Ellene, I agree with Jean you have to read Drink Deep. It will ease your anger.

message 802: by chucklesthescot (new)

chucklesthescot Genesis (XII Saga, #1) by Jason Rowe was a really good read and if you like dystopian paranormal then give this a try. The characters are really great.

message 803: by Ellese (new)

Ellese (faithfulumbrella) | 60 comments I shall read it next! In fact, I think I am going into work early to read before my shift...I can't stand the suspense, and I heard that people had read spoilers so I know something must happen but it still remains to be seen what...Have you guys read Black Dawn (The Morganville Vampires, #12) by Rachel Caine where Shane lives out a whole life? I feel kinda like I did with that book lol

So my next read is Drink Deep (Chicagoland Vampires, #5) by Chloe Neill and possibly a couple others...too many to pick from.

message 804: by Lisa (new)

message 806: by Ellese (new)

Ellese (faithfulumbrella) | 60 comments So I am over 100 pages into Drink Deep (Chicagoland Vampires, #5) by Chloe Neill and not satisfied...however I will press on. Also reading Last Kiss Goodbye by Rita Herron and wish I could have started it around Halloween, it is a very spooky type of read!

Also, what is this Charley Davidson series? Is it light and funny yet still kinda rawr? I have a friend that reads the same stuff we do and he gave it 5 stars :)

Jean ~ Kindle Queen (jkat9) | 370 comments Oh! I love Charley Davidson! That series is definitely a love-it or hate-it one. I think some people are put off by the humor (maybe too much of it), but I love it. I'd suggest reading a sample first to see if it's your kind of book. Each book usually has a mystery (she's a P.I.) or two, a ghost element (she's also a grim reaper), and there's a steamy romance as well.

Sorry you aren't feeling Drink Deep Ellene. This book redeemed the series for me.

Sandra | 25908 comments LOL

message 812: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Jean, I've noticed the same - either love/hate. I love her sense of humor.

I'm so jealous, Sandra! Enjoy!

LOL Josie!

Read On Her Master's Secret Service (Masters and Mercenaries, #4) by Lexi Blake and Sanctum (Masters and Mercenaries, #4.5) by Lexi Blake (non-pn; erotic bdsm suspense). I have to say, the characters are really growing on me and I'm getting used to her writing. Sometimes I think she could have trimmed the book(s) down a bit, others I can't get enough.

I also finished Sookie: Dead Ever After (Sookie Stackhouse, #13) by Charlaine Harris . It was a non-eventful ending for me, which was sad. After so many yrs I'd hoped for a bit more. The ending wasn't a huge surprise based on Sookie's comments/actions in the past, but not what I'd hoped for (even though I knew it was a long shot). Oh well. Moving on.

Now, to pick my alien bingo book. :)

Sandra | 25908 comments Just finished Doubleblind (Sirantha Jax, #3) by Ann Aguirre and I got Dead Ever After (Sookie Stackhouse, #13) by Charlaine Harris from the library the other day, so I'll be reading that shortly.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Finished Cut & Run (Cut & Run #1) by Abigail Roux and reading Wanderlust (Sirantha Jax, #2) by Ann Aguirre for bingo.

message 818: by chucklesthescot (new)

chucklesthescot My pdf book is Curve Day by L.R. Currell and I'm still reading Monster Hunter International (MHI, #1) by Larry Correia as my 'real' book at night.

message 819: by Steph, Serious series addict (last edited Jul 17, 2013 01:05PM) (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments How'd you like Cut & Run, Val? I have some of those books TBR.

Aw, man, AND you're reading Riley? I'm still jealous of you, Miss Sandra. Jax & Riley --- how I sometimes wish we'd never met so I could read you again for the first time. ;) How are you liking that series?

ETA: chucklesthescot, Curve Day's blurb kinda sounds like the movie, The Purge. How is that one? Any good?

I am reading Parasite (Parasitology, #1) by Mira Grant and it's great so far. Really unique. I haven't yet read Mira's Newsflesh books, but I have them all TBR. I'll probably start that series next b/c this book is turning me into a HUGE fan. I'd also forgotten that her pseudo is Seanan McGuire, writer of the October Daye series, which I started, but haven't finished.

And, listening to Shadow Heir (Dark Swan, #4) by Richelle Mead - meh.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Steph wrote: "How'd you like Cut & Run, Val? I have some of those books TBR."

I've read very little GLBT books but it was very entertaining. The mystery was quite nice and I regret to say that it took me more time to figure out the pattern than I normally do.

message 821: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments That's a good thing though, yah? Sometimes they are so easily solved that they can become boring.

message 822: by Ezi (new)

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) | 2516 comments Reading Obsession by Jennifer L. Armentrout and listening to The Lunatic Cafe (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #4) by Laurell K. Hamilton

@Val, I read Cut & Run series, one book a month so far. I will read Book 7: Touch & Geaux (Cut & Run #7) by Abigail Roux on August 1.
Then I will need hugs as I will be so sad until the March 2014 when book 8 comes out.

message 823: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Finished Deadly Desire (Riley Jenson Guardian, #7) by Keri Arthur very good, now onto Hunted (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #6) by Kevin Hearne which is living up to previous books.

message 824: by Nichole (new)

Nichole | 1199 comments Ezinwanyi~ I just finished Obsession. I'm looking forward to your thoughts on it. And The Lunatic Cafe is my favorite Anita Blake book.

Sandra- You only have 2 books left with RJ now! I have had Hounded on my list for a while now. I should give it a go.

I'm currently listening too Chasing Magic (Downside Ghosts, #5) by Stacia Kane . I really wanted to hear someone else with the downside chatter. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet.
I started reading Kiss of Steel (London Steampunk, #1) by Bec McMaster last night.

I know right! I love Terrible too, I love him so bad. I won't lie, he's the main thing that keeps me coming back to this series. The plot is good but Terrible is... *sigh. I even like Lex and Blue.

message 827: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (last edited Jul 18, 2013 04:22AM) (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Me, I love Terrible, not so much Chess or Lex!! LOL.

Nichole, I know, only 2 to go, then the spin off with the niece I think.

And I've got Kiss of Steel so I'll be interested to see what you think of it ;)

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) | 2516 comments Nichole wrote: "The plot is good but Terrible is... *sigh. I even like Lex and Blue...."

message 831: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments I'm reading The Oathbreaker's Shadow (The Knots Sequence, #1) by Amy McCulloch and I am enjoying it a lot. It's marketed as a YA fantasy but I think adults would enjoy it. No love triangles, no teenage angst.

message 832: by chucklesthescot (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Reading Never Deal with Dragons (DRACIM, #1) by Lorenda Christensen which is a great book so far. Dragons were created by an experiment to cure cancer going wrong. Sure, I can see a few obvious things that will come up later, but it isn't stopping my enjoyment ;)

message 839: by chucklesthescot (new)

chucklesthescot Branded (Sinners, #1) by Abi Ketner Seriously grim world and excellent story.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Reading Undertow (Infected, #7) by Andrea Speed and it's the perfect pick me up book with Roan and it's major anger management issues. This installment has more dark moment of despair and the lion always surprises me.

message 841: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I really liked Neil's Graveyard Book, Barbara. How'd you like Rook? I started the audio when we were mid-move and had to stop it - I wasn't able to pay enough attention, but definitely plan to return to it eventually.

I've got that one on my wishlist, Sandra. Glad to hear you're enjoying it.

I grabbed that one as a freebie, chucklesthescot. Sounds good.

Val, I've been hoarding the books in that series, but haven't started it yet. Glad you're enjoying it.

I read Night of the Dragon (Berserker Mate's, #1) by Alexandra O'Hurley and Beauty and Her Beasts (Berserker Mate's, #2) by Alexandra O'Hurley . Decent reads if you're in the mood for some hot supe menage.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Steph wrote: "Val, I've been hoarding the books in that series, but haven't started it yet. Glad you're enjoying it."

It's one of my guilty pleasures. I follow very little m/m series but it's one of them. When I feel down I just need to pick up those books and read about Roan and his fuck you attitude. It could almost be contemporary fiction if it were not of the feline virus aspect.

message 843: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! I'll have to remember it when I need a pick-me-up. :)

message 844: by Ellese (new)

Ellese (faithfulumbrella) | 60 comments Just finished City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare and actually enjoyed it...well even though it was maddeningly infuriating and kinda odd, still better than Twilight.

I think I will try to finish Drink Deep (Chicagoland Vampires, #5) by Chloe Neill after taking a bit of a break from the series. And have started City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2) by Cassandra Clare ...hope it keeps my interest ;)

message 845: by [deleted user] (new)

Finished Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2) by Darynda Jones .. Now reading Written in Red (The Others, #1) by Anne Bishop and Charmed (Death Escorts, #2) by Cambria Hebert ..

message 846: by chucklesthescot (new)

chucklesthescot Now reading Beasthood (The Hidden Blood Series, #1) by A.Z. Green

message 847: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments How'd you like the first in the Death Escorts series, Preethi? I love those covers.

I read several freebies: A Bit of Bite by Cynthia Eden Ivan (Her Russian Protector, #1) by Roxie Rivera All Over You (Devoured, #0.5) by Emily Snow , which were all decent.

I'm so anxious for Magic Rises (Kate Daniels #6) by Ilona Andrews and don't want to be in the middle of anything when it arrives. So, I'm sticking with shorts and still listening to Phantom Shadows (Immortal Guardians, #3) by Dianne Duvall .

Charlotte (Buried in Books) | 557 comments Just over halfway through This Man (This Man, #1) by Jodi Ellen Malpas , pretty good so far.

message 849: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Reading my last challenge book for the month The Emerald Talisman (Talisman, #1) by Brenda Pandos YA Vamp book, good so far, but not amazing.

message 850: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I just finished Dead Ever After (Sookie Stackhouse, #13) by Charlaine Harris and I agree with your thoughts. I feel like Harris was offering up explanations to her readers for why Sookie wasn't with X guy and X guy. Everything was wrapped up perfectly. It was better than the last few but still just mediocre.

I am listening to Fate's Edge (The Edge, #3) by Ilona Andrews for bingo and really liking it!

I am reading (and loving) The Cuckoo's Calling (Cormoran Strike, #1) by Robert Galbraith
