Sandra | 25908 comments Reading Calculated in Death (In Death #36) by J.D. Robb and once again it is excellent!

message 702: by chucklesthescot (new)

chucklesthescot I just finished Eyes Like Blue Fire by Amanda M. Lyons which was sent to me by the author as a pdf. It wasn't my cup of tea but if you like the gothic historical vampire kind of book, you might want to take a look at it.

Really must finish this tonight Hard Day's Knight (Black Knight Chronicles, #1) by John G Hartness

I have Deeply Odd on audio as well and I need to finish. I love Odd! He is so...weird and humorous!

Tracy | 237 comments I just started listening to Plum Lovin' (Stephanie Plum, #12.5) by Janet Evanovich because I am really wanting something funny and almost finished reading Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward and it is fabulous!

message 706: by chucklesthescot (new)

chucklesthescot Moved on to Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between (Rhiannon's Law, #1) by J.A. Saare which is a decent read though it took a bit of time to get going.

Ninab (Honesty is the Best Policy) | 149 comments Finished Forged in Blood I (The Emperor's Edge, #6) by Lindsay Buroker - ★★★★★. I'm so happy there is one final book left that I can deal with the cliffhanger (apparently the author didn't intend to split the last book, but it all wouldn't fit in one installment) plus the final book will come out in August so not too long to wait. Really excellent series - the first book is free so I highly recommend you try out! Steampunk with a kickbutt heroine, a great ensemble cast, humor, action and a slowburn romance. Add in fantastic writing and I think it's a definite winner!

Josie | 1967 comments I've just finished reading Touched by A.J. Aalto and thoroughly enjoyed it. I guess it's an urban fantasy, but it feels like a while since I've read a good one like this that keeps you reading. I know quite a few managed to get this as a freebie and it's definitely worth the time!

message 709: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I saw someone else mention they really enjoyed that one - AH maybe? I've got it TBR and hope to get to it soon.

Read Tangled (Tangled, #1) by Emma Chase and really enjoyed it. Glad there's more to come.

Reading Outpost (Razorland, #2) by Ann Aguirre , which took me a bit of time to get back into, but I'm flyin' through it now. Stinks that #3 isn't due out until the fall.

Ellese (faithfulumbrella) | 60 comments Oooh good looking books in this feed ;) May check some of them out, but for now I am reading Friday Night Bites (Chicagoland Vampires, #2) by Chloe Neill and wondering why I didn't start it sooner...first book was really tough to get through but this one is funny, witty, and generally a bit better written, although I want to just punch some green-eyed vampire...

Also, about 75% finished with this little gem Howl's Moving Castle (Howl's Moving Castle, #1) by Diana Wynne Jones on my Kindle

message 733: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I loved the animation of Howl's Ellese, so well done.

Finished Wanderlust, and really enjoyed it but not much is resolved. It's gonna be one of those series that you immediately want to grab the next one to find out what happens next. Luckily they are all out now, just gotta find the time ;)

message 735: by Ellese (new)

Ellese (faithfulumbrella) | 60 comments Sandra, me too!!

Tracy, I agree with your comment thus far. I am still a little pissed with how things are playing out but I'm just the audience. I can't wait to try the next one but will keep your opinion in mind. I want to continue with the series and hopefully keep it on my TBR list.

Now, I just finished Friday Night Bites (Chicagoland Vampires, #2) by Chloe Neill and really enjoyed it.

Am on to Warm Bodies (Warm Bodies #1) by Isaac Marion since I watched the movie and said, to hell with it, I want to read the book. After that will be Twice Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #3) by Chloe Neill when it arrives :D

Josie | 1967 comments Aw Sandra! I'm almost jealous that you get to read it for the first time :P

I've been very restless with my reading so I keep flitting from one book to another - according to GR, I'm currently reading 10 books (I'm not, only 4).

message 748: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments GoodReads is telling me 17. So I should probably finish some of them. LOL.

message 749: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL Josie!

Enjoy, HoO, Sandra! I know you will!

I'm reading The Silver Chain (The Unbreakable Trilogy, #1) by Primula Bond . I rec'd an invite from NetGalley and b/c it was the first one I've rec'd, I thought I'd take them up on it. Figured it might help me get more publisher invites. But, damn, this book is ... I can't think of a word to accurately describe it b/c 'bad' doesn't do its horribleness (is that a word?) justice.

So, I need your help. Should I stop at 25% in or force the rest down? Normally, I'd just toss it and move on, but it's a free for review book. How do I politely say, "It stunk so bad I had to stop wasting time on it" ? LOL! >.<

Ever read a book that was one metaphor after another? As if something just wasn't good enough to just be? Well, this lady has done that in spades! Every word has an adjective attached because it'd be lonely and nondescript without it, yes? And, the run-on sentences go on and on and on and on.
But to my disappointment he removes it, puts his hands thoughtfully into his pockets, and instead of walking up the hill, as he started to do just now, he leads me away from the dark square, towards the bright lights of what must be Piccadilly where red buses and black taxis and normal people are going about their business.
*sigh* Help.

message 750: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments Steph, I got it too. I haven't started it. I think it's ok if you put a review in NG and state that the book was not your cup of tea.
