Josie | 1967 comments My computer was poorly so I haven't been on GR that much but it's all better now!

I just got an email from BD that Perdition (Dred Chronicles, #1) by Ann Aguirre has been released from the publishers! I've started Endgame recently but I've had to finish some library books such as Foretold (The Demon Trappers, #4) by Jana Oliver (which is the last book of the series), so I haven't been able to get stuck into it yet.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Done with Demon's King (High Demon #3) by Connie Suttle Demon's Revenge (High Demon #5) by Connie Suttle Demon's Dream (High Demon #6) by Connie Suttle ...and really tying my hand behind my back to not start the next Godwars series.

Started on Divide & Conquer (Cut & Run, #4) by Abigail Roux for a change of pace and re-listening to Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer, #1) by Karen Chance .

Sandra | 25908 comments Glad your computer is back Josie.

I got the same email from BD re Perdition (Dred Chronicles, #1) by Ann Aguirre plus Blood Bond (Anna Strong Chronicles, #9) by Jeanne C. Stein Must Love Fangs (Midnight Liaisons, #3) by Jessica Sims and Heart of Venom (Elemental Assassin, #9) by Jennifer Estep

message 907: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Thanks Sandra! I was a bit lost for a while :)
Which one are you most looking forward to? I've been waiting for Grave Visions (Alex Craft, #4) by Kalayna Price but it seems it's been pushed back :'(

Val, do you have to read her 'Blood Destiny' series first?
I need to reread Cassie Palmer as well but I stupidly got about 20 books from the library!

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Josie wrote: "Val, do you have to read her 'Blood Destiny' series first?

Yes! You have to read the 'Blood Destiny' series first because the author has an insane number of characters introduced (like a huge # plus family ties and relations). All the series are spin-off like...you don't want to start in the middle because the author does a great job recap with a minimum of fuss but big info dumps are not her thing.

I'm not sure I'll reread everything of the Cassie Palmer book but the next book is out soon.

message 909: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Thanks Val, I think I have 'Blood Destiny' somewhere on my Kindle so I'll have to make time for it, especially as you did steer me right with 'The Captive' series! I really liked those books :)

I'm planning to reread the whole Cassie Palmer series ready for the new one, though I doubt I'll have time to read Dory. I like to go back and read my favourite scenes (they are my feel-good books) but I'm not sure if I've actually reread the whole thing. I'm not really a rereading person but for KC, I'll make an exception - especially as there's so much to miss/forget!

message 910: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Josie, BD is saying 30 Nov for Grave Visions (Alex Craft, #4) by Kalayna Price and its saying 102 days till my copy comes ;)

As to what I'm most looking forward to? Well, I'm not up to date with any of them, though, I'm only 1 book behind in each of Midnight Liasions & Elemental Assassins. So both of them, if you don't count Cassie Palmer's Tempt the Stars (Cassandra Palmer, #6) by Karen Chance

message 911: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Yes, Tempt the Stars trumps all! :P

Man, how disappointing. Another 3 months, I wonder why it was changed from August.

message 912: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I am so excited to see what you all think of Perdition!!

I just started GhosTV (PsyCop, #6) by Jordan Castillo Price I had been waiting until the next was to be released and the author just announced that Spook Squad (PsyCop, #7) by Jordan Castillo Price is going to be released on 8/30!

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Josie wrote: "Thanks Val, I think I have 'Blood Destiny' somewhere on my Kindle so I'll have to make time for it, especially as you did steer me right with 'The Captive' series! I really liked those books :)

Yeah, Blood Wager was a freebie as well as Demon Lost at one point in time (like over the last 2 years or something). It's the kind of series I can't stop reading because they always finish in a mini cliff-hanger at the end and the 4th book in the 'Blood Destiny' series goes twilight zone on you.

Sandra | 25908 comments Just finished a re-read of Lord's Fall (Elder Races, #5) by Thea Harrison because I read The Wicked (Elder Races, #5.5) by Thea Harrison earlier in the week and I needed a Pia & Dragos hit. Now I can't wait for the next book Kinked (Elder Races, #6) by Thea Harrison which is out 5 Nov, though Aryal isn't my fav character, I'm looking forward to Quentin though ;)

I've started Hover (The Taking, #2) by Melissa West

message 920: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments Just finished Forged in Fire by Trish McCallan . I got the freebie a while back and bought the audio because the whispersync deal was very cheap. But I understand there's a new ending so I'll check my old copy and see how it changed.

The characters in the book weren't bad but the romantic suspense plot was out of this world crazy. So you want to get a hold on some people and some papers and you think the best way to get that accomplished is to hijack a plane full of passengers? In this day and age, no less? What a about an old fashioned B&E mixed with kidnapping? Wouldn't that make more sense?

At least the narration was well done so no complaints there.

message 921: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments LOL. Really?? A hijacking?? Smells a bit of desperation to go for the bigger adrenaline rush to me. Sometimes I just wonder what these authors are smoking doing.

Just finished Sanctum, Steph. Really loved it. Somehow, the name 'Malachi' reminded me of a wizened old university professor with white hair, at first... :)Don't know why!

Glad that was not the case.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I was over the moon when my NetGalley req for Tempt the Stars (Cassandra Palmer, #6) by Karen Chance was approved. Typically this publisher rej my requests. Wooooohoooo! I think everyone following the series will enjoy it. I did. But, I still like Dory (Dorina Basarab) more. ;)

Glad you liked Sanctum, Preethi. Will you be continuing the series? I also read 1.5 & 2, but enjoyed the first the best so far. I'm anxious for #3, but no word on when it'll be out. #2, Fractured, was available on NetGalley last month, if you're a member you could request it.

I've got a lot going on IRL, so I've had less read time than I'd like, but I did read a freebie WANTED Dead or Undead (The Zombie West Series, #1) by Angela Scott and really liked it - more than expected. A Zombie Western. :)

I'm reading (or trying to find time to read) Perdition (Dred Chronicles, #1) by Ann Aguirre and Wickedest Witch by Eve Langlais .

Forgot to answer ya, Lis. I am not sure if that was the last book or not. Certainly could'a been. But, I thought the one before that could'a been too. So, I'm hoping there'll be more, but was happy with how that one ended in case there aren't. You? (view spoiler)

So many books to read!!

I'm currently listening to Morrigan's Cross (Circle Trilogy, #1) by Nora Roberts . It's okay, I think the next one I will read though. I'm not a huge fan of the narrator.
I'm also reading Touched by an Alien (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #1) by Gini Koch but the newest October Daye novel just came out today so I'll probably put it aside and read that instead.

How is Perdition (Dred Chronicles, #1) by Ann Aguirre , Steph? I'm looking foward to starting that series as well. I loved Sirantha Jax.

Absolutely!

I re-read the last two chapters of Hunt the Moon before starting Tempt the Stars. When I got the end of HtM, I remembered the big cliff and was SO glad I had TtS to jump into next. Buuuuut, I'm sad to report there is a bit of cliffhanger in that one as well. Not as painful as with HtM, but still sucks it wasn't entirely wrapped up. Now we gotta wait another ... what? Years? Dunno, but either way, Ick!

Kerstin wrote: "How is Perdition (Dred Chronicles, #1) by Ann Aguirre, Steph? I'm looking foward to starting that series as well. I loved Sirantha Jax."

I'm really enjoying it. The space prison and its inhabitants sound wicked nasty and/or extremely badass. But, ya gotta be to survive there. No parole or chance of escape, so you're there until you die.

I love that it's new, but still set in Jax' world (30-40 yrs in future). Jael from Wanderlust and Doubleblind is the hero. I'm really liking the heroine, Dred. Slow going b/c of RL stuff, otherwise I'm sure I'd have finished it by now.

Oh, and, I am anxious to read PWSD. Looking forward to your thoughts on it.
