013 - The Sequel; RRRC 2013 Stacking the Series Challenge; Shifter Love - Over the Rainbow Challenge; so that makes it easier to keep track.

message 629: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I miss that series! Glad you're enjoying it. I need to get back to her spin-off, Dark Angels. I've only read the first, but have the next 3 on-hand TBR.

I'm flyin' through the EIT series, like many other SOSers. Damn these cliffhangers! LOL!

I've finished Dead Sky Morning (Experiment in Terror, #3) by Karina Halle The Benson (Experiment in Terror, #2.5) by Karina Halle Lying Season (Experiment in Terror, #4) by Karina Halle On Demon Wings (Experiment in Terror, #5) by Karina Halle . Now, I'm reading Old Blood (Experiment in Terror, #5.5) by Karina Halle before moving onto The Dex-Files (Experiment in Terror, #5.7) by Karina Halle , which I'm very excited about b/c it's in Dex's POV.

I expect I'll finish what's published just in time for book 7 to be come out, then I'll have BSB to take the edge off any withdrawal. LOL!

Yay Steph!! LOL did you even stop to breath. LMAO!! Now you understand the addiction. Are you going through withdrawal and shaking like I am ? :D

message 632: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I love the audio of those Dresden books. :) Enjoy. I am slowly doing a re-read of the series by audio.

And Lis -- I love to revisit Moning's highlanders!!

message 633: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michker) | 43 comments A Perfect Blood finished

message 634: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL Regina! No stoppin' me now. I've finished ... screw it, I don't know what's up with GR today, but nothing but a dummy page for Darkhouse is coming up. I finished OLD BLOOD and DEX FILES. Now, I'm onto INTO THE HOLLOW and then I'm sure I'll jump into AND WITH MADNESS COMES THE LIGHT. Then, I'll just have a day or two before LITTLE FIFTEEN and COME ALIVE are out.

Addiction? What a addiction? I'm not addicted! I can stop anytime. Anytime, I tell ya! LMAO!

message 635: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments LOL! I'm finally reading them now too :D

Though I am reading it in the middle of the night, in the dark, which probably isn't the best idea...

message 636: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Sounds way too spooky for me. ROFL

message 637: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Some are reeeeally spooky, esp when reading at night. Others are just a tad on the spooky side. Love the characters!

message 638: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Sandra they are so good!

Lmao Steph! I really enjoyed into the hallow.

message 642: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments Sandra wrote: "Sounds way too spooky for me. ROFL"

They are spooky, but so much fun to read out loud to someone. It's kind of like those black and white scary movies relying on the shadows more than the gore. Very addictive and I am a wimp when it comes to scary stuff.

message 643: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Those black & white movies are terrifying. LOL. I have nightmares if I think of The Fly before bed and it would be 40 yrs since I've seen it. ROFL.

Sandra | 25908 comments Currently reading Daryk Hunter (Daryk World, #1) by Denise A. Agnew

message 645: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments LOL! I slept fine!

Maybe if you read it in the day Sandra, it won't be scary. I haven't found it too bad so far and I never watch scary films or horrors!

message 646: by Josie (last edited May 29, 2013 02:15AM) (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Oh and I've also heard good things about the author's other series (I think it's a trilogy) - has anyone read that one yet?

ETA: It's a contemporary Sins & Needles (The Artists Trilogy, #1) by Karina Halle Shooting Scars (The Artists Trilogy, #2) by Karina Halle

message 647: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I plan to. It is .99 cents right now. Also The Devil's Metal (Devils, #1) by Karina Halle is published by a publishing house and amazon has a great deal if you purchase the kindle book the audio book from audible is really cheap.

message 648: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Sandra wrote: "Currently reading Daryk Hunter (Daryk World, #1) by Denise A. Agnew"

I grabbed that as a freebie last year, I think. How was it?

I agree. Daytime reading isn't as spooky. I'd like to give her other series a go. If all of her characters are this addicting, I'm in for sure.

message 649: by Literary Ames (new)

Jemisin Dead to You by Lisa McMann Quicksilver (Ultraviolet, #2) by R.J. I had wanted this one for some time (it disappeared for a while when the author pulled it).

I gave it 3 stars and was slightly disappointed. The premise is good but it was a little longwinded in the middle with the yes-no-yes-no virgin debate.

I still intend to read the rest of them eventually.
